The Equipment Maintenance Technician (Etch) is responsible for the maintenance systems and overall tool performance on assigned equipment in a fast paced manufacturing environment. They support wafer fab production by meeting and exceeding tool availability and quality objectives.
- This position is D shift; a back half, night shift position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Engineering team with managing maintenance activities to provide optimum manufacturing support on area equipment
Provide effective project management for tool installations and qualification

Drive hard down and atypical tool recovery efforts
Drive continuous improvements in tool performance, safety, quality, and cost control

5240 develops and maintains core semiconductor processing capabilities that enable our customers to build differentiating Microsystems products. Two unique facilities are co-located within the 64,900 square foot MESAfab complex including: (1) a 11,900 square foot Class 1 Silicon Fab for 6-inch silicon wafer processing and (2) a 14,900 square foot Class 10/Class 100 MicroFab for compound semiconductor processing and silicon wafer post-processing.

This position is for an engineering technician role in the 300mm wafer R&D microchip fabricator. As a VCSEL Development Engineer inthe R&D group, you will help bring next generation VCSELs from concept toproduction. Your work will span device design, mask layout, processflow development, characterization and tester development, DC test dataanalysis and pulsed measurements. Device and Epitaxial design to meet VCSEL performance requirements
Modeling Epitaxial VCSEL structures including optical, electrical and thermal components vs. composition, doping and structure
Mask layout and VCSEL process oversight (lithography, wet etching, plasma etching, metal and dielectric deposition systems, implantation, and oxidation)
Coordinating experiments and testing at wafer and device level and analyzing the resulting data to validate the modeling and driving design improvement
Manage tasks\ through the various development phases (concept, demonstration, development, qualification, production) to meet program milestones
5 years of experience with high-power and/or high-speed VCSEL development
Knowledge of VCSEL epitaxial structure design, modeling and growth
In depth knowledge of semiconductor processes (lithography, wet/dry etch, oxidation, implantation, dielectric/metal deposition)
Hands-on experience with test and characterization of semiconductor laser diodes which could include LIV parameters, near-field and/or far-field beam characteristics, in continuous and pulsed operation
Proficient in data analysis with tools like Excel, JMP, Minitab, Matlab, Python
Familiarity with conception, planning, design, and qualification phases of development projects
Strong verbal, organizational, written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams

The Research and Development Engineer will provide technical support in the research and development of new semiconductor optoelectronics products. The candidate will be working with a group of RD engineers and technicians in device design, growth, fabrication, and evaluation. The primary responsibility for this position is InP or GaAs based compound semiconductor wafer processing and device fabrication in cleanroom fab for developing new laser and photodetector products.
Perform new laser and photodetector products device fabrication
Responsibilities include the development, evaluation, and transfer of various processes for the manufacturing of new semiconductor optoelectronics devices, such as lasers and photodetectors.
Work requires knowledge and hands-on experience on semiconductor wafer processing, such as photo mask design, photo lithography, wet/dry etching, chemical vapor deposition, and metallization.
Work also require characterization skills such as using confocal microscope, surface profiler, ellipsometry, and SEM
Work also requires statistical process control, data analysis and technical reports, and SOP documentation.
Work also involves interaction with production line technicians and engineers in a cleanroom environment that requires team work and good communication
Master or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Material Science; or BS with 3+ years experience
3+ years of relevant hands-on experience is preferred
Exceptional new graduates are acceptable with appropriate academic experience
(1) Mastery of LabVIEW; L-Edit or other mask layout software
