Looking for an experienced and well-seasoned Tooling Designer., experience in progressive dies and four-slide tooling.
The ideal candidate must be able to perform in a fast paced work environment and have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure, communicate effectively, and complete tasks on time.
Prior hands-on die design experience as a die maker a big plus, preferably in a busy job shop environment. Your responsibilities include providing our tool makers, CNC machinists, EDM technicians with detailed drawings and designs for repairs, new tool builds, tooling modifications, prototype development, etc.
Responsibilities/experience will include but are not limited to the following:
Hands-on tool and die making experience preferred (thorough knowledge of progressive stamping dies)
5 + year’s minimum experience designing progressive dies, four-slide tooling a plus
Capable of designing a progressive die from part drawing to first article off the die
Capable of designing prototypes with engineering input
Working knowledge of in-die sensors
Ability to design dies using SolidWorks, Logopress and AutoCAD
Ability to estimate lead time for progressive dies and four-slide tooling design
Have the ability to propose improvements on existing dies
Improve company Tool and Die Standards
Capable to provide detailed drawings to EDM and CNC as well as tool and die makers on the bench
Capable of creating bill of materials for all designs
Ensure materials and components are ordered timely
Knowledge of wire EDM and CNC machining is a plus
Lead internal die design strategy meetings, review any production issues, timing considerations, etc. with other key tooling members
Interface directly with engineering to discuss die design, explain die concepts, review drawing dimensions/tolerances, propose value engineering ideas, etc.
Communication skills proficient for dealing with company and customer engineers
