Distillation Operator 1:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Run distillation units by connecting feed, product, and sludge tanks and apply proper amount of heat from boilers and maintain operating hourly logs to insure that unit is operating at peak efficiency
Charge and discharge pot stills with appropriate gallon amounts of liquid to run product to specifications.
Perform compatibility testing on a variety of hazardous materials to be mixed forrecovery to insure that mixtures are in compliance with recoveryspecifications.
Analyze process samples for water, solid, pH, specific gravity and chemical composition to properly and effectively meet specifications for all aspect of the distillation process including recovery,fuels blending and tank management.
Retrieve clean tank recovery samples and route to laboratory along with appropriate paper work to ascertain quality of recovery.
Load, unload, and sample bulk tankers and/or drums to ascertain accuracy of hazardous materials contents prior to applying the recovery process.
Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to insure optimum efficiency and effectiveness to completion of project(s) in a timely manner.
Non-Essential Duties and
Other duties as assigned including, but are not limited to, housekeeping, non-process related maintenance, yard tanker and van trailer driving, Lab Tech analysis,fuels blending, incineration blending and all other TSDF related tasks not related to distillation processing.

Distillation Operator - Operations
Candidates must be willing to train on 1st shift and then be assigned to work on either 2nd or 3rd shift depending on company needs.
Under general supervision, perform the duties required for the distillation process according to Firmenich’s safety, quality, housekeeping, service (punctuality) and cost standards.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation and monitoring of all Distillation equipment.
This includes all associated tanks, pumps, and filtration equipment.
Responsible for start-up, monitoring and shutdown of Distillation utilities; cooling towers, glycol chillers, vacuum pump, air compressor, and computer control systems.
Responsible for transferring product to and from Distillation area and associated tank farms.
Proficient in the operation of Gas Chromatograph to monitor processes and evaluate product.
Maintains appropriate records, process orders, and log books of all work functions performed.
Labels, stores and performs inventory transfers of intermediate and finished products produced utilizing SAP.
Correctly complete written batch records, written shift change instructions.
Responsible for maintaining good GMP’s and housekeeping.
Assist in the maintenance of required GMP and safety logs.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
Profile: High School Diploma or equivalent.
3-5 years experience in distillation and extraction processes.
Knowledgeable in the operation of Distillation columns, process control systems (Delta V), lab analysis.
Ability to work with flammable liquids and work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Food Safety and other internal safety guidelines Aptitude for mechanical work.

Versum Materials is seeking an Operations Technician - Distillation for the night shift.
The position of Distillation Technician requires the ability to understand and operate chemical distillation and sublimation systems for the manufacture and packaging of chemical products. The ability to identify when these systems are malfunctioning and then know how to troubleshoot them is critical.
Personnel in this position will possess a thorough knowledge of the manufacturing process, adeptness to respond to emergency situations in an appropriate manner, provide leadership, and serve as a positive role model for junior employees. A Distillation Technician must also provide input for Hazard Reviews, system engineering, and other projects. Because few individuals will be qualified to function in this capacity, personnel in this position must be on-call according to business needs or vacation and sick days for other operators.
Personnel in this position must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a strong team-oriented environment, and to provide training as well as coordinate the work of others.
In addition, the position requires basic understanding of the chemical properties being produced and packaged as well as measures used to prevent exposure, contamination, or release to ensure a safe work environment.
