Positions are open at the Wayfarers (1), Big Arm (2) and Finley Point (2) Units of Flathead Lake State Park. Positions will begin early to mid-May and end in mid-September.
There are two positions open: Park Attendant at Wayfarers (1), Finley Point (2) and Big Arm (1); Entrance Station Attendant at Big Arm (1).
Flathead Lake State Park consists of six unique park units located around Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. The park units on the east side are Wayfarers, Yellow Bay and Finley Point and the west side units are West Shore, Big Arm and Wild Horse Island. In addition to boating, swimming and fishing, each park unit offers unique experiences including camping, rental picnic shelters, group camping, hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
Park Attendant positions work 30 hours one week and 40 hours the next week, totaling 70 hours per pay period. There are two work shifts in each park unit: one is Sunday thru Thursday and every other Saturday, and the second shift is Wednesday thru Friday and every other Saturday. Daily shifts are 10 hours per day; 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Physical labor is required for the Park Attendant position. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform moderate physical activity for extended periods and strenuous activity for short periods.
The majority of work is performed in an outside park environment; however the position may require some travel outside the park property primarily for training purposes. The incumbent will be required to work weekends and holidays.
Entrance Station Attendant:
Entrance Station Attendants work 40 hours per week. The work schedule is five days per week, Friday through Tuesday. Daily shifts are 8 hours per day; 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Identity of applicants who become finalists may be released to the public if the Department deems it necessary. Employees who exceed 1,040 hours in a calendar year are also provided health, dental and life insurance.

Entrance Station Attendant:
This position is responsible for the customer service, fee collection, and campground reservation system operations. Staffs entrance station and greets and assists visitors as they enter the park.
Answers questions and provides information to visitors in person and on the phone. Performs recreation fee collection and campground reservation system operations following guidelines defined in the Montana State Parks Outdoor Recreation Management System (ORMS/Active Works) Operations Manual. Closes and balances cash drawer daily.
