Substation Electrician Foreman

Mandate:
Be proficient in all aspects of substation work in the Substation Operations Department for the purpose of providing safe and reliable construction, maintenance and operations of substations, line switching and voltage control equipment. Be able to operate test and maintain transformers, reclosers, breakers, batteries and manually and electronically controlled gang operated switches. Position will be required to assist in the training, construction, operation, testing and maintenance of substation equipment.
Job Functions:
Be proficient in all aspects of substation, testing, maintenance and construction activities necessary to maintain a reliable electric system such as transformers, breakers, pole top reclosers, regulators and regulator controls, capacitor and capacitor controls, battery and battery chargers as well as other devices and controls associated with substations.
Be proficient in maintaining and performing inspection and maintenance procedures on Transmission & Distribution line switching devices, voltage regulators, pole top reclosers, electronic controlled capacitor devices and substation equipment.
Be proficient in scheduled substation Visual and Operational inspections assuring any abnormalities are corrected for reliability of equipment performance. Perform thermographic inspections and reporting. Perform update, and maintain test and work procedures as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a Journeyman Substation Electrician.
Associates Degree in Electrical Technology or company approved educational equivalent such as Northwest Lineman College Substation Certificate and and two or more years of Substation work experience.
Ability to work on all tools associated with substation maintenance and construction.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL Driver's License with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with Company, State and Federal regulations and guidelines.
Perform duties and establish relationships in accordance with the Company's Core Principles.
Ability to operate computer software programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be available to work overtime when needed and/or during times of system emergencies.
Must live within the Ozark, MO response area (30 minutes response time to the Ozark Service Center)
Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Substation System Protection Supervisor
Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist in the design, maintenance and development of substation facilities for the electric utility. May review work plans, schedules and revise construction standards, procedures and practices.
Essential Functions
Plans and directs the protection, control, and, high voltage equipment work of substation staff such that the installation, maintenance, and construction of transmission facilities is accomplished with the goal of the organization;
Directs the protection, control, and, high voltage equipment work of substation staff to ensure correct performance for the effectiveness of the transmission system assesses;
Staff and maintain a highly skilled workforce;
Serve as a liaison to other organization departments including: Engineering, Control Center, Support Staff, Contract personnel, etc;
Maintain a working knowledge of complex and highly critical technical detail of events and activities for reporting and analyzing system operations;
Establish and arrange construction and maintenance activities to meet budgetary, scheduling, and compliance mandates for equipment from 120 volts to 345kV;
Manage NERC-693 PRC-005 maintenance program and serve as SME during audits periods;
Monitors capabilities, readiness, processes, procedures for normal and emergency restoration efforts;
Developing of documentation used to test and maintain protective relaying equipment, relay schemes, and associated communication equipment, including SCADA, to insure that protection and control facilities operate as designed and to insure system integrity and the reliable and secure operation of the ERCOT interconnection transmission points;
Develop, review, and issue switching orders for transmission and substation facilities consistent with LPL Switching and Tagging practices to ensure safety of field personnel for both normal/planned for maintenance and construction activities;
May serve on-call in system control room to assist in outage restoration efforts;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical related field with five years' experience in operations/management or ten years equivalent experience of transmission and substation protective relay systems or five years' experience as a Foreman or Lead Technician.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Operational knowledge of the transmission system (protection schemes, equipment limitations, etc.)
Thorough knowledge of electric distribution substation design, maintenance, and controls;
Knowledge of substation relaying schemes, controls, and SCADA systems.
Ability to:
Ability to communicate power system events through verbal, written and/or keyboarding techniques to other Transmission operators, Company management and ERCOT;
Communicate effectively with others;
Operate a computer;
Communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers and the general public;
Deal effectively with others in a courteous manner;

A minimum of 7 years of related or relevant experience including 4 years of construction, utility or other technical project management experience; experience must include at least 3 years in a Project Manager role or capacity. 8 years of construction, utility or other technical project management experience including at least 5 years in a Project Manager role or capacity plus 3 years in a Lead or Supervisory role preferred.

Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to travel. Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
