The Mechanical Engineering & Chemical Engineering Co-op will assist in the development and analysis of materials, processes, and/or equipment. Under direct supervision and guidance the individual will compile, analyze, and report operational and test data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified processes, and/or equipment.
Assist engineers/project managers in the daily management, planning, and execution of projects
Develop and/or maintain project status (cost and schedule) spreadsheets
Create and organize project documentation including P&ID's and work instructions
Procure and install Valve and Instrument Tags
Data gathering and analysis
Support business development efforts
Perform support duties such as making mathematical computations and developing chart and graphs, as needed under the direction of the Process Engineer
Work directly with outside contractors
Perform other duties as assigned
Drive continuous improvement of processes through the development of improved techniques and/or identification of improvements to equipment.
Take part in the design, installation, and commission of new production equipment, monitor modifications and upgrades.
Aide in troubleshooting of existing processes.
Apply the principles of mass balance and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual and detail design.
Develop/revise standard work instructions for new and existing processes.
Assist with the management of projects from concept to completion; ensuring the project is done on time and within the allocated budget.
Work with sub-contractors.
Utilize safety guidelines (e.g. OSHA standards) when contributing to design of processes and equipment.
Work closely with other engineers and team members to drive process improvements through Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Participates in design failure mode effects analysis and ensures product, process and system reliability and safety.

Role Summary:The Customer Order Engineering Manager
- Mechanical Component oversees a team to configure product, create Bill of Materials , Customer drawings and other technical deliverables for customer orders. Manages eng changes and ensures timely engineering approvals from customers and timely procurement of material required. Activities are performed in co-ordination with Technical Project Managers to ensure that engineering changes are approved on time to ensure timely delivery to the customer.
As the Customer Order Engineering Manager
- Mechanical Component you will:
Support a successful order transfer by ensuring a proper review of technical specification and seeks clarifications to ensure adequacy and completeness of information required to start engineering (creating Bill of Material and customer drawings)
Study customer's technical specification to acquire all necessary information to determine the technical configuration/definition of product
Support the Technical Project Managers by identifying any differences in technical definition of product from that offered, and assists TPM for resolution with the customer
Lead Product configuration and creating order BOM (all line items of Sales Order) by using AC1 configurator, as much as possible or if needed, request creation of new material using the MMRD database
Create BOM in SAP sales order (customer order) and notifies the TPM for costing the order, using the Order Tracking Record (OTR) tool. Update OTR to record date on which the sales order BOM is created
Responsible for creation of customer drawings, review and submission for approvals by using E3 and layout drawing using AUTOCAD.
Review drawings (self & peer) to ensure compliance with customer specification and to also ensure consistency between specification, BOM and drawings
Develop a proper system and ensures compliance for accuracy.
Properly communicates key milestones to internal team, i.e. Notify TPM regarding readiness of submission to customer
Ensure proper updates OTR to record date on which drawings are ready for submission and ensures uploading of all drawings in EDMATS as "Preliminary contract drawings".
Support with customer approvals by providing support to TPM for drawing approvals, participates in technical discussions with customers and facilitates resolutions, including revisions and re-submitting for approval.
Ensure all direct reports are properly uploading (check-in) drawings in EDMATS as "Approved contract drawings"
Engineering change management & notification to manage changes to sales order BOM and drawings using the ECN database ensuring timely notification to all stakeholders and authorization from TPM.
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel
Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs

Position typically requires a two-year technical Associate Degree (Mechanical Design, or other area of specialization) or equivalent and engineering experience. Demonstrated competency in design and use of engineering systems/tools. Continuing education.
0-2 years of experience in a variety of R&E development roles or other related experience
A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and across functional boundaries to complete projects within required timeframes.
Strong communication skills. Has the ability to effectively translate complex technical concepts to others.
Experience with Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD and 3D Modeling)
Experience with mechanical design standards
Familiarity with machine design including Hydraulic/pneumatic systems and Mechanical drives
Experience with SolidWorks
Experience with machine design
Experience with K-C Design Standards and Drawing Control Standards
Experience with High Speed Converting Equipment
Work assignments are primarily task based. Typical tasks include initial research into solutions to design problems, equipment checkouts, and drawing initiation and updates. You will be part of an engineering team using personal computer engineering tools and computer aided design software.
Our current opening is on the engineering team for the Kimtech Facility. The incumbent will report to the Kimtech Engineering Team Leader. The engineering team at Kimtech supports the facility as well as the business unit R&E Teams. This position will provide technical support to Kimtech engineering, operations and R&E. Specific duties may include design of mechanical components, drawing updates, troubleshooting, checkout, and documentation.

Mechanical Ground Support Equipment Engineer
As part of a small team, you develop space vehicle processing and launch operations Ground Support Equipment (GSE). You will emphasize ease of implementation, sustainability and maintainability of vehicle systems while actively identifying and preventing safety hazards. As a Structural & Mechanical GSE Engineer, you'll provide the primary structural and mechanical systems interface between the development, manufacturing and launch operations teams.
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Supports the design and development of mechanical and/or fluids systems for launch vehicle processing, integration, and launch operations
Conceptual and detail design of mechanical support equipment for launch support systems and interfaces
Vendor selection and project management
Develop and manage systems interfaces
Support development of concepts of operations and operability trades
Oversee equipment fabrication, assembly and installation
Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
Active involvement in functional checkouts and commissioning of equipment
Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status
Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers
Identify opportunities for operational cost savings
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, aerospace or aeronautical engineering
5+ years' experience with a background in launch vehicle GSE development, maintenance, and commissioning
Experience designing, building and commissioning GSE for handling, shipping and transporting vehicles and components
Experience selecting and implementing tools and equipment to provide access, ease of maintenance & refurbishment to support recurring operations
Mechanical Design experience using CAD and FEA-based analysis software
Experience with STAAD, ANSYS, or PTC Simulate
Familiar with applicable standards; ASME, ASIC, ASCE
Familiar with ANSI/ASME Y14 series specifications
Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with PTC Creo / Windchill
Experience with oil/gas, aircraft, launch vehicle or spacecraft mechanical systems
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience managing suppliers during design, procurement and build cycles of tooling and related components
Experience in tool design, jigs and similar hardware for manufacturing and test
Experience developing procedures for testing, checkout, commissioning and maintenance of equipment & tooling
