Electronics Engineer
Lynntech is seeking experienced and creative electronics engineer with expertise in embedded firmware development as well as circuit board design to join with our team in designing solutions for cutting edge research and product development projects. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and in collaboration with other engineering and science staff to solve technological challenges in multiple disciplines. The candidate will need a verifiable background of technology development and design work with at least 4-5 years of relevant experience. Please apply with both a resume and a cover letter detailing your experience in the technical areas sought with real world examples of your success. You should include narrative evidence of your successes and the failures which led you to those successes and detail your involvement with the team involved and your role on the team. If you feel locked into the same thing in your career, now is your opportunity to explore true R&D.
Some examples of cutting edge projects and applications that our Engineers assist on and the impact it can have on the world are described below:
Lynntech Engineers are leading an effort to develop advanced fuel cell based power systems for unmanned underwater vehicles as an alternate solution to batteries. If successful, this technology has such a broad impact these vehicles that we are designing power systems for have advanced sensing capability and have been used in tracking down wreckage and the black boxes of recent commercial and private aircrafts that disappeared. They are also used by the military for various stealth operations. Current battery based UUVs can perform missions that last only a very small duration of time, and these vehicles need to be charged overnight before they can go back out for another missions. If Lynntech's technology is successful, it will allow such UUVs to conduct missions that are twice as long, and can potentially be refueled and turned back around in 1/10th the time it takes batteries to be recharged.
Another example of an Engineering effort that Lynntech engineers are leading includes developing advanced image processing algorithms for airborne maritime search, which is among the most operationally demanding missions facing aircrews today. Detection requires constant, detailed scanning of a dynamic scene for a fleeting, subtle indication of the search target. The environment is physically taxing and missions typically extend over several hours. Current search methods rely on extraordinary human visual acuity and processing capability, unwavering focus, and luck. Lynntech Engineers are developing a revolutionary Wide Area Infrared imaging based technology that has demonstrated drastically improved detection performance for small maritime targets for both commercial and military applications. Our technology displays high-probability regions to the operator for several seconds substantially enhancing the opportunity for target recognition and subsequent identification.
Lynntech Engineers are also leading an effort to develop improved hypoxia training and simulation devices for the Department of Defense. High altitude flight presents many risks to pilots including hypoxia which severely affects cognitive function. Current training devices are bulky and impose heavy logistical burdens. Lynntech Engineers are developing a mobile, low maintenance, and lightweight Electrochemical Oxygen Separator based hypoxia training device with pressure-on-demand capability which delivers oxygen depleted air via an oxygen mask to the trainee. The device we are developing will increase overall training flexibility, safety, quality and efficiency. This same device could be used for hypoxia training for any and all pilots and aviators including the civil aviation sector. In addition to being a training device for commercial aviation, the technology developed has many civilian applications such as training for athletes, mountain climbers and elevated personal exercise. The technology developed may also be transitioned into portable, compact oxygen concentrators for medical purposes.
Lynntech engineers are involved in the following functions as part of their job:
Act in the capacity of a design lead in support of early stage research and prototype development.
Determine technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advanced technical engineering problems.
Address complex and difficult technical issues requiring highly creative approaches, drawing on advanced engineering concepts.
Formulate plans and guide the development and implementation of engineering solution(s) including design, procurement, assembly and testing, deployment including integration, resource requirements, documentation, compliance and safety.
Lead design and development efforts in the areas of embedded systems, firmware development, system control, power supply development etc.
Plan and coordinate the maintenance of engineering solutions including, documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical and other presentations to ensure viability of the solution(s) in an evolving environment.
Planning and execution of preliminary and critical design reviews, and associated design review documentation.
Assist in the generation of new ideas and concepts for the utilization of various technologies for solving scientific challenges in various applications.
Why should you work at Lynntech?
Your work will have impact and make a difference in the world: Lynntech employees get to work across various disciplines, and are engaged in all aspects of technology development from idea generation to commercialization.
You get the best of both worlds: We offer the infrastructure and stability of an established company as well as the challenge, benefits, and entrepreneurial spirit associated with a small business.
Your work will be interesting and varied: You will have the opportunity to be creative and work on a myriad of projects across various industries (defense, energy, aerospace and medical). If you can get buy-in for your idea and procure funding to pursue research, you will get to work on it.
You'll be able to contribute to the organization in a variety of ways: You will get to wear a variety of hats in this role some examples include core technology strategy development, proposal writing, research and technology development, product development, program management, business development, mentorship of young researchers.
You get to work with the best, the brightest, and the most creative: People are Lynntech's biggest asset. We employ personnel across a broad range of disciplines including physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, program managers, and business development.
