Diesel / Small Engine Mechanic
Locations with current openings for this position:
Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, Shop Foreman or senior technicians.
o Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
o Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
o Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products

Diesel Engine Mechanic/ Service Technician - Heavy-Duty

We are looking to fill a senior diesel engine service technician position for our growing Service Department. This position will focus on our genuine factory lines which include but are not limited to Deutz, Perkins, Isuzu, Kubota and
General Position Responsibilities:
• Perform quality maintenance, diagnostics, inspections and rebuilds.
• Must be able to disassemble and reassemble all components and equipment (i.e.: engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, electrical systems, etc.).
• Be familiar with fuel systems, power generation, electrical systems, etc.
• Must work well with others and be willing to conduct themselves in accordance with our company values.
• Willing and able to work in the shop or at customers locations. (currently position is about 75% shop time/ 25% field service time)
• Willing and able to travel if needed. (technicians use their own vehicles but are compensated for mileage)
• Applies documented procedures and policies to complete basic repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools.
• Assists with completion required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
• Completes training as required for dealerships (training is typically out of state).
• Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.

Develop Engine System Interface Function Models, FMEA and DVP
Ensure all system interfaces are defined and tracked
Identify requirements and collect supplier and cross-functional department information/data/facts to make technical decisions to meet functional objectives within program scope
Manage engine selection process and Review Sub-System Technical Specifications (SSTS) for engine and adaptation systems to ensure stated vehicle objectives can be met with selected hardware
Make all final technical decisions for the powertrain function in conjunction with engine supplier

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline + 10+ years of engineering experience in progressively more responsible roles + 3+ years of experience in supervision or in a direct team leadership role

Understanding of engine/transmission calibration development process and OBD
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting complex material to various audiences
