Journey Electric Meter Technician
The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is currently seeking a skilled Journey Electric Meter Technician who has experience with AMI/Smart Meters.

As a member of the Electric Meter Shop, you will be on the ground floor of advancing the meter shop to new metering technology and developing new strategies and approaches as the meter shop increases technology while successfully teaching shop apprentices. The selected candidate will work in a team environment to service, test, and calibrate all single-phase and poly-phase electric watt hour, demand and recording meters (electro mechanical, and electronic), instrument transformers and related test equipment. Typical responsibilities include:
Wire primary and secondary instrument transformer watt hour and reactive metering circuits.
Investigate customer metering and voltage complaints, vandalism, power diversion and related metering problems.
Create computer programs for various meter types, and forms.
Assists/trains apprentices in working on energized and de-energized systems and equipment.
Skilled in the use of various power tools, work on ladders, rooftops and be able to operate and work from bucket trucks.
Receive meter shipments, number meters, record information and update customer records.
Use customer accounts and billing systems, material management system, NIIPS and other network service systems on a daily basis.
Deploy and troubleshoot commercial & residential AMI/Smart Meters

Education: Successful completion of a 6000-hour EWEB approved Electric Meter Technician Apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. AMI installation experience, and continuing education is preferred.

Electric Meter Reader
Working under the direct supervision of the Meter Foreman, performs all tasks and responsibilities related to the reading of electric meters throughout the City of Logan. Backup support for Electric Meter Service Worker in performing electric meter disconnects and reconnects.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of the workings of a meter would be desired but not necessarily required.
Ability to work with numbers and perform basic mathematical computations. The ability to work for extended periods of time in all types of weather. Must be able to walk for extended periods of time and at a fairly rapid pace since time is of great importance to the completion of this assignment.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public. Must have a valid driver's license or be able to obtain one.

Technical knowledge of all types of electrical meters, electrical recording instruments, and meter-related work practices, tool, materials and equipment; knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and familiarity with the National Electric Code.
Proficiency in the programming, testing and repairs of electronic meters and ability to trouble shoot electrical circuits.
Knowledge of Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Automated Metering Reading (AMR).
Strong knowledge of mathematics with a solid understanding of electricity.

Nature of Work
Performs a variety of skilled work and services in the installation and maintenance of natural gas meters and related apparatus in order to ensure efficient gas service to residents and businesses. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, and responding to customer issues. May also involve performing work alone or apart from other workers.
Must attain precise set limits, tolerances, and standards and may be subject to standby rotation. Position works inside approximately thirty (30) percent and outside approximately seventy (70) percent with exposure to all types of weather and traffic conditions; exposure to gas fumes, chemicals, fire explosion hazards, and burns from contact with heated elements. Protective clothing includes safety shoes and glasses, and gloves.
Heavy physical effort is required to perform job functions including ability to walk up to three (3) miles each day, climbing ladders, balancing, crouching, squatting, and reaching above shoulder height; frequent pushing/pulling up to eighty (80) pounds and lifting up to ninety (90) pounds from floor to waist. Sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities, acute sense of smell, vision or other powers of observation, manual dexterity, and personal mobility and physical reflexes sufficient to effectively and efficiently perform essential job functions.

Duties and Responsibilities
Performs tests and adjustments of gas meters, including base pressure and base volume indexes; maintains reports of repairs, testing, and meter replacements to ensure accurate records are maintained and work performed is in compliance with standards, policies, rules, and regulations.
Sizes gas meters and regulators; responds to customer service orders, which may include turning service on/off and lighting appliances, in a timely fashion to minimize potential disruption of services.
Operates natural gas and carbon monoxide detection equipment, pipeline locators, electrical volt meters, light motorized equipment and other specialized gas system equipment to perform daily functions.
Conducts carbon monoxide tests and shut-in tests to ensure standards are maintained and in accordance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
Provides support and assistance to other staff to service, repair, and replace large-capacity meters and instrumentation.
May install gas appliances and gas system components as needed and directed.
Equivalent to a high school diploma PLUS two (2) years of experience as a journeyman natural gas fitter is required. Experience working with natural gas distribution systems is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Valid driver's license and Journeyman Gas Fitter License required. Must become Operator Qualified (OQ) within sixty (60) days of hire. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City policy.

7225 TROUBLEMAN, ELECTRIC
An employee with at least two (2) years of experience as a Lineman, engaged in performing any overhead and underground work in connection with maintaining electric service to the public, including the installation of all types of customer services, including risers and terminal connections when the service is to be underground, meters and materials, replacing line and transformer fuses; patrolling, switching, restoring service on "no light" and "no power" calls and operating unattended substations. Must be qualified to perform switching.
May install Company owned customer outdoor lighting service equipment, may make short secondary extension using bundle conductors and may perform emergency maintenance and/or repairs to overhead and underground secondary and primary circuits which he is equipped to handle. May do minor repairing on customer's equipment. Must be qualified to work with the public.
A Troubleman may work alone or may have additional personnel assigned to assist him. Troubleman when working in a two man unit performing work as outlined above may have any one (1) of the following as an assistant: another Troubleman, a Lineman, or an Electric Serviceman. When installing services the assistant may be an Apprentice Lineman assigned for training as provided under the apprentice training program.
When working on work as outlined above in a three man unit the Troubleman may be assisted by another Troubleman and one (1) Electric Serviceman or by two (2) Electric Servicemen.
If any other combination of three (3) or more persons is used or work is performed other than outlined above, the unit shall constitute a crew and will require a Working Foreman as part of the complement.
A Troubleman shall be required by Company to reside within a thirty-five (35) mile radius of the Company headquarters to which they regularly report.
