Under close supervision of a designer or more experienced drafter, performs individual, routine tasks to learn engineering and drafting practices. All decisions are made by a more experienced drafter/designer. This is an entry level position. The primary focus of an employee at this level is to learn drafting and engineering procedures under the direct supervision of a more experienced drafter/designer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepares drawings, sketches and layouts using basic drafting techniques
Revises or changes drawings as directed
Civil Drafter/Mapper oil and gas/midstream pipeline experience (preferred)
Performs routine dimensional calculations
Lays out and draws simple drawings, charts, graphs or diagrams based upon information provided by a more experienced drafter or designer
Maintains drawing files, assists in the assembly of engineering packages, and makes copies of drawings
Creates or revises word processing, spreadsheet or database files as directed
Prepares basic drawings of systems or project features from sketches and marked up prints
Copies or revises drawings based on sketches, verbal or written instructions
Supervision: Incumbent is closely supervised to insure accuracy and to promote learning. Procedures, techniques and final products for each assignment are clearly defined. Work is checked during progress and reviewed for accuracy upon completion
- High School Diploma (or G.E.D.)
- An Associate's Degree in drafting or an equivalent combination of drafting courses and work experience

Under general supervision, provides on-site supervision of the Directional Drilling (DD) process including projection of well path to predetermined target coordinates. Understands principles of Bottom Hole assembly (BHA) selection and aspects of DD performance and ensures that BHA's are assembled as planned including correct make-up torque, doping and handling.
Proficient in the use of DD computer software and able to assist in provision of advice and analysis to the client representative at the well site. This shall include all survey calculations and well path projections. Proficient in updating well profile plots and providing client representative with accurate directional survey data.
Aware of client's requirements with regards to surveying procedures. Assists in the completion of a daily DD report, BHA performance report for each BHA run, completion of all service tickets and relevant paperwork (well data spreadsheet, lesson learned/best practice, End of Job Customer Survey (EJCS) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) forms). Familiar with the DD aspects of the client's approved drilling program. Assists in the inspection of all DD company equipment delivered on the work site.
Interfaces with the MWD engineer to ensure BHA compatibility, planned operating parameters are within specification and correct tool face references are applied. Maintains records of all DD equipment at well site including dimensional data and condition. Ensure that all equipment is laid out after use in accordance with company procedures and manifested for backload at the end of the job.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Skills acquired through experience in the form of minimum 3 years driller/tool pusher or higher job exposure, or as a directional survey, or M/LWD engineer and verified through a pre-employment knowledge and skill assessment, followed by 6- 12 months working as a Field Prof-DD, I. Requires ability to read and interpret designed well plans, directional survey information and other well site data.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Drafter will be a member of the NuScale Power Testing and Code Development Department which is responsible for updating NIST-1 facility drawings. Utilizing SolidWorks®, AutoCAD®, and/or SmartPlant®, the Drafter will work alongside engineers to develop 3D models and 2D drawings of NIST-1 test facility drawing.

NOTE: As indicated in A above credit toward meeting statistical course requirements will be granted for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. Additionally, to receive credit for course work that is not catalogued on the transcript as Statistics or contain 'statistics' in the course title, applicants must attach an official course description for the course that clarifies that the course has statistical content, or written documentation (documentation must be on official school letterhead) from a professor or a school official verifying that the content of a course has either met the 50% statistics course requirements or was a statistical course if the course name in your transcript is not entitled as statistics.

B. Combination of education and experience - courses shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, b) collection, computing and analyzing data, and c) applying statistical techniques such as measurements of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the specialized experience listed below.
For GG-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes assisting in the design and development of specifications for data collection and data processing requirements for statistical studies and surveys, applying advanced statistical analytical tools such as regression analysis and measures of variance to socio/economic and demographic data, and assisting in the development of professional papers or reports on such data.
You have completed two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or you have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
For GG-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position include designing and developing specifications for data collection and data processing requirements, operating procedures, training materials, and operational schedules for statistical studies and surveys; applying advanced statistical analytical tools such as regression analysis and measures of variance to socioeconomic and demographic data, and assisting in the development of professional papers or reports; and coordinating field data collection activities for large scale statistical surveys.
You have 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree or you have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree.
For GG-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position include leading a team to plan a statistical survey or study; developing survey and data collection specifications and establishing time schedules for various phases of survey operations; establishing analytical methodology, design sampling and estimation procedures for surveys, and documenting work results and findings; and planning the analysis of the socioeconomic or demographic data developed by the survey or study.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
