Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) is the world's leading manufacturer and remanufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.
Today, ECG has eight facilities in four different states. We are currently seeking a full-time Polisher position at Ellwood National Crankshaft Services Dallas in Grand Prairie, TX. This non-exempt position may be required to work rotating shifts, 12-hour schedules and overtime as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Measure and prepare final dimensions of finished crankshafts.
Identify and make required adjustments with the correct abrasive material to bring the crankshaft to final product dimension and finish, including lapping, belt polishing, benching, and hand working.
Loads and unloads machine with aid of an overhead crane.
Install counterweights as needed.
Lubricates machines, checks and fills reservoirs, etc. on a daily basis.
Maintains working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
Reports defective material to inspection immediately.
Observes all safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary

As a member of a cross-functional team, responsible for polishing cast parts on a fixed jack stand belt/flap sander to produce a high-quality product in accordance with Pace Industries and customer requirements. Completes proper paperwork and documentation in accordance with work instructions. Recognize and quickly respond to any non-conforming or suspect conditions related to the cast parts. The polisher must setup their own polish equipment, maintain housekeeping, and be able to start and shut down their machine correctly. Responsible for troubleshooting problems and resolving issues independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the quality of the parts produced. Inspect parts for any non-conforming or suspect conditions.
Polish parts to remove/blend casting features and/or defects per documented instructions.
Complete hourly quality checks and fill out hour by hour charts if required.
Initiate containment of any non-conforming and suspect parts.
Clean dust collector system and replace filters.
Polish and pack parts. Record parts produced; scrap generated, scrap percentages, reasons for scrap and down time hourly.
Follows prescribed safety standards and wears required personal protective equipment, which include respirators and foam lined glasses
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to take instruction and constructive criticism
Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, in order to read and interpret work instructions and other job-related documentation.
Must be thorough with good attention to detail.

Inspects parts dimensionally and cosmetically during process.\r
Responsible to identify and record any problem relating to the product, process and quality system. Stop further processing of non-conforming product until deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.\r
Responsible to record the job steps in the PDR and any other information required in the documentation of the product and processes.\r
Expected Areas of Competence•Good knowledge of blue prints and math.\r
Requires an intermediate knowledge of metals & materials processed through department. Ability to read measuring devices, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and rule. \r

Perform polishing and specialty restoration techniques on assigned jewelry and silver according to Tiffany & Co. design and quality standards.

Advise Repair Services management of areas of concern regarding processing, work capacity and merchandise quality issues.

Develop product knowledge and grow technical skills by working with experienced coworkers on specialty restoration including Sandblasting, Rhodium and Enameling processes.
Technical training or 5 years of polishing experience with gold, platinum, silver and all types of precious stones.
Experience in use of multi or single-speed polishing machine and various rouges to complete the task
Ability to effectively communicate thought and ideas regarding polishing and the process
Experience in the washing of polished jewelry and silver
Experience with lapping machines
Understanding of the working of polishing equipment, dust collection and wash out equipment
Understanding of Plating Operations, Enameling, Silversmith and Sandblasting

JOB SUMMARY: Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs
from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces. Work
with both steel and carbide.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include:
- Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using
measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers.
- Lift and position work pieces, manually or with hoists, and secure them in hoppers or on machine
tables, faceplates, or chucks, using clamps.
- Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from
surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces.
Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, using knowledge of machine operation.
Measure work pieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devices.
Select machine tooling to be used, using knowledge of machine and production requirements.
Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications,
tool requirements, and operational sequences.
Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.
Activate machine start-up switches to grind, lap, hone, debar, shear, or cut work pieces,
according to specifications.
