Port City Group, a division of Pace Industries, located in Muskegon, Michigan, is a multi-location, fully integrated manufacturer of aluminum die castings, zinc die castings, mechanical assemblies and injected molded plastics. Our facilities include Port City Castings Corp., Muskegon Castings Corp., Port City Metal Products, Port City Die Cast, Port City Custom Plastics, Alloy Resource Corp, and Mirror Image Tool.
As a member of a cross-functional team, responsible for polishing cast parts on a fixed jack stand belt/flap sander to produce a high-quality product in accordance with Pace Industries and customer requirements. Completes proper paperwork and documentation in accordance with work instructions. Recognize and quickly respond to any non-conforming or suspect conditions related to the cast parts. The polisher must setup their own polish equipment, maintain housekeeping, and be able to start and shut down their machine correctly. Responsible for troubleshooting problems and resolving issues independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the quality of the parts produced. Inspect parts for any non-conforming or suspect conditions.
Polish parts to remove/blend casting features and/or defects per documented instructions.
Complete hourly quality checks and fill out hour by hour charts if required.
Initiate containment of any non-conforming and suspect parts.
Clean dust collector system and replace filters.
Polish and pack parts. Record parts produced; scrap generated, scrap percentages, reasons for scrap and down time hourly.
Follows prescribed safety standards and wears required personal protective equipment, which include respirators and foam lined glasses
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to take instruction and constructive criticism
Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, in order to read and interpret work instructions and other job-related documentation.
Must be thorough with good attention to detail.
Must be able to perform simple math calculations.
Willingness, desire and ability to work in a fast paced, changing work environment.
Must have ability to use basic hand-held measuring tools, such as calipers, fixture gages, and plug gages.

Polisher - Day Shift
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Hand sanding scratches and other defects from the die surface using handheld tools including; palm sanders, grinders, and wooden blocks.
Create a smooth transition on die surfaces between different sanding levels on the die.
Sanding and blending imperfections to bring the sanded areas to the finish specifications.
Follow all safety policies and procedures throughout the company.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and be solution driven.
o 6S, Kaizen and other lean events
o Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly fashion
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) is the world's leading manufacturer and remanufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. Today, ECG has eight facilities in four different states. We are currently seeking a full-time Polisher position at Ellwood National Crankshaft Services Dallas in Grand Prairie, TX. This non-exempt position may be required to work rotating shifts, 12-hour schedules and overtime as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Measure and prepare final dimensions of finished crankshafts.
Identify and make required adjustments with the correct abrasive material to bring the crankshaft to final product dimension and finish, including lapping, belt polishing, benching, and hand working.
Loads and unloads machine with aid of an overhead crane.
Install counterweights as needed.
Lubricates machines, checks and fills reservoirs, etc. on a daily basis.
Maintains working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
Reports defective material to inspection immediately.
Observes all safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary
Perform hand polishing and buffing operations to specifications. Executes use of Contact Wheels, Buffs, Abrasive belts, Greases, Compounds, Gauging, Measuring devices and etc., to accomplish desired finish.\r
Principal Duties and Responsibilities•Prepares and performs own set-ups.\r
Selects assigned wheels, belts, compounds and greases per polishing set-up sheet and performs respective finishing operations.\r
Confirms container identification and production router corresponds and blue print matches part number.\r
Report production on the current Information System on a daily basis.\r
Performs minor preventative maintenance on polishing lathe and maintains a safe, clean work area.\r
Communicates to Supervisor any problems that affect quality and productivity.\r
Assumes responsibility in care of fixture, tooling and gauging.\r
Inspects parts dimensionally and cosmetically during process.\r
Responsible to identify and record any problem relating to the product, process and quality system. Stop further processing of non-conforming product until deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.\r
Responsible to record the job steps in the PDR and any other information required in the documentation of the product and processes.\r
Expected Areas of Competence•Good knowledge of blue prints and math.\r
Requires an intermediate knowledge of metals & materials processed through department. Ability to read measuring devices, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and rule. \r
Basic knowledge of polishing lathes for administering routine preventative maintenance.\r

The Polisher will work closely with the FOH team, handling all glass, silver, and plateware for service. The ideal polisher candidate will be efficient, yet careful while handling and cleaning flat and stemware. Perform polishing and specialty restoration techniques on assigned jewelry and silver according to Tiffany & Co. design and quality standards.
