The Reel Mounting Operator will work in the Picking Department, specifically tying and winding fly-line to fly fishing reels. In this position, this individual will be expected to learn all functions related to Reel Mounting, as well as cross trained in the Picking Department.
Company Interfaces:
This position reports to the Picking Supervisor and closely interacts with Inbound and Outboard departments
Key Performance Measures:
Productivity – measured in quantity of items per hour
Quality – measured as errors (product damages, failing to follow customer order requests, etc.)
General Responsibilities:
Tie specialized knots in order to connect fly-lines to reels.
Operate the reel winder.
Learn and adhere to departmental Standard Operating Procedures manual.
Ensure accuracy of tasks performed; attention to detail.
Properly maintain, clean and protect from damage assigned equipment.
Produce quality product for customer satisfaction.
Communicate discrepancies and/or problems to Lead Associate and/or Picking Supervisor.
Work well with little or no direct supervision.
Maintain safe, clean and orderly work space by following all safety policies and procedures.
Dependability; maintain attendance per policy.
Work flexible hours on short notice, as customer demand indicates to deliver "World Class" customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Preferred experience operating a reel winder.
Preferred experience in high volume distribution center.
Preferred knowledge of a radio frequency scanner gun.
Fine motor dexterity; be able to learn to tie complicated knots.
Match colors.
Read a measuring tape.
Speak, read and write English.
Good math skills.
Computer keyboard experience.
Be able to stand and/or walk for long period of time on concrete floors, as well as, able to climb stairs/steps.
Work in a warehouse that is not climate controlled; environment includes dust, varying cold, hot and humid temperatures.
Manual dexterity; ability to reach; able to bend and move with agility.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Strong teamwork.
High school diploma/GED.
Fly-fishing experience and a passion for the sport, a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.
Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Cross trains and assist Helpers, Stackers, and Bundlers with job duties on the machine.
Cross-train on other machines.
Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,
Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Must be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Switches duties with stacker as necessary.
Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
To maintain the quality of the extruded product and it's packaging
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Places the correct reel onto reeler and prepares for start-up. Reel must be in good condition
Operates reeler (Manual and auto mode)
Monitors print and footage markings, and makes corrections as needed
Monitors for continuous stripe (if required)
Knows and understands the quality requirements for all products being produced
Makes all checks that may be required to assure that the product being wound on the reels meets the product requirements. These checks will include but are not inclusive:
Check for proper puller pressure
Check for stuck cable on C-I-D (Cable In Duct) products
Check for hot spots on the duct
Check surface temperature of duct
Check for print quality
Check surface quality of duct
Check for holes, die-face build-up on duct
Check for loss of stripes
Before making the necessary adjustments, informs the supervisor or Line Operator of problem areas
Ensures wraps on reels are neat
Cuts conduit, ties-off, and caps conduit when each reel and cable (if applicable) is complete
Paints and stencils wood reels (if required)
Grinds line scrap as it is produced and stacks scrap
Assists Line Operator in line start-ups
Maintains a neat and orderly work area
Assists other operators in cutting conduit, tie-offs, and reel changes
Follows all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelines
Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Completes appropriate paperwork to ensure accurate inventory transactions
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED is desired
Ability to read and write English
Ability to perform simple math, add, subtract, multiply, divide and take measurements
OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift more than 100 pounds with reasonable assistance
Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance
Ability to climb ladders, listen to equipment, look for defects in product and sense temperature changes in the finished product
Ability to hold conduit and drive nails into reel flanges simultaneously
