Job Title: Journeyman Substation Electrician
Location: North Ft. Myers, FL
Work hours: Monday - Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm

We are searching for a Substation Electrician to join our Operations team located at the LCEC Service Center in North Fort Myers, Florida.
This position is responsible for the installation & maintenance of substation & distribution equipment. The following are essential responsibilities of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.
Responsible for all assignments, directives, schedules and programs as may be assigned by the substation supervisor or substation lead electrician.
Perform all phases of substation construction including but not limited to reading and understanding schematic diagrams and construction drawings, construction of foundations, erecting structures, installation of electrical bus, switches, breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, capacitor banks, circuit switchers, AC and DC systems, conduit and cable raceway, ground grid systems, pulling and terminating of cables, installation of control, metering and relay panels, etc.
Perform all phases of substation maintenance work which includes adjusting of switches, checking electrical connections, checking grounds, sampling and testing of oil, service and inspect equipment, AC & DC systems, update substation equipment records, trouble shooting mechanical and electrical equipment, breaker, regulator and transformer electrical testing, gas, hydraulic pneumatic and stored energy systems, reading and understanding wiring diagrams and schematic drawings and national electric code, etc. Gather information for recording of all electrical equipment serviced, repaired, and electrical tested, painted, etc.
Perform monthly inspections and gather all necessary data for reports and updating records. Perform switching on equipment at all voltages as directed by system operations in accordance with established LCEC practices. Responsible for the performance of assigned work in accordance with LCEC standards and practices.
Ensure safety rules and requirements are followed in accordance with the LCEC manual of safe practice. Experience to work energized equipment with rubber gloves, sleeves and hot sticks. Respond to after-hours work needs and assist with coordinating the emergency repair of the electric system.
Respond within the established timeframe to consumer and electric system needs and restore service in a timely manner following an outage. Maintain effective working relationships with employees & customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
High school graduate –or- GED equivalent.
Completion of a four year documented substation apprentice program -or - minimum six years experience as a journeyman substation electrician. This position is required to be on standby and work irregular hours. Valid Florida commercial driver's license (CDL-Class A), or must obtain within 30 days. Familiarity with personal computers and e-mail.

Southern California Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE's 5 million customer accounts.
The Substation Infrastructure Replacement Project Manager is primarily responsible for managing the Substation Infrastructure Replacement Scope Optimization Program. This candidate will support the Substation Infrastructure Replacement program that has an annual spend of approximately $200M. This position will initiate Substation Infrastructure Replacement projects that span the eight regions in our service territory, driving discussions, gathering scope (via scoping job walks), making recommendations, and attaining decisions/approvals from the sponsor.
Review and evaluate technical summaries of minimum-scope Substation Infrastructure Replacement projects from the Integrated Work Plan (IWP).

Supervision Received: Shall be under the general supervision of the Power Plant & Substation Electrician Foreman.
Install, troubleshoot and maintain communication, data processing, and computerized control equipment.
Keep operating records as required by the Company.
Maintain solid state devices, computers, telemetering equipment, protective relays, and switchboard instruments.
Be able to work front construction prints, wiring diagrams, and instruction books as well as make sketches of wiring circuits and maintain prints up to date.
Be familiar with and understand operating principles of power plant, computerized controls, substation equipment, and other equipment assigned.
Be able to use the following additional test instruments: oscilloscope, wattmeter, phase angle meter, signal generator, electronic coupler, phase shifter, and other instruments and last equipment required to test certain equipment.
Keep abreast of new equipment installed and test equipment required to maintain it.
Assist in training journeyman and apprentices.
P&C Electrician C - A
This position is posted as a range, P & C Electrician C-A; Pay grade and title will be based on the experience and qualifications of the individual selected.
Residency Requirement : within 30 minutes ' drive time of Dyess Substation under normal conditions.
Perform work associated with the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of all protection and control devices and related equipment under direct, immediate or general supervision. Such devices and equipment includes but is not limited to digital relays, electromechanical relays, intelligent electronic devices, Station Disturbance Recorders (SDR), digital fault recorders (DFR), oscillographs and event recorders, RTU's and station SCADA systems, statistical load metering, telemetering and transducers.
Additionally, install, maintain and operate all power line carriers (PLC), tone, pilot wire, fiber and associated P&C communications equipment. Respond to emergency call-outs and coordinate prompt restoration of service to customers as required. This list is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below.

DIRECT SUPERVISION - When a qualified person is working with/hands-on with the person performing the designated task.,
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISION - When a qualified person is near the structure/equipment and is in constant visual and/or verbal contact to the person performing the designated task.
GENERAL SUPERVISION - An employee of equal or higher classification, knowledgeable of the task at hand and not necessarily at the job site.
QUALIFIED PERSON P&C Electrician or Supervisor who is knowledgeable of the task or work to be performed, and is capable of performing the appropriate emergency rescue.
1.Assist in the performance of acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices and associated equipment in stations.
2.Test protection &control devices and equipment periodically and as required.
3.Calibrate protection & control devices and equipment on a pre-established schedule and as required.
4.Assist with diagnosis of trouble, mis-operation, or damage of equipment and assist with corrective action to affect repair and prevent recurrence.
5.Operate a computer device to test, calibrate, and retrieve data from protection & control and devices.
6.Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all power line carriers, station SCADA, and associated communications equipment or cables as assigned.
7.Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel following direction of the proper operating authority.
8.Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of any new and added equipment or systems as assigned.
9.Maintain test equipment and automotive equipment in good working order so that work can be performed safely and efficiently anywhere throughout the System.
10. Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and drawings as required.
11. Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
12. Perform all duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations, NERC and environmental compliance, and practices.
13. Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
