The Die Cutter Machine Operator efficiently performs set-up and operates machines that die cut blank and/or pre-printed stock. Responsibilities include confirmation of accuracy and completeness of order, dies, set-up and installation, paper stock, and the load and feed of paper, and the effectiveness and accuracy of cutting, staging completed work per instructions, and area maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Follow all Company policies, procedures and guidelines as well as take actions that support team work, safety, contamination control, efficiency and good housekeeping.
Know and abide by all Standard Operating Procedures.
Follow the pre-production, make ready, and production run tasks.
Operate powered equipment
Occasionally train workers on the Die Cutting Machine operations, including the feeding and take off functions.
Ensure the work area is clean, and that non-conforming, over-runs, and/or waste are delivered to the appropriate repository.
Cross-train as assigned
Follow and adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment rules and regulations
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Be able to perform work related math functions (which includes the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide)
Be familiar with production and processing
Knowledge of Die Cutting machine operation
Have sufficient skill and experience with troubleshooting
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work
Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Have the ability to stand long hours, stop, crouch, kneel, crawl, climb and use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement

Assist in the ongoing training of Press Assistants.
Work together as a team to improve and streamline the process with each department.
Participate in implementation of process improvement for internal/external customers through data collection, standardized procedures and teamwork.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma, (GED), or equivalent experience.
Technical degree in printing/die cutting preferred.
Requires a minimum 24 months of relevant experience in press operation in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong written/verbal interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and comprehend instructions and SOPs in English. Must be able to present information to team.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume and distance.
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail and word processing.
Set up, operate, and perform preventative maintenance on press.
Basic leadership skills required to give support associates simple directions.
Read and comprehend measurements on a ruler.
Read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and work instructions.
Pass color vision and color hue tests.
Willingness to be a cross-functional employee that can work with multiple teams within the organization to achieve success.
Works in a manufacturing environment and will be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. May, on a continuous basis, stand/walk for up to 12 hours per shift as well as stoop and kneel frequently. May handle, feel and reach for items in and around press area, also write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds as well as push/pulling loads up to 750 lbs with a manual or electric pallet jack may be required. Vision: close vision, distance and color vision to distinguish color variations, peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Responsible for setting up and running Die Cutter in Commercial Print Bindery, experience in pocket folder/box gluer, cutter, and stitcher a plus.
Ensures that production goals are met.
Runs Die Cutter with experience in cutter, folder, stitcher machinery a plus.
Troubleshoots problems to maintain quality standards and to keep binding line equipment in running condition - request maintenance as required.
Examines product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications.
Pulls and inspects hourly run samples and notifies the Bindery Leader in the event quality standards are not being met.
Cleans, lubricates and maintains assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.
May run the binding line in absence of the Bindery Leader.
May coordinate the assignment of crewmembers.
May provide training for new team members.
Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.

The Tool & Die associate is a critical individual within Jacobs Vehicle Systems. The individual would be responsible for various cutter grind and tool-making processes that are vital to the department. This position can be a full-time or apprenticeship-level position, depending on schooling and experience. NOTE: The apprenticeship typically lasts 4-5 years, and includes paid training and technical instruction. Skills can also be obtained through a vocational school or community college, as approved. We also have an Accelerated Apprenticeship, which requires a formal certificate/degree in this applicable area in order to be considered.
Produce engineering prototype hardware from drawings, hand sketches, and verbal descriptions of intended functions.
Utilizing precision diametric fits and other development work for such hardware.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting for close-tolerance/high-finish production tooling.
Work to close tolerances, critical angles and surfaces.
Plan, construct and repair complicated Tool Room and Cutter Grind assignments, such as jigs, fixtures, gauges and specialized tools; this includes CNC milling, turning and grinding equipment.
Sharpen cutters, drills, reamers, and form tools, using cutter grinders, drill grinders, surface grinders, and tap grinders; working from specifications, drawings and sketches, instructions.
Re-sharpen tools to prescribed standards according to materials to be machined.
Modify standard cutting tools for special applications.
Use precision measuring equipment to determine accuracy and specified dimension relationships.
Work on new experimental cutting tools working with production and manufacturing engineering staff personnel.
Work with designer on determination of specifications where toolmaker practices and skills experience input is critical to the end result.

Tool and die makers need to create and read advanced blueprints to create specialized tools and molds.
Attention to Detail: Precision is key. Tool and die makers need to make sure that their models and finished products are free of flaws to the minutest detail.
Tool and die makers use CAD software and other computer programs to design and craft tools and die-casts.
CNC experience is preferred in this position.
Requires a basic understanding of materials and heat treatment operations.
Knowledge and practice of precision diametrical fits, production of coil springs, flat springs, die-formed components and tolerance assemblies.
In addition to computer software, tool and die makers use a number of hand tools and large scale machines to finish their products.
Stamina: Tool and die makers spend long hours on their feet, often bent over in the same position
