The Public Affairs/Communications Specialist is a broad classification with three position skill levels. Positions in this classification have varying levels of responsibility for carrying out the communications, public affairs and/or marketing programs of the University.
Incumbents at this level serve in a strategic role in developing communication,marketing and public affairs plans to support long-term objectives and to increase the visibility of the University. Additionally, incumbents will be managing and providing lead direction for two successful campus media programs, Coyote Radio and Coyote Advertising.
Incumbents will be responsible for coordinating the daily operation of Coyote Radio & Advertising programs while providing strategic creative direction, management, and oversite of multimedia advertising campaigns and Coyote Radio streaming broadcast. Incumbents have the highest level of contact with University management and the media and respond to immediate requests from key internal and external stakeholders of the University.
The work requires a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of marketing and communication theory, advertising creative direction, college radio broadcasting, and strategic media planning and placement. The incumbent must have the ability to lead and manage teams of up to 25 paid student employees as well as multiple interns and volunteers, and media practicum class participants.
Manage the daily operation of Coyote Radio & Advertising programs including (annually): over 200 CSUSB practicum students, 20-plus student employees, and approximately 25 interns/volunteers.
Oversee the Coyote Radio & Advertising facility/lab and maintain high-tech media equipment/software spanning across 10 rooms and 25 individual workstations--including a state of the art broadcast control room and audio/visual production studios.
Research, plan, execute, and evaluate strategic media campaigns ranging from the CSUSB department level projects to CSU-wide initiatives.
Provide strategic creative direction to a team of workers in a wide range of positions from graphic design and video production, to digital marketing and promotions.
Review and approve communication materials that are designed, developed, and produced for various colleges, divisions and departments of the University for distribution through print, digital and broadcast channels.
Oversee all employment related decisions for the Coyote Radio & Advertising programs including hiring and termination of employees.
Generate funding requests and acquisition from Instructionally Related Activities Board and media/advertising sales and services.
Develop and manage a fiscal year budget in the range $100,000 to $200,000 for purchasing equipment, software, and supplies, and hiring personnel for both Coyote Radio & Advertising programs.
Maintain multiple ongoing corporate-community internship and broadcast syndication partnerships.
Negotiate paid media contracts with various internal and external constituencies.
Serve as a key media marketing and communication consultant for University leadership ranging from Department Chairs and Directors to College Deans and Divisional Vice Presidents.
Collaborate with the University Office of Strategic Communication on University branding initiatives and media buying ventures and ensure communication materials are in line with University goals, mission, and brand identity.
Develop visual concepts and write copy for a variety of posters, flyers, brochures, reports and University events and programs. Edit acquired content for style, grammar, and accuracy.
Write, research and produce copy for resource material including, but not limited to, print and web material, advertising, news and editorial.
Serve as a liaison to University departments, maintaining project flow and approval process.
Ensure that radio and advertising teams are meeting production schedules and deadlines.
Contribute to the Universities vision of being the academic leader in customer service through quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork.

Provide Radio Frequency (RF) and Global Positioning System (GPS) engineering support to the ES45 RF & E3 Branch of the Space Systems Department in the Engineering Directorate at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Radio Event Crew Member
Event Team Members main responsibility is to ensure a positive station image and interact with listeners and clients creating a positive experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Responsible for set up of broadcast tent or gazebo and booth. Tent or gazebo and booth must be set up on a priority basis so engineering/crew may set up broadcast equipment. This will also include the drawing box and table and prize wheel as directed.
Responsible for set up of inflatable balloon(s). Caution and care must be used when inflating and deflating.
Responsible for displaying station banners in a prominent position.
All remote equipment must be set up one half hour prior to remote start time.
Responsible for tearing down and packing away broadcast booth, drawing box, tent or gazebo, prize wheel, inflatable and banners.
Responsible for registration slips to be brought back to station along with prize, if winner was not present. All slips must be put in envelope and label with location and date and given to Promotions Director
Responsible for keeping all station vehicles organized. All equipment must be packed away as instructed.
Dress code during winter months will be polo shirts or sweat shirts with station logo, blue jeans, ropers or tennis shoes. During summer months t-shirts or polo shirts, blue jean shorts (just above the knee -- no short shorts) and tennis shoes. Open-toe shoes are not permitted.

The Flight Records/radio Operator will work for the Training and Operations Director and will be responsible for the day to day flight records of both students and instructor pilots at the Dothan Training Center, radio flight following as required, and ARTS data entry.

Sr Emea Radio Regulation & Standards Engineer
Sr EMEA Radio Regulation & Standards Engineer - 1601389
Description: The successful candidate will be accountable for actively monitoring and influencing European Radio Frequency regulation and technical standards to protect and promote Itron's commercial interests.
This will be achieved by direct participation in the relevant industry alliances, consortia and standards development organizations (ETSI, CENELEC, ITU, ESMIG, CEPT/ECC, FM, SE, SRD/MG, etc.). May also involve interaction with Regulatory Bodies within individual Members States, and the development of joint strategies with Itron customers to address their needs in this context. The person in this role assumes a coordination and leadership position for other resources involved in these activities across the company.
The successful candidate will develop commercially driven internal strategies that include medium term objectives and technical as well as political tactics to achieve stated goals. The individual will work directly with the internal Itron subject matter experts in the CTO and R&D teams as well as product management to ensure tight coupling of technical and commercial interests.
The development and maintenance of internal reporting and performance metrics are also a part of this role.
This position reports to the Director of Strategic Industry Standards in Itron's Office of the Chief Technology Officer.
Travel: This is a Full Time position which requires 50%+ travel, mostly within Europe but may include some global international travel. Must have valid passport and ability to obtain necessary travel documents (visas) without restrictions.
Location: Candidate may reside in any EU member country. Prefer candidate reside near established Itron office facility (Felixstowe, Oldenburg, Karlsruhe, Paris, Macon, Gödöllő, etc.)
Compensation: Itron offers comprehensive and competitive compensation packages, commensurate with experience.
Education: Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Engineering (Electrical, Physics, or similar). Master of Science preferred.
7+ years of practical implementation of low-power narrowband radio communications optimized for embedded devices. Expert understanding of European radio regulations (Directives), their creation, standards for compliance and relationship to member states (ETSI ERM, CEPT, etc.). Preference for direct experience/employment in a radio regulatory affairs role. Experience in the electric/gas/water utilities industry is beneficial but not required.
Additional Skills Required: Expert understanding of European radio regulations, their creation and relationship to member states.
Excellent oral and written English communications. Ability to lead and succeed in geographically/culturally diverse, high-performing teams. Political awareness and diplomacy.
Understands business drivers for industry – regulatory – standards interactions. Ability to achieve goals though others.
Additional Skills Preferred: Multi-lingual. Practical knowledge of industry organization governance and how that applies to this role (intellectual property, anti-trust, rules of order for deliberative bodies, etc.).
