Folding Machine Adjuster/Set Up Technician

If you are mechanically inclined and like working on machines, this job is for you. We are looking for Envelope Folding Machine Adjusters/Set Up Technicians for 2nd shift (2:30pm
10:30pm, M - F) and 3rd shift (10:30pm
6:30am, Sun PM - Friday AM). You will be responsible for adjusting, troubleshooting, operating and preventative maintenance tasks. This position has a top pay rate of $23.32 plus shift premiums. There is a $.50 raise after the first 90 days and $.35 raises every 90 days afterwards until reaching top rate. In addition, there are merit raises based on performance, attendance bonuses and 401k match. On-the-job training is provided!
POSITION ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observes all safety rules and regulations.
Examines work order to determine specifications and sample verification.
Supplies proper tooling and components to the folding machines
Sets up folding machine per sample and order jacket specifications with the least amount of downtime.
Seeks appropriate approvals (OK’s) on every job that is manufactured on the equipment.
Troubleshoots operating difficulties including: analyzing machine operations, inspection of products, locating troublesome elements within machines and makes necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions.
Inspects product quality according to quality guidelines.
Maintains accurate counts of envelopes to boxes, cartons, and skids.
Adjusts folding machine and packs envelopes uniformly and neatly, also keeping up with the machine speed.
Seeks advice from management when quality is being jeopardized for machine speed.
Replaces gum window roll and roll of paper, as needed.
Checks order throughout course of production to ensure accurate labeling, printing, and packaging of product.
Removes paper jams and performs preventative maintenance when scheduled.
Follows all 5S expectations.
Transports finished goods to appropriate area.
Works as a team with the operator and other adjusters including other shifts.
Performs related work as required.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret ruler measurements.

The Folder Operator is responsible for the proper set-up and operation of an MBO Folder in accordance with established operating procedures for Yearbook and Commercial printing jobs.

Willing to work flexible hours and overtime with short notice. Must be able to properly lift 10 to 50 lbs. to shoulder height. Must be able to stand continuously through 8 or 12 hour shifts.

SUMMARY: Performs mechanical services and other duties associated with production of printed goods & converting of envelopes. Must be a MASTER ENVELOPE MECHANIC
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Set-up the envelope machines for production runs including size changes for envelopes and windows.
Seek appropriate approval on every job that is manufactured on the equipment.
Gathers all of the necessary parts and attachments at the machine prior to the time of a machine change, where it is practical to reduce downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe workplace.
Monitor the machines on a continuous basis to ensure consistent operation and quality of product.
Ensure that proper materials and components are selected and used for each job. Return unused materials and components to inventory after use.
Communicate with other shifts regarding concerns about equipment, maintenance, and other relevant information.
Monitor machine start-ups and shut-downs and ensure that proper maintenance care of the machines is being applied.
File the production reports from each machine. Report any unplanned downtime longer than 2 hours, with the reason for the downtime
Meet production requirements.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and assist Master Mechanic with coordinating PM schedules.
Responsible for maintaining written PM requirements for daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual maintenance.
Will assist Master Mechanic with parts and supply inventory to ensure all items maintain the required levels for routine equipment repairs and PM.
Perform machine repairs & assist department manager in coordinating repair schedules.
