Label and package product using various labeling/packaging equipment

A123 is seeking a motivated scientist/engineer to oversee the global electrolyte R&D team for both high power and high energy lithium-ion battery applications. This individual should have expertise in electrolyte formula design, optimization, and evaluation of advanced electrolytes and additives for these applications. Additionally, the candidate must display the ability to effectively lead, mentor, utilize a diverse scientific staff ranging from PhD scientists to skilled technicians. The position will involve close collaboration with other R&D departments located in Waltham, MA, Romulus, MI, and Hangzhou, China as well as Cell development located in Global locations. Primary job responsibilities include managing the global electrolyte team, generating new ideas and approaches for novel additive design & synthesis, and development of improved electrolyte compositions in accordance with A123's technology and cell development roadmaps. The desired candidate is expected to have industrial experience in electrolyte formulation development as well as a strong fundamental background the field of electrochemical energy storage and lithium ion batteries. Responsible for handling customerparts throughout the production process.This would include using cranes,forklifts and carts to load/unload cubicles and to transfer parts to and from the various work areas
Performs aspectsof post coating finishing involving but not limited to brushing techniques on screws, blades,disperser rolls,shrouds etc.
Recognizes faulty operationof equipment by sight and sound, makes minor repairs and adjustments , performs routine preventive maintenanceand cleans equipment as required (IE: grit Blasting, stripping, and brush finishing equipment)
Performs a variety of tasks in shippingand receiving. These include but are not limited to: unloading and unpacking parts and materials, verifying counts and inspecting items for damage,adequately packing partsand loading for shipment
Maintains a clean and orderly work area and practices good generalhousekeeping at all times
Other duties as assigned
High School degree or GED is required
2 years' experience working in a production/manufacturing and/or plant environment preferred
Ability to complete training in the use of cranes and forklifts for moving customer parts and fixtures as well as formal training and certification in electrolytic stripping
Ability to work from written instructions
Strong focus on quality with the ability to multi-task
Must be able to work overtime and the shift outlined in the posting

Electroplating Technologist (Early/Mid-Career)
What Your Job Will Be Like
The Materials Chemistry Department is seeking a R&D Laboratory Technologist to join our electroplating and surface finishing laboratory team which supports our national security programs. You will serve as a contact for technical expertise input into design modification and optimization, material selection, planning, and monitoring of electroplating and surface finishing processes.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Collaborate with other engineers and scientists to ensure the product and system requirements are taken into account and implemented from product conception to final results;
Provide support to production, purchasing of material and chemicals, and analytical operations;
Maintain safe and effective daily operations, manage tactical day-to-day technical issues and resolve problems expeditiously;
Liaison with research and development organizations and staff to ensure the success of Sandia programs.
Perform electrochemical experiments in support of R&D staff
Support the chemistry and analytical labs as needed
Selected applicant will be required to pass a Job Placement Assessment before beginning the job to ensure that they can perform the essential physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
Qualifications We Require
You have an associate's degree in a STEM discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience
You have experience in surface finishes and electrochemistry, including cleaning, anodization, electroless and electrolytic processes;
You are knowledgeable about process controls and characterization;
You have the ability to scale up processes;
You have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.
