POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assigns beds according to needs of patient, available staff, and physician preference.
Promotes a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as, nursing medical, respiratory care, laboratory, pharmaceutical and public relations.
Demonstrates excellent skills in planning, organizing, and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operation of the department.
Manages the practice of professional nursing and support positions within the department to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards.
Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
Executes decisions in the absence of the Administrative Staff.
Understands all functional areas with the hospital.
Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.
Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.
As a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriately to a manpower request (Code Grey).
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Patient Care Operations, a registered nurse who assumes responsibility for personnel, management, and coordination of nursing service activities for the scheduled working shift. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for the care of the patient. The Administrative Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing, and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and both clinical and administrative policies.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates sensitivity and respect to the patient, family and/or significant other(s) as an individual and family unit.
Assists staff in identification of cultural and religious needs, language barriers, ADA, etc., as well as modifying plan of care as necessary to accommodate these needs.
Demonstrates understanding of end of life decisions and provides appropriate support for Advanced Directives, and DNR decisions.
Serves as advocate for patients, family, and significant other(s) in regard to decisions affecting the plan of care and dealing with institutional policies and procedures.
Serves as a resource for the process for referral of cases in which there is ethical conflict.
Provides for the privacy of patients/family to the degree possible.
Assures that nursing activities are conducted ethically.
Maintains confidentiality when sharing employee information.
Assists staff with assessment and reassessment in accordance with unit standards and/or patient condition.
Based on assessment, helps plans and implements care when needed.
Includes the patient/family/significant other(s) in plan of care whenever possible.
Collaborates with staff regarding appropriate utilization of ancillary services.
Ensures compliance with ADA
Ensures maintenance of Facility Scheduler, i.e. edits, census and scheduled staff every shift.
15. Facilitates the appropriate us of seclusion and restraint in accordance with hospital policy and serves as resource for hospital staff.
16. Maintains Sitter Data.
17. Assists staff with the recognition and reporting of signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect.
18. Provides for monitoring/assessment of the patient receiving conscious sedation in accordance with policy.
19. Maintains clinical competence and is able to provide nursing care as needed.
20. Demonstrates professional a supportive style and clear communication in dealing with patients/families/significant others, staff, physicians and the public.
21. Promotes ongoing patient/family education in collaboration with hospital staff .
22. Supports QI/QA process.

General Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The House Supervisor assumes 12-hour responsibility for all department activity to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Provides clinical leadership and administrative functions. Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care
Monitors high risk procedures to assure compliance to hospital policy and provide direction to staff. (Example: restraint procedures, transfers, emergency codes, autopsy, deaths and others)
Responds to patient/family complaints and works toward a timely resolution
Current licensure as an RN within the compact states
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
