Position Core Role:
Assembly, trial, debug, and installation of large automotive, class A, stamping dies. Domestic/International travel to Honda facilities across North America, Canada, and Mexico during install phase.
Must be flexible enough to work different shifts when required. Ability to complete job required paper work and documentation.
Essential Functions and

Casting Finisher - 2Nd Shift
Kirsh Foundry, Inc. Position Description
Reports to: Grinding and Finishing Foreman
To clean, deburr, chip, die grind or otherwise process and inspect castings in preparation for shipping.
Scope: All personnel of the Finishing Department directly report to the Grinding and Finishing Foreman.
Primary Job Duties:
- Operate the necessary tools and or equipment to clean castings per customer specification.
- Process orders to assure production schedule and quality standards are met
- Read, initial and follow all shop-card instructions.
- Work with supervisory and management personnel to help identify and reduce incidents of scrap.
Primary Departmental Duties:
- Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner, report safety concerns to your Supervisor or Safety Committee Representative and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Initial shop card for each job produced while on shift and report any shop card questions to your supervisor.
- Maintain appropriate attendance record.
- Assist in training new employees that enter the department.

Flat Knifing combines use of an automated rule bending machine and tweaking machine process done by hand. Rule is inserted into a flat die by the same process as rotary, but on a flat work board. Large cassettes are used with flat knifing, which involves moving them with a lift table because they are heavy.
All areas do rework and need to pull rule out of boards by using a nipper.
Physically these positions require a majority of the day standing and walking. They need to be able to use firm grip with pounding and have good hand-eye coordination to insert knives into board and/or create fixtures.
On average, about 30 rotary dies are created per day, 25 flat dies, 30 rotary preps and about 10 fixtures per day are created.

ABG Finisher Operator - 12/Hr Nights - Platoon 3/4
This position is responsible for die cuts and converts large rolls of printed and non-printed labels into specified quanitities for shipping. Splices and rewinds end remnant rolls into usable rolls, doing so in the most efficient manner, maximizing time while minimizing waste.

Work from complicated drawings, specifications or concepts. Use a wide variety of precision instruments for exacting measurements.
Lay out work and plan machining and bench procedures. Perform difficult machining operations requiring complicated setups which may involve improvising of tooling and machines for adaptations beyond the normal range in capacities of available equipment. Sets up and operates a variety of CNC mills, CNC EDM's and related CAD equipment machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
Perform critical bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble and finish work. Assume responsibility for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work. May include responsibility for training an apprentice Tool and Die Maker or other tool room personnel on a project basis.
Will also operate related CAD/CAM equipment. Analyzes molded parts to determine tool repair and adjustments required with minimum supervision. Responsible for observing safe work habits and cleanliness of work area.
Proceeds under general supervision. Performs other duties as may be requested. Responsible for using standardized inspection methods and SPC as requested.

What you'll be doing
Perform welding, grinding, operate cranes, machining, & fabrication.
Perform machining, finishing, assembly and tuning of dies.
Support in line tryouts or line calls of dies.
Carry out emergency repairs if any issues arise.
Perform die modifications for surface quality and accuracy.
Work in a team setting.
Occasionally travel to support off site activities at NAMC's and Toyota affiliates.
Log daily book entries to communicate activities, issues and progress of die work.
What you bring
Experience building and/or maintaining high volume stamping dies, welding ability, spotting ability and hand finishing skills.
Knowledge of cutting and forming sheet metal stamping operation
Experience in industrial maintenance
Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge

Tool %26 Die Apprentice
The Tool & Die associate is a critical individual within Jacobs Vehicle Systems. The individual would be responsible for various cutter grind and tool-making processes that are vital to the department. This position can be a full-time or apprenticeship-level position, depending on schooling and experience. NOTE: The apprenticeship typically lasts 4-5 years, and includes paid training and technical instruction. Skills can also be obtained through a vocational school or community college, as approved. We also have an Accelerated Apprenticeship, which requires a formal certificate/degree in this applicable area in order to be considered.
Produce engineering prototype hardware from drawings, hand sketches, and verbal descriptions of intended functions.
Utilizing precision diametric fits and other development work for such hardware.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting for close-tolerance/high-finish production tooling.
Work to close tolerances, critical angles and surfaces.
Plan, construct and repair complicated Tool Room and Cutter Grind assignments, such as jigs, fixtures, gauges and specialized tools; this includes CNC milling, turning and grinding equipment.
Sharpen cutters, drills, reamers, and form tools, using cutter grinders, drill grinders, surface grinders, and tap grinders; working from specifications, drawings and sketches, instructions.
Re-sharpen tools to prescribed standards according to materials to be machined.
Modify standard cutting tools for special applications.
Use precision measuring equipment to determine accuracy and specified dimension relationships.
Work on new experimental cutting tools working with production and manufacturing engineering staff personnel.
Work with designer on determination of specifications where toolmaker practices and skills experience input is critical to the end result.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Tool and die makers need to create and read advanced blueprints to create specialized tools and molds.
Attention to Detail: Precision is key. Tool and die makers need to make sure that their models and finished products are free of flaws to the minutest detail.
Tool and die makers use CAD software and other computer programs to design and craft tools and die-casts.
CNC experience is preferred in this position.
Requires a basic understanding of materials and heat treatment operations.
Knowledge and practice of precision diametrical fits, production of coil springs, flat springs, die-formed components and tolerance assemblies.
In addition to computer software, tool and die makers use a number of hand tools and large scale machines to finish their products.
Stamina: Tool and die makers spend long hours on their feet, often bent over in the same position
Problem Solving: Ability to problem solve is critical in the JVS Tool & Die position.
Multitasking: Agility to work on various projects is important in our lean environment.

Aluminum Finisher - Swings
Primary Function: Responsible for surface finishing and initial formal inspection of castings in order to meet external quality requirements.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Selects appropriate finishing equipment and tools.
Finishes castings while maintaining dimensional tolerances.
Understands and uses measurement tools to ensure proper dimensional tolerances.
Visually inspects castings for defects.
Makes determination whether part goes forward in production process.
Documents weld maps accurately.
Blends welds when necessary.
Rough blasts parts.
Maintains lot integrity.
Ensures paperwork is properly done.
Helps other areas as needed.
