The Press Operator Helper is responsible for assisting with the set-up of the press machine used to form steel plate.

Comply with all established safety guidelines.

Remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process products from discharge unit of printing press or adhesives coating equipment. Review signatures for smearing, register issues, bad folds, etc and notify the Pressroom.
Remove folded signatures from web press and place signatures on pallet or skid for removal to warehouse or binding areas. May adjust stacking mechanism on press according to paper dimensions. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, carts and trays.
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher. May occasionally operate automated equipment and/or industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Basic knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and familiarity with the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures. Able to stock, move, jog, arrange, unload, count and rotate items on/off printing press equipment in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a press operator or supervisor.
May require knowledge of operation of automatic counters and tabulate counts for jobs. Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials. Basic skill in the use of manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as hammers, pliers, strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment.
Previous experience as a roll tender or press helper/jogger in a commercial print operation preferred.
Day Dry Forklift Operator
The Forklift Operator will transport incoming freight to inventory from staging areas for storage in the appropriate slots, on the multi-level racks in the assigned warehouse area and replenish / re-stock pick slots in a timely manner ensuring all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality standards are met and to maintain the efficient flow of the production process. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines. Ensure work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.
Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations. Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
Meet required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
Work from receiving sheets, computer print-out, established procedures and practices, written and /or verbal instructions.
Locate and perform count check of incoming freight in the staging area and transport to freezer with forklift / pallet jack.
Inspect items for damage, perform temperature and quality checks and take appropriate action as needed.
Locate proper slot on storage racks, set pallets in place with forklift or hand stack items, enter product data and location into RF unit.
Replenish pick slots with outgoing stock items according to next day's work orders.
Rotate date-sensitive stock to the front of the rack and / or remove out dated out of date inventory according to company policy.
Disperse over-stocked items to available slots for temporary storage.
Remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper area or receptacles.
Inspect empty pallets for damage, stack and move pallets with pallet jack or forklift to the proper storage area.
Perform general housekeeping duties in work area as needed.
Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries and complete vehicle inspection checklist.
Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.

*Performs a variety of manual labor duties in the reel, plate and pressrooms. Must be able to read and comprehend manufacture specs and assist in press set up. Duties include but are not limited to:
Maintains reel runs, ensuring reels are loaded properly and paper is not damaged during loads. Removes cores from the press.

Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single or multi-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work which includes large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical or operate similarly situated equipment that applies a variety of non-ink based coatings to a paper web or sheet stock. Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run (sheet wise or work and turn). Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work. Requires knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments. Skill to read and understand job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
Must have sufficient knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most approrpiate use of the press and corrective adjustments required to run efficiently. Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run. Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment. Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides and the timing of the head stops).
