This job will require the individual to work on customer's property changing out Electric Meters. This requires a self-motivated individual who can work well with little supervision, and who takes pride in their work. Must be able to work in inclement weather to complete the work.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Records gas consumption data from residential, industrial, and commercial customers using electronic remote reading device mounted in company vehicle; reports data for Marketers to use for customer billing.
Representative Duties and
- Downloads meter reading route(s) daily; enters route information into ENSCAN electronic data
collection units in vehicle; drives route and collects data from Electronic Reading Transmitters
(ERTs) mounted on customers' meters; uploads data at end of work day.
- Reviews Missed Meter Report daily to identify incomplete meter readings; performs special
ENSCAN and manual readings to obtain meter data.
Maintains electronic equipment to ensure accurate readings.
Troubleshoots ERT problems: inspects, reprograms, repairs, removes, reinstalls units.
Interacts with customers via telephone and in person to obtain information and answer
- Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route; updates systems and
- Maintains and repairs ENSCAN and ERT equipment to ensure accurate meter readings;
removes lithium batteries and disposes as hazardous waste.
Converts non-ERT meters to ERT system.
Performs shut-offs, on occasion; paints meters; removes meters.

Installs and tests new and existing metering equipment and maintains all meters and related equipment. Performs routine inspecting, testing and servicing of all types of meters and metering equipment in the field or shop. Answers trouble calls to Hawaiian Electric customers.

As a Senior Meter Electrician at the maximum level, performs the following duties. As a Senior Meter Electrician at lower levels, performs the following duties under direction and direct supervision in accordance with the various stages of training.
Installs, wires, inspects and tests new and existing meter installations in the field and replaces fuses when accessible from ladder or safety stool.
Uses electrical standard instruments such as ammeter, voltmeter, wattmeter, rotating standard, power factor or phase meter, phase sequence indicators, etc. Utilizes computers and laptops to test, calibrate, and download information from meters.
Installs or works with linemen in the installation of current and potential transformers on high voltage circuits, using heavy tools such as monkey wrenches, stillson wrenches, and pipe tools for cutting or threading pipe; lifts and carries heavy equipment as required.
Reads all types of meters and collects data on all types of recording meters.
Required to do meter records work including transaction edit report.
Directs or checks the work of personnel of lower classifications assigned.
Repairs and checks mechanical, electrical and electronic metering devices.
Checks and tests all secondary standards as required.
Maintains records for all phases of testing and installation.
Answers trouble calls to Hawaiian Electric customers.
Checks and resets low voltage (600V and below) circuit breakers.
Makes temporary or permanent repairs to customers' equipment and services, if possible.
Performs all duties of the lower classifications.
Replaces low voltage (600V and below) and primary voltage potential transformer fuses.
Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free and safe work place and conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations in accordance with established Company policies.

Takes the lead on homogenizing the electric meter standards across KU and LG&E.
Supports the Operational Performance group in developing detailed process maps for various business processes impacted or driven by changes in metering operations, rates and tariffs, and Advanced Meter System deployment initiative.
Serves as a technical resource to the Team Leaders and Meter Technicians.
Develops meter specifications and supports the Team Leaders in procurement of new meters and meter test equipment.
Strives to become a Meter Asset Management system (e.g., Radian/WECO WattNet Plus) expert user and support contact for the department.

A Utility Meter Field Operations Manager oversees field operations involving water meter maintenance, installation and measurement. The work of this class involves directing the activities of water meter reading, water meter inspection, installation, maintenance, store keeping and distribution work units.
Incumbents receive general supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek, subject to 24-hour callback as required for emergencies.
Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal; however, incumbents are on-site of water back-ups and stoppages due to water meter malfunctions where there may be exposure to inclement weather, extremes of heat and cold, odors or traffic. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
