The primary responsibility of this role is toperform preventative maintenance on Stamping / Die mechanical equipment inaccordance with standards.
Reporting to the Stamping / Die Manufacturing Supervisor,the person in this role will support Toyota Motor's Manufacturing Kentucky(TMMK), Toyota's largest North America manufacturing operation. The facilityproduces over 500,000 vehicles annually. Production includes assembly of the
Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, and Lexus ES350. TMMK also builds 4-cylinder andV6 engines and powertrain parts.
What you'll be doing
Perform welding, grinding, operate cranes, machining, & fabrication.
Perform machining, finishing, assembly and tuning of dies.
Support in line tryouts or line calls of dies.
Carry out emergency repairs if any issues arise.
Perform die modifications for surface quality and accuracy.
Work in a team setting.
Occasionally travel to support off site activities at NAMC's and Toyota affiliates.
Log daily book entries to communicate activities, issues and progress of die work.
What you bring
Experience building and/or maintaining high volume stamping dies, welding ability, spotting ability and hand finishing skills.
Knowledge of cutting and forming sheet metal stamping operation
Experience in industrial maintenance
Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge
Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and problem-solving

Stamping Die Formability Engineer
Position Core Role:
The Stamping Die Formability Engineer is responsible for achieving quality targets in formability, visual appearance, CAD developments, simulation results, along with supporting in-house, supplier, and plant die tryout. The person in this role will perform virtual and actual stamping die tryout for draw and after process stamping tools of all North America new model developments. The Stamping Die Formability Engineer should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work well within a team-oriented environment.
Essential Function and
Design large automotive stamping dies with focus on sheet metal formability, utilizing Catia V5
Coordinate and successfully implement a tooling design schedule with the regular tracking of progress
Simulate the stamping process using CAE analysis software
Investigate and troubleshoot forming related problems during the tooling manufacturing process
Review past design problems to prevent repetition of problems in future designs.
Use Catia V5 to design tooling shapes needed to create desired part shapes
Complete stamping simulation analysis of designed shapes
Assist in tooling modifications to improve part quality/accuracy
Attend die trials on-site, as well as at various Honda plants in North America

Essential Function and
Designs automotive transfer dies in CATIA v5 or later.

Performs the activities required to support toolmaking operations and to make tools required by performing all operations necessary to construct, develop, alter, fit, align, adjust, calibrate and repair tooling, experimental tooling, dies, gages, jigs and fixtures, special machines and equipment. (Except molding dies)
Work with maintenance personnel and Tool Build Technicians during the construction of special machines and equipment or Stamping tool builds to account for correct maintenance and repair of those machines and tools.
Responsible for supplying sketches to engineering, to enable drawings to be made of tooling or new special machines and equipment.
Must be capable of operating all toolroom machines and equipment related to the trade and instructing other toolmaker associates in their use.
Must be capable of independently producing tools from provided tool drawings and/or I.G.E.S. files through final fit and assembly, according to prescribed toolroom procedures, (i.e. deliverables). Communicates with tool designers, engineers, vendors, internal and external customers.

The Tool & Die Trainee will train on and acquire the competencies to become a Molex Tool & Die Maker. This is a maximum 2 year position and after that time, the person will be required to move to a backshift machinist position and will have the ability to apply for any available Tool & Die Maker openings.
