Stamping Tool & Die Maker - 3Rd Shift
Primary Purpose: Maximize utilization of Stamping Department by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the stamping dies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain & troubleshoot dies.
Troubleshoot die problems with minimal amount of production downtime.
Perform die changeovers on all dies for increased utilization and efficiency.
Support continuous tooling improvements on all dies for increased utilization and efficiency.
Support continuous process improvements throughout the Stamping Department.
Follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Build/modify spare parts as needed.
Participate in problem solving teams.
Technical Degree in Machine Tool or equivalent field
2 years' experience with high speed tooling
Knowledge of all aspects of precision machining and form grinding
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work with employees throughout the organizations
Good computer skills

Stamping Machinist Technician - Tool & Die Maker Trainee
The Tool & Die Trainee will train on and acquire the competencies to become a Molex Tool & Die Maker. This is a maximum 2 year position and after that time, the person will be required to move to a backshift machinist position and will have the ability to apply for any available Tool & Die Maker openings. In this position, you will be responsible to assist the Toolroom by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the stamping dies.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Build spare parts or details from prints or concepts
Assist Toolmakers as required
Train in die changeover, debug, and maintenance
Participate in team activities to enhance continuous improvement
Maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping practices
Actively support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and programs
Understand, support, and contribute to current Molex Quality and Environmental systems by following stated policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualified candidates must:
Have a technical degree in Machine Tool or equivalent field
Be able to operate mills, grinders, lathes, and common tool room equipment
Be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
Preference will be given to candidates who:
Have at least 2 years' general machine work experience
Have excellent communication skills and can work with people in various levels of the organization

Journeyman Tool & Die Maker (Stamping)
Qualifications:Must be able to demonstrate proficiency and skill appropriate to the job in the areas of shop mathematics, heat treatment techniques, blueprint reading, job layout skills, machine tool operation skills, tool design techniques, fitting and assembly.
Experience & Education: Must have successfully completed an apprenticeship training program and have a certification of completion along with 7+ years of experience in a metal stamping facility as a Tool & Die Maker.
1st Shift Hours: 4am – 2pm, Monday – Thursday
2nd Shift Hours: 2pm – midnight, Monday - Thursday

The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for all aspects of in-house tool manufacturing, maintenance, development and testing activities to maximize productivity and maintain the highest level of workmanship.
This role will ensure all tools are produced efficiently, on time and in line with quality standards.
Provide specialized technical advice and support on all aspects of tool design and manufacturing
Support Production through technical tooling problems and ensure overall Equipment Effectiveness.
Manage and plan activities of the tool room facilities; ensuring the tool room is a safe environment.

Examine blueprints to determine tool requirements and special materials or items to be ordered.

Adjust priorities, and keeps others appropriately informed, to meet production schedules.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, the department, or the work crew.
Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
Maintain an adequate spare parts inventory
Organize, repair and maintain tools.
Ensure completion of all required production paperwork, records and documentation (time cards, quality records, etc)
Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems, and assist operators in solving work problems.
Observe work and monitor output to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
Ensure compliance with departmental housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or eight (8) years related experience and/or training in tooling design, maintenance, repair and manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Plan and construct a wide variety of tools, dies, fixtures and gauges to very close tolerances, or construct more complex units where design is available.
Perform development work, layout and difficult tool room machine operations, fitting, timing and adjusting, e.g. combination dies for parts or irregular contour, box type drill jigs with difficult locating or nesting features, ordinary index milling fixtures.
Dismantles and repairs or replaces parts of damaged dies and fixtures, fits and assembles parts, and tests repaired dies for proper operation.
Operates cranes safely to remove and/or relocate dies to specific work stations/equipment.
Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Ensures all tools are properly fit for use.
Prepares sketches for machining of tool details.
Performs basic layout inspections of both tooling and manufactured components in press.
Must have all tools common to trade practice
Proficient in reading and working with blueprints.
Capable of working with varied ranges of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Proficient in workshop theory and calculation.
Overhead Crane Operation.
Ability to work with SPC.
Participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes.
Takes direction from Supervisor/Lead Hand, as applicable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate various machine tools consistent with the Tool & Die trade including but not limited to Lathes, Mills, Drills, Saws, Shapers, Die repair and rework, etc. in order to produce required product from prints, samples, and sketches, etc.
