The engineer may perform or support requirements specification, digital design, simulation, design validation, system integration testing, and production support of digital circuits and systems. Developing and designing solutions to resolve and address security gaps across the enterprise, or provide reviews of proposed solutions.
- Analyzing requirements of network security operations center team and developing solutions to ensure more effective monitoring and alerting capabilities are achieved.
Security+ and at least one active vendor-certified firewall and/or security certification
Active technical certifications (i.e. CISCO,Tipping Point, SOURCE FIRE) or experience with network security control systems. For example: firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion detection, wireless, proxy server, VPN, TACACS, RADIUS, ACLs, IPSEC, 802.1x, audits, log files, etc
Strong understanding of Cisco switches/routers and principle LAN/WAN technologies (Ethernet, IP routing, Multicast, DHCP, etc.)
Strong understanding of Domain Name Server (DNS) including A records and C records, Network Time Protocol (NTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers
- Expert knowledge of secure remote connectivity solutions
Network engineering industry certification (Network+, CCNA, or CCNP)
Security certifications (CISSP, GSEC etc.)
Expert knowledge of IP routing
Expert knowledge of Security aspects of ports, protocols, and services (PPS)
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences, as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis. Education: Bachelors Degree in a related business or technical discipline - OR - the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
