Police officers and personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and their services and facilities are available at all times. The University Police department has the exclusive responsibility to act upon law-enforcement matters and perform police functions for the main campus of the University of Washington, Seattle.

UWPD has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Security Guard to support the Seattle campus. Security Guards may be assigned to the Husky NightWalk Program as well as assigned to support other programs and posts to include the UW Tower.
Husky NightWalk Program
The purpose of the Husky NightWalk Program is to enhance the safety of personnel at the University of Washington by providing walking escorts to designated areas on campus. Security Guards also facilitate the overall security of the campus by conducting regular foot patrols of campus buildings and providing general security services at other locations on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Upon client request:
Perform duties primarily on foot; may operate University vehicle as needed.
Escort requestor (University faculty, staff, students, guests) to various locations on campus during the designated times.
All drivers will adhere to the Washington State Traffic Laws at all times while on duty and operating a University vehicle.
During an escort, if a medical emergency develops, the guard is to request Seattle Fire Medics to their location. The guard shall also administer first-aid to the victim if properly trained to do so.
Security Guards conducting escorts shall avoid any confrontational situations with other persons and shall request a police officer presence to their location immediately if such a situation occurs.
Security Guards shall advise UWPD dispatch (via radio) whenever they observe suspected criminal activity and/or suspicious circumstances. Security Guards are not to engage in use of force tactics unless an extreme situation (i.e., protect self or others from bodily harm) occurs.
Security Guard Duties and Responsibilities
Security Guards shall perform the following duties (including those assigned to NightWalk when not providing escort assistance):
Roving patrols of buildings, parking lots/garages and bike racks for criminal and/or suspicious activity
Building and vehicle admits
Building checks and sweeps
Special security details as assigned
Other specified functions determined by the on-duty supervisor

Specific Duties and Essential Functions
Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle

Aviation Security Guard

This is a full time position.
Under general supervision, patrols airport grounds, terminals, and facilities to provide a security presence, deter criminal activity, prevent unauthorized airport access, enforce security rules, and perform related duties as required.
Patrols airport terminal areas, grounds, and perimeter to ensure areas are secure
Identifies improper activity or irregularities and provides security and customer service to the public
Monitors access to restricted and secured areas, stationed at designated checkpoints to check, verify, and validate identification badges of individuals
Observes vehicles and checks vehicle information including proper signage, stickers, and license plates to ensure vehicles are authorized prior to allowing access to the airfield and other restricted areas
Makes security checks of assigned areas to ensure access control devices are working properly and areas are properly secured
Issues citations for traffic violations on the airfield and airport roadways, and non-traffic citations for security violations including failure to display identification badges by airport personnel
Detains individuals found violating or suspected of violating city, state, and federal laws.
Physically searches properties and vehicles.
Contacts and coordinates with airport and/or local Police Guards.
Responds to incidents and disturbances occurring on airport grounds, assessing the situation to identify safety factors, securing the area and requesting needed backup and assistance
Prepares reports documenting incidents and irregularities and maintains daily work activity logs
Maintains crowd and traffic control in terminal areas; escorts vehicles and personnel onto airfield and controls movement of vehicles on airside
Conducts patrols and security checks in support of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Airport security programs and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Airport Emergency Plan (AEP)
Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment as needed
Drives/operates security vehicles and uses radios to maintain communications in the performance of duties
Establishes and maintains working relationships with airport tenants to address security issues and concerns and follows up with tenants regarding the status of complaints/incidents
Testifies at judicial proceedings and administrative hearings

This position reports directly to a school principal. General instructions are given for weekly work assignments, and the incumbent may meet with the supervisor several times during each school day. Incumbent should serve as a positive role model for students. The incumbent has nearly constant contact with students throughout the day while performing assigned duties. Incumbent interacts with principals and teachers on a daily basis. Incumbent may also have contact with visitors and other members of the public while they are on school property.

Responsible for ensuring operations and recording of all security equipment and for enforcing company security policies, procedures and regulations to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring operations and recording of all security equipment and for enforcing company security policies, procedures and regulations to ensure the safety of employees and visitors
Operates and responds to fire or Radionics panels to silence or reset as needed. Confers with the appropriate monitoring Company about the situation
Coordinates responses to various emergency alarms such as fire, panic, chemical room, support equipment, medical, etc. by directing emergency vehicles and personnel to location of the incident
Complies, follows and enforces all procedures within the company security policy
Makes complete and accurate incident reports and forwards to appropriate personnel
Maintains records and filing systems, both hardcopy and electronics
Performs backups and archives of the systems as needed
Maintains key control sign out procedure and reports any loss or problems to Manager
Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma
Or equivalent with a 'D' security license is preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Patrol hallways and lavatories
Periodic checks of exterior grounds including parking lots
Breaking up fights between students and intervening in other conflicts as needed
Investigation of various incidents such as threats, thefts, potential fights and gang activity
Questions visitors entering the building
Attends training seminars and in-service workshops as scheduled
Maintains order in the school building, helping to promote a secure environment conducive to a positive educational experience
