Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Use designated abrasive wheels, discs, or belts according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished or amount of metal to be removed.
Use a variety of grinding and polishing equipment, techniques and tools based on finish requirements.
Follow proper sequencing and selected abrasive mediums as determined by immediate to ensure optimal productivity and throughput.
Sets-up, use and maintain equipment with proper components and supplies so as to ensure optimal performance.
Grind, sand and buff surfaces to meet specified requirements.
Select and use proper clamping and holding devices whenever appropriate.
Use various types of material handling equipment including hand trucks, carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, etc. where required and available.
Maintain good housekeeping and a well-organized work area.
Complete paperwork accurately and timely as required in the manufacturing process, including but not limited to: Time and Attendance Sheets, Fabrication Routers, Nonconformance Reposts and Test Records.
Suggest changes for improved operations and cost savings.
Follow all safety policies, precautions, recommendations and procedures as may be applicable.
Assist other production departments or operations areas based on workloads and needs. Assist in other non-production areas as may be required by supervision and management.
Follow all company policies, procedures and work instructions in compliance with SP's Quality Management System.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum high school graduate level required.
Good judgment is required in determining proper tools, grinding mediums, and sequencing to optimize productivity while ensuring that all quality specifications are met.
Fork Truck Driver's License or training preferred.

Polish and finish molds and tooling
Read blue prints, follow written and verbal instructions, and specifications sheets to polish and finish intricate Molds and Tooling
Train on and utilize all tools needed to perform essential polishing and finishing functions including di-profilers, ultrasonic polishers, air powered hand grinders, hand tools and grinders, chain falls, carts, electric lifts, and all polishing mediums (to include stone, compound, and diamond paste)
Utilize basic inspection tools and train to use all inspection equipment necessary to achieve intricate details of tooling
Promote good employee relations and high morale

The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Blend, grind, and polish surface of dies, and aid in hot form die change outs.
Acquire required tooling by using internal procedures.
Prepare and maintain surface finish of hot form dies.
Visually inspect dies for surface imperfections.
Weld dies when required to maintain surface finish.
Assist hot form operators in die change outs when needed.
Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Measure work pieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devices.

Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications,
tool requirements, and operational sequences.
Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.
