Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY
Performs and monitors the drill and blast activities.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain safe work environment through a variety of means including worker training and safety inspections.
Monitor blast rock inventory and report to the Quarry Superintendent any recommendations.
Review drilling operations and confer with Quarry Superintendent to resolve production or processing problems.
Monitor blast rock standards to ensure blast rock finished product is of prescribed quality.
Collaborate with Quarry Superintendent and provide suggestions or recommendations for improving drilling and blasting operations.
Coordinate with designated Blaster and Quarry Superintendent to ensure all Drill & Blasting standards are followed.
Move drills as needed to designated locations within quarry and safely maneuver into position to drill blast holes.
Operates drill as needed to drill holes according to drill pattern.
Maintain bits, hammers and steel tubes and can change steels as needed.
Inspect and maintain drill's mechanisms, lubricant systems and fluid levels.
Prepare and maintain production reports and maintenance records.
Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
Make minor repairs by replacing gaskets, filters, hoses, etc.
Complete drilling and blasting reports as required.
Coordinates and maintains drilling supplies inventory.
Assists in drill and blast pattern design layout.
Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
Oversee commercial drilling & blasting operations.
Must be able to obtain a valid CDL with a hazmat endorsement.
Must be able to travel as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED and at least one to two years related experience and/or training; or

This position may require you to wear a half mask respirator at times and therefore, you will be required to be fit tested. Per OSHA "The Respiratory Protection standard, paragraph 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A), states that respirators shall not be worn when facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function.
Facial hair is allowed as long as it does not protrude under the respirator seal, or extend far enough to interfere with the device's valve function. Drill Operator - 3Rd Shift
Drill operators independently set up and operate multiple machines simultaneously to drill holes, slots, counter-bore, etc. in panels per customer requirements. This is a second shift position with the hours of 3 PM - 11:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Ability to train on an earlier shift for several months is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform standard and complex machine set-ups including downloading of drill programs
Verify the travelers, prints and CAM programs
Selection and set-up of correct bits
Alignment of panels to the machine
Perform registration analysis using x-ray machine
Make corresponding scale corrections
Visually inspect panels for hole-size and missing holes utilizing drill check film
