Tasks & accountabilities
MERLIN is a Franco-German collaborative mini-satellite climate mission. The primary objective is to obtain spatial and temporal gradients of atmospheric methane columns with high precision and unprecedented accuracy on a global scale. A LIDAR uses the laser light scattered back from a surface to obtain measurements of the column content of a specific atmospheric trace gas between instrument and scattering surface.
Within this highly fascinating surrounding, we are looking for a Subsystem Manager for MERLIN's precisely stabilized optical laser transmitter. (m/f). You will be the official technical point of contact for locally managing three sub-contractors for MERLIN's infrared laser transmitter subsystem. Your location will be at Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Ottobrunn with frequent travels to German subcontractors.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
o Provide development and integration of Laser Transmitter Subsystem (TXA) components at the system level
o Identify all activities of the development life cycle that are necessary to develop a system/product and provide the level of confidence which is consistent with regulation and program requirements
o Define checkpoints and reviews with associated maturity expectation aligned with program phases and gates
o Provide sufficient detailed data and information about system elements to enable the implementation consistent with architectural entities as defined in models and views of the system architecture and in accordance with the allocated requirements

Engineer in Charge/Lead (EIC/Lead) - EIC/Lead is a front line supervisor with leadership and management responsibilities with technical skills greater than the FSE's they manage for a given ASM EPI (Entrepid) product line. The EIC will be responsible for performing and managing equipment upgrades, modification, etc. The EIC will have primary responsibility for managing all tools that enter into service escalations. The EIC shall be expected to provide expert sustaining advice to their FSE's and as necessary hands-on support. The EIC must be certified as equipment "expert" and will execute on-the-job training programs to maintain and improve the skills of the FSE's under their direct control.
- This position requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, material, chemical, and or related discipline. ASSET / BSEET or equivalent with management training. Equivalent industry experience will be considered
- 5-10 years in Field Service Management or technical supervisory role. Senior level equipment knowledge a plus in the following semiconductor deposition applications ALD, PEALD, CVD, PECV, and or EPI.

2.Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or related field. A commensurate amount of successful field service experience in capital equipment and/or facilities experience may be considered in lieu of the formal education requirement.
3.A minimum of six (6) years of experience with capital equipment / facilities engineering, or field operations within the MEMS or Semiconductor industries. Proven background in management/supervision or the ability to demonstrate supervisory skills in leading the efforts of technical service personnel.
4.A background in engineering or manufacturing preferred.
5.Excellent customer skillset which includes communication, priority setting, influencing and conflict resolution.
6.Self-driven with ability to prioritize work and accomplish tasks quickly with good problem solving skills.
7.Must be detail oriented.
8.Solid written and verbal communication for expressing technical ideas and initiatives.
