EQUIPMENT CLEANER Mission Pharmacal Company, a privately held pharmaceutical manufacturing company, is seeking a motivated team player to join us as an Equipment Cleaner. Cleans and sterilizes machinery, machine parts, and equipment used to process or store products such as chemicals and tablets.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums the hallways, stairs, office spaces and product areas. Empties heavy trash and garbage containers. Operates buffer and floor scrubbers.
Notifies management concerning needs for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Turns valves to drain machines or tanks and disconnects pipes. Sprays machines, tanks, and conveyors with water to loosen and remove dirt or other foreign matter.
Scrubs machines, tanks, tables, pans, bowls, compartments, bins and conveyors. Rinses articles with water and dries them with compressed air. Scrub floors and walls.
Connects hoses and lines to pump and starts pump to circulate cleaning and sterilizing solution through hoses and lines. Scrubs interior of disconnected pipes, valves, spigots, gauges and meters. Mixes cleaning solutions and dilute acids.
Draws off samples of cleaning solutions from mixing tanks for laboratory analysis. Replaces defective sections of metal coils and lines. Lubricates machinery.
Puts bins together. High school diploma or general degree (GED) and a minimum of 6 months related experience preferred. Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our headquarters in Norfolk, VA.
Perform basic cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and trash removal within offices, garage, break room, restrooms, hallways, stairs and various work areas.
Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs/carpets, cleaning windows, walls and glass
Perform restroom cleaning, to include but not limited to, scrubbing sinks, toilets, ensuring that paper towels, soap and toilet paper and other sanitary items are readily available
Notified management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
Scrub, shine, clean and repair carpeted and non-carpeted area using appropriate equipment and chemicals
Moving large furniture and objects and following safety guidelines to prevent injury to themselves and others
Maintains all floors, i.e. stripping, refinishing and maintenance of various floor types and surfaces
Follows cleaning procedures in a safe manner
Completes all assignments as scheduled
Works independently to completed tasks and responsibilities
Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper storage locations after usage
Requisition stock and notify supervisor of supplies needed
Maintain grounds and sidewalks surrounding buildings
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Must be able to follow all safety requirements along with knowledge of safe rigging practices. Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands, climb and work at heights, work in confined spaces and around water, stand for long periods of time, stoop, knee, crouch, and crawl to reach work areas.
Required to wear personal protective equipment hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes, and when necessary, respirator
Other duties may be assigned as workload dictates + 2+ years experience in building / asset maintenance
Knowledge of and ability to use tools and equipment associated with the occupation
Ability to work effectively with others
Must be a steady reliable worker
Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions
Requires long periods of standing and moving with standing
Able to work 1st / 2nd / 3rd shifts, as needed

Cleaners perform a variety of routine manual tasks that require light, medium, and heavy physical effort in the cleaning and caring for an assigned area on campus that includes academic and office buildings, athletic facilities, a student and community center, student residence halls, and a health center and the adjacent grounds and sidewalks.
Cleaners work independently and as part of a work team performing a wide range of specialized and routine cleaning activities such as stripping and polishing floors, window washing, vacuuming, trash and recycling removal, dusting and cleaning walls. Work requires cleaning specialized areas within buildings such as; office spaces, kitchens, common areas, lounges, laundry rooms, locker rooms, classrooms and laboratories., This job classification is non-supervisory. Illustrative Duties:
Washing floors, corridors, stairs and stairwells, walls, partitions, windows from the inside or outside of buildings using mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning implements. Cleans spills and bodily fluids, including blood, urine, vomit, and feces.
Strips and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets and dusts and surface clean assigned areas using manual or mechanical equipment. Cleans and scrubs all areas of lavatories and locker rooms, such as sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, shower walls and drains, tile floors, and locker room common areas. Replaces light bulbs, dusts or washes light fixtures and high places such as ceilings using ladders and scaffolds.
Cleans and polishes furniture, metal fixtures, and equipment. Removes hazardous articles on floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places. Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning activities, or sets up for meetings or special events. Empties trash, recyclables, and waste, in accordance with cleaning schedule. Assembles cleaning cart to conform to assigned cleaning duties, and mixes and properly dilutes cleaning solutions in accordance with manufacturer directions.
Wears appropriate protective clothing, and other specialized protective equipment as required by the cleaning assignments. Checks supplies and equipment functioning, and notifies supervisor of low supply levels, equipment malfunction, and building maintenance issues noted during cleaning. Is required to remove snow and salt walkways; clean sidewalks, and yards.
Assignments may include areas on campus that require a higher degree of care, cleanliness, and disinfection such as: laboratories, health center or dining facilities.
- Successful Applicant must have good communication skills including written communications, have a strong work ethic and be able work productively as a member of a team.
Minimum Qualifications for the position are:
Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
