Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis.
Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
Manages, assigns and supervises dock employees in the area to ensure proper utilization of employees, equipment, loading and unloading while meeting OD and customer expectations.
Manages all dock work schedules and time off requests
Provide analyses, suggestions and ideas for the improvement of operations within the shift, department and facility.
Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with local state, federal, federal safety regulations as well as OSHA compliance and DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance.
Operates AS400 system, BLU system, DYMS and any other computer/internal freight monitoring systems used within the company to monitor freight movement.
Complete forklift job training knowledge and uses a forklift as necessary within the service center.
Make quick and informed decisions based on the volume levels and communicates schedule to affected employees.
Inspects working conditions of tools and equipment needed for safe operation within the area and directs the correction of any improper or adverse condition that exists.
Comprehends and ensures compliance with company and government regulations.
Works assigned shift/s as needed, must be available to work depending upon customer pick-up and delivery scheduled.
Other Duties as assigned by the SVC Manager
High School Degree or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Position: Dock Supervisor
Forward Air is seeking a capable and career-oriented Dock Supervisor to lead our fast-paced shipping/dock operation. The qualified candidate will coordinate all activities of dockworkers, drivers and other support personnel. The supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. In addition, the supervisor will provide dockworker and driver training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary. Previous experience with cargo operations is a plus. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for dock operations
Directly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading and unloading trucks and trailers
Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules
Provide guidance to subordinates on goals and objectives on a weekly basis
Field customer calls on service issues, special service request, rates and new accounts
Ensure proper maintenance of facility, forklift equipment, trailers and handling supplies
Execute appropriate load plans and proper load balance to ensure safe vehicle operation
Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties
Maintain facility appearance, condition and security
Maintain record of those responsible for trailer seal verifications

Receiving Dock Supervisor
The Hobby Lobby Distribution Center services 800+ Hobby Lobby Stores across the nation. The campus, located in Oklahoma City, consists of the Warehousing, Manufacturing, Transportation and Corporate departments.
The transportation needs of the Distribution Center are provided by Hobby Lobby's private fleet, which is also based in Oklahoma City. The Warehouse operation, which spans over 9.5 million square feet, houses two types of distribution systems – Basic and Seasonal.
The Basic Warehouse System stretches over 7.0 million square feet and handles 70,000+ skus, processing weekly replenishment orders for all Hobby Lobby Stores. The Seasonal System occupies about 2.5 million square feet and pushes seasonal merchandise to the entire range of Hobby Lobby Stores.
The Warehouse Operation has an hourly employee base of 3000+ employees with 100+ members of management, led by three Group Managers, two Assistant Vice Presidents and other Area Managers, who reports to the Senior Vice President of Distribution.
FUNCTION Receiving Dock Supervisor
Reports to a Zone Manager.
Accountable for, but not limited to, the following assignments:

Environmental working conditions vary and employee may encounter vibration, noise, odors, and extremes in temperature and wind as well as exposure to varied weather, varied surfaces, sharp edges, varied lighting and confined and congested areas and occasionally exposure to petroleum-based products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, and grease.
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and maintain balance for extensive periods of time. Occasionally sit. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
