This engineering position involves engineering support from conception, through manufacturing, verification, through full operation of the system. Job responsibilities include:
Support development for space system projects related to but not limited to battery charge/discharge systems for Li-Ion batteries.
Develop and implement circuit design, participate in test and verification, and operation of the as-built hardware.
Provide in-depth oversight of projects and develop requirements for the battery interfaces.
Review and analyze vehicle Electrical Power Distribution and Control data.
Research and analyze power system problems and performance utilizing schematics and software tools.
Represent NASA EPS System Engineers in control boards and Problem Resolution Team meetings.
Review and resolve on-orbit anomalies of EPCE and distribution systems.
Review problem resolution documents for power systems and flight hardware.
Interface with prime contractor EPS System engineers.
Support development and review of EPS requirement specifications
Review electrical design of power supplies.

For a Senior Level Electrical Engineer, following are some specific duties & responsibilities:
Perform marketing, project development, and proposal development for electrical upgrade and multi-discipline projects;
Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel;
Developing scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans;
Preparing engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules;
Performing Project Management duties on electrical discipline projects;

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from accredited program. Minimum 7 years of related experience. Experience in power generating facilities, process facilities, and/or large industrial facilities including the following design types, is strongly preferred: medium voltage, low voltage, lighting, grounding, electrical equipment control, protective relaying and associated systems design and construction administration. Software experience utilizing SKM Power Tools, ETAP, SmartPlant, SmartPlant Electrical, or similar software is preferred. Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred. Summary: The APL Space Exploration Sector (SES) is developing highly complex spacecraft for a number of unmanned planetary, heliophysics and national security missions. Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation – Marine Systems (NGSC-MS) is seeking a Design Engineer with in depth knowledge in the discipline of Power System Engineering. An electric power system is the world's tool for energy conversion, distribution, and utilization. As Northrop Grumman Corporation continues to advance in electric machinery for power generation and propulsion, the discipline of power systems engineering will be recognized of utmost importance for system protection and reliability. The candidate should be familiar with principles of electric machines (generators and motors for example) and associated equipment (drives, power converters, rectifiers/inverters/transformers). More importantly, the candidate should be intimately familiar with the distribution and utilization of electrical power in regards to risk analysis, system reliability, and power protection.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degree
14 years of experience in design and implementation of power distribution networks
Can provide leadership without authority to a diverse team of suppliers and stakeholders
Able to develop documentation for trade studies, design reviews, procurements, and acceptance test procedures
Demonstrated technical team leadership
U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (No dual citizenship)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Master of Science or Ph.D. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degree
12 years of experience in design and implementation of power distribution networks
Experience with electrical power system modeling and analysis tools such as Simscape Power Systems, ETAP, and SKM Power Tools
Familiarity with IEEE and NEC design guides and standards as applicable to a test facility system supplying loads for electric machine testing
Experience with electric machines for marine propulsion applications
Experience implementing designs meeting military specifications and requirements
Experience with naval nuclear propulsion programs
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Excellent communication skills
