Gather information for recording of all electrical equipment serviced, repaired, tested, painted, TTR tested, meggar tested, dielectric tested, change of dielectric flui, loss evaluated, etc. 5. Perform monthly inspections and gather all necessary data for generation of reports and updating records. Make repairs and corrections on any abnormal findings. 6. Perform switching on equipment at all voltages as directed by the system operator or supervisors in accordance with established FKEC practices. 7. Responsible for the performance of assigned work in accordance with FKEC's standards and procedures. 8. Ensure safety rules and requirements are followed in accordance with FKEC safety manual and acceptable utility standards. 9. Comply with all state and local traffic laws. Have and maintain Commerical Drivers License. 10. Knowledgeable of and perform in accordance with all state and federal regulations concerning the handling, batching, testing, storage, clean up and disposal of any PCB or PCB contaminated dielectric fluids used or stored by FKEC. 11. Must be familiar with and have the ability to use wiring diagrams and schematics as well as the national electrical safety code, national electric code, REA codes, etc. Requirements Position requires medium lifting, awkward work positions and exposure to many adverse elements of weather conditions. Physical demands: the ability to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to exert a force of 100 lbs occasionally. Working environment: air conditioned offices with access to phone and radio phone. Substaion and generating plant environment: subject to extreme heat, excessive noise levels and vibration, exposure to mineral oil, lubricants, paint, cleaning agents, dust, compressed gases (nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene, dry air, etc.). Education: High school graduate or equivalent, and experience as a Substation Electrician. Training and Experience:Completion of FKEC recognized substation training course and have a minimum of two years experience as a Substation Electrician I or equivalent traninig or background experience.Must be competent in the use of schematics, drawings and wiring diagrams. Must posses a valid Class A CDL with an endorsement for operating vehicles with air brakes. If Class A CDL is not issued by the state of Florida, must be able to transfer to the State of Florida. Perform all phases of substation construction including but not limited to reading and understanding schematic diagrams and construction drawings, construction of foundations, erecting structures, installation of electrical bus, switches, breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, capacitor banks, circuit switchers, AC and DC systems, conduit and cable raceway, ground grid systems, pulling and terminating of cables, installation of control, metering and relay panels, etc. Perform all phases of substation maintenance work which includes adjusting of switches, checking electrical connections, checking grounds, sampling and testing of oil, service and inspect equipment, AC & DC systems, update substation equipment records, trouble shooting mechanical and electrical equipment, breaker, regulator and transformer electrical testing, gas, hydraulic pneumatic and stored energy systems, reading and understanding wiring diagrams and schematic drawings and national electric code, etc. Gather information for recording of all electrical equipment serviced, repaired, and electrical tested, painted, etc. Perform monthly inspections and gather all necessary data for reports and updating records. Perform switching on equipment at all voltages as directed by system operations in accordance with established LCEC practices. Responsible for the performance of assigned work in accordance with LCEC standards and practices. Ensure safety rules and requirements are followed in accordance with the LCEC manual of safe practice. Experience to work energized equipment with rubber gloves, sleeves and hot sticks. Respond to after-hours work needs and assist with coordinating the emergency repair of the electric system. Respond within the established timeframe to consumer and electric system needs and restore service in a timely manner following an outage. Maintain effective working relationships with employees & customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications: High school graduate -or- GED equivalent. Completion of a four year documented substation apprentice program -or - minimum six years experience as a journeyman substation electrician. This position is required to be on standby and work irregular hours. Valid Florida commercial driver's license (CDL-Class A), or must obtain within 30 days. Familiarity with personal computers and e-mail.

Physical Demands: This position requires typical physical demands found in the construction industry which includes, but is not limited to: heavy lifting, working on ladders, vehicle/equipment operation, and electrical hand tool operation, hand digging, outside and inside work. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. frequently; climb in/out of bucket truck; work at night and for extended hours.
Work Environment: Mostly outside inclement weather (extreme heat, thunderstorm & occasional cool temperatures). Will be assigned occasionally inside for substation shop work.

Supports the Department of Corrections’ (VADOC) mission, goals and objectives by performing the installation, maintenance and repair of security-related electrical equipment and institutional HVAC equipment.
To assist in other areas within the Building and Grounds department, including preventive maintenance, construction projects, carpentry, welding, plumbing, outside maintenance, etc. and provide supervision of offender work crews. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain the integrity of the existing structures and furnishings. Performs advanced electrical work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the facility’s electrical systems.
Supervises offender workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility’s electrical systems. Keys data into the Total Maintenance System (TMS) for preventative and inventory purposes. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent
. Valid Driver’s License. Licensed Electrician.
Considerable knowledge of the standard practices of the electrical trade, and demonstrated ability in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment; and working knowledge of the electrical codes. Considerable knowledge and demonstrated ability of heating, refrigeration, air condition operation repair & maintenance. Must be skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools used in the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of various systems.
Demonstrated ability to plan & estimate cost of projects, and ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment and HVAC electrical systems. Must have the ability to effectively supervise the work of contractors and inmate labor. Prefer proficiency in the use of personal computers for the preventive maintenance program and for correspondence purposes (including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel). Ability to use a computer, keep accurate and complete records.
Ability to perform work with minimal margin of error and work independently with little or no supervision. Ability to communicate effectively; work as an effective team member; and to receive and execute instructions from the immediate supervisor and /or lead worker. Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 75 pounds or more; to maneuver materials up and down stairs; to climb and work from elevated work stations such as ladders and scaffolds; and to work for long periods of time standing, walking reaching, bending, pushing/pulling. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including extreme temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications Prefer Master Electrician certification
. Graduation from an electrician’s apprenticeship program or vocational training program is preferred. Prefer EPA Type 1 and Type 2 CFC refrigeration license.
Prefer knowledge in VAV Boxes and controllers. Prefer knowledge in mini-split system, split systems and package units. Prefer multiple trades experience. Prefer correctional experience.
