Lubricates, adds coolant and cleans equipment.

Makes personal contacts with dealer and branch personnel to finalize arrangements for tests.
Performs setup on machine for test, including assembly, adjusting, fueling and lubrication.
Operates equipment under field test conditions.

Work is widely diversified without established procedures. Duties may involve:
Engineering theory and design
Work from Pro-E models, VisView models, blueprints and verbal instructions
Assist install builds in various stages on both gaseous fuel and diesel type engines
Fitting for cooling, air, hydraulic connections, and wiring harnesses for adaptation of the test device to the test machine
Installing necessary test leads, thermocouples, cylinder pressure pick-up gauges, and instrumented test components as required performing the test
Perform adjustments on valve train, gear train, fuel system, cooling system, and oil system
Assembly of entire unit of a new design or the buildup of subassemblies
Aid in the fabrication of intake and exhaust piping, instrumented fuel and cooling lines, and modified wiring harnesses
Incorporating improvements and developments in present production models
Evaluate and determine reusability of engine hardware during engine builds
Uses various precision gauging tools to check accuracy of assembly and fitting operations.
Plans method and sequence of assembly
Install and remove engines from a testing cell
Uses all common mechanic's hand tools, portable power tools, power presses, simple machines tools, and powered crane to assemble parts into complete unit, making alterations and hand fitting parts when necessary
Makes suggestions concerning methods of overcoming difficulties encountered in assembly/disassembly and reasons for parts failure
Initiate possible changes in design to correct failure, and any other pertinent criticisms or data gained while performing assembly/disassembly or dismantling or construction
- Minimum 3-5 years full time working experience in diesel engine service and repair industry or 2 year technical degree within the disciples of diesel power technology, Industrial Engine Power Technology or Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology

Installs, tests, troubleshoots, reworks and modifies components on complete aircraft to meet required specifications. Repairs and maintains operating aircraft including any task from build to delivery. Job Summary The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invites applications for a faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates must have a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and strong potential to develop an externally funded research program. Candidates for the position at the associate professor level must have records of scholarly and professional achievements. Applications will be considered in the general area of experimental fluid mechanics with applications to environmental flows. Domains of interest include, but are not limited to, wind engineering, wind energy, urban flows, and natural hazards. Preference will be given to an experimentalist that can support and advance research efforts in model validation and uncertainty quantification for the analysis, design and control of engineered systems involving complex fluid flows. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is among the fastest growing programs at UTD. The department offers ABET-accredited BS, as well as MS and PhD degree programs in mechanical engineering. The department was founded in 2008 and currently has 1185 students enrolled, including 196 graduate students. There are 27 tenured-system faculty members and 7 teaching faculty members. The junior faculty are highly decorated and include three NSF CAREER awardees, five Young Investigator Program awardees from DoD, and one awardee of the NIH Director’s Program. In 2018, the department will be housed in a brand new building with 200,000 square feet for teaching and research. The research conducted by graduate students and faculty is focused on problems of global significance with regional impact in medicine, energy, and nanotechnology. The department is home to an NSF Industry/ University Cooperative Research Center in Wind Energy. An atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel has been completed with unique characteristics, such as test section with 30-m length, 2.8-m width, 2.1 m height, and maximum velocity of 34 m/s. Several measurements systems are already available, such as stereo PIV, hot-wire anemometry, multi-hole pressure probes, and force balances. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Establish and
/or continue a collaborative line of research in Mechanical Engineering, contribute to the cooperative atmosphere among the faculty, and secure extramural grants to support these endeavors. Prepare and teach courses for a diverse student population in the classroom, the laboratory, and/or on-line.
Contribute assessment and data as requested through the administrative teams working with assessment and accreditation. Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on research and teaching constraints. Posting Number: F00152P
