Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, the A&E Mechanic acts in a lead position engaged in the maintenance and repair of electrical, electronic and automated equipment and systems at Natural Gas Compressor Stations and pipeline facilities.
- This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program.
Oversees, directs, and performs tasks associated with the installation, start-up, inspection and repair of automated electrical and mechanical systems and facilities. Such equipment includes: ignition systems, automated control panels, pneumatic circuits, electrical circuits, electrical generators, switches, UPS systems, data acquisition equipment, engine sequencing and speed control equipment, EM facilities, and RTU and associated field devices;
Works closely with A&E Technician and Compressor personnel. Keeps up to date with all applicable codes, regulations, policies and procedures; insures Company facilities are operated in compliance of such codes. Investigates equipment and facility failures and repairs or recommends corrective action;
Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, modifying, calibrating and replacement of control system software and components associated with equipment control, data gathering and facility operations;
Oversees contractors and performs electrical wiring tasks, installing tubing and conduit, fabrication of mounting devices and control panels, installation of ignition systems, programmable controllers, IUFM facilities, electronic measurement, RTU facilities, and UPS systems;
Participates in the installation and maintenance of Data Networks and associated equipment;
Instructs station personnel in basic operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, electronic, and automated systems;
Operates computers and modems for data entry and retrieval and analysis of collected data;
Compiles, prepares, and maintains written record related to the O&M, preventative maintenance, inspection and repair of all assigned electrical, electronic, automated systems;
Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of parts and materials for assigned equipment.
Using PC and/or hand held device, completes Work Orders, enters data into Job Plans, creates new Work Orders, etc. in SAP;
Troubleshoots Control Networks (e.g. fiber optics, Ethernet, serial interfacing between control equipment);
Will be required to work in other job functions as needed and determined by management;
Operates Company vehicle;
Other tasks as required.
Qualifications & Education
Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and be a self-starter;
Interpersonal skills required to work effectively with other personnel in a team environment to conceive, produce and maintain complex, high-tech systems;
Demonstrate basic personal computer skills and must have the ability to obtain basic skills in using a hand held computer;
Able to obtain basic skills in using SAP.
Education / Experience
Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical degree or equivalent experience preferred;
At least 5 years of combined education and experience in the field of Electrical\Electronic\Mechanical systems and instrumentation is preferred;
Field experience in analog circuits (4-20ma) and digital communications Cat6, fiber links, digital circuits, pneumatic controls, electronic instrumentation, and electrical control systems;
Electrician's license or Journeyman's card/certificate desired or equivalent industrial electrician experience
This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver's license;
Provide a driver's abstract for review;
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
Work overtime and be available for call-out;
Reside in an area that allows for emergency response within 30 miles or 45 minutes to comply with response requirements

Description:Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of CNC and multi-purpose electronic and/or electro-mechanical control systems for industrial and precision equipment. Tests, analyzes malfunctions, modifies, repairs, adjusts, and maintains mechanical portions of automatic control instruments and related recording devices used in the operation of industrial manufacturing equipment.
Operates machine through necessary cycles to check mechanical portion of electronic and/or electro-mechanical systems and detects any variations from specifications. Analyzes results of the tests to locate and determine the cause of the malfunction.
Modifies and adjusts settings to related equipment in order to properly align mechanical systems. Repairs faulty components, re-tests system or systems as necessary. Perform incidental welding in conjunction with the normal maintenance activities.

Experimental Aeromechanic Wind Tunnel Technician Spec
Description:Experimental Aeromechanics technicians support the fabrication, assembly, calibration, and test of rotorcraft scale models, and the fabrication, static testing and environmental conditioning of composite test articles. Specific responsibilities will include: Support all activities in the Model Test Hover area as well as Wind tunnel support for model testing and support as required for all composite material fabrication and test article machining requirements in the Aeromechanics/Engineering Development Center. Working as a senior technician with composite component fabrication, static test operations, environmental conditioning requirements, and model rotor test assembly and operations. Support manual and CNC machining of composites and metals. Support of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and instrumentation assembly, check-out, and calibration, during model test operations at the Stratford Plant and other offsite test facilities, as the test needs require. EH&S and metrology tasks will be required.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with helicopter basic operation, demonstrate a willingness to learn and work under the leadership of principal investigators and engineers. Daily work activities will take place in multiple areas of Experimental Aeromechanics as work load dictates.
Ideally the candidate will provide support to Engineering Work Request (EWR) requirements and programs under the direction of the Material and Processes Engineering Group with a high level of self-direction and competency.
Specific skills relative to position include but not limited to:-Composite material processing and fabrication
Dressing materials to the designated sizes, with support for static testing
to define the material properties for Engineering.

preparation and planning.

Knowledge of composite materials and processes required to perform surface grinding and milling operations with various materials including Kevlar, fiberglass, graphite, aluminum and steel.

An Electrical Mechanic performs skilled mechanical and electrical work in the installation and maintenance of high and low voltage electrical circuits and related equipment at electrical stations and plants such as electrical substations; receiving, distributing, and customer stations; steam generating stations; water pumping and chlorinating stations; converter stations; hydro-electric plants; high voltage switching stations; and similar facilities and buildings; and performs other related duties.
Electrical Mechanics may work at heights of up to 280 feet, near hazardous materials, and in confined spaces.

Appointments from the eligible list are normally made to entry-level positions. Applicants filing under Requirement #2 may be considered for appointment to a regular (journey-level) Electrical Mechanic position. However, they must have completed an IBEW inside wireman apprenticeship program and may be required to successfully pass written and/or performance tests. Proof of completion of the recognized apprenticeship program must be submitted to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power at the time of appointment.
An Electrical Mechanic must be designated as an Authorized Person, which permits one to hold Work Authorities, prior to completion of probation as a journey-level Electrical Mechanic.
Applicants filing under Requirement #6 and/or Requirement #7 must submit a copy of their certificate of completion at the time of filing. A copy of the applicable certificate must be attached to the online application BEFORE the application is submitted. Examination Weight: Written Test
The examination will consist of a qualifying written test and performance test. In the qualifying written test, which will consist of multiple-choice questions, candidates may be examined for knowledge of scales and units of measurement used in electric stations; hand and power tools; arithmetic and algebra; the ability to read scales, dials, and digital readouts; visualize effects of forces upon a given load (mechanical comprehension); using street maps; oral/written communication; and other necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Passing Score for Qualifying Written Test
The passing score for the qualifying written test will be determined by Personnel Department staff after the qualifying written test is administered. Consideration will be given to the number of candidates taking the test and the existing and anticipated number of vacancies, such that there are a sufficient number of eligibles on the list to satisfy current and future vacancies for the next two years. Therefore, the passing score for the qualifying multiple-choice written test may be set either above or below 70%.
The first written test will be administered in a single half-day session on SATURDAY, APRIL 7, 2018 in Los Angeles. Candidates will be notified later by e-mail of the time and location of the written test. Additional test dates may be added as needed.
Candidates must achieve a passing score on the qualifying multiple-choice test in order to be scheduled for the performance test. The examination score will be based entirely on the performance test. The Performance Test will consist of a series of exercises in which candidates may be examined for: knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted; physical agility sufficient to climb, balance, and/or reach in confined spaces; manual dexterity; ability to measure materials accurately; ability to perform tasks using color-identified materials; the ability to follow written instructions; and other necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.
This examination is based on a validation study and as provided by Civil Service Commission Rule 4.20, the written test will not be subject to candidate review.
Based on City policy, before being hired in this position, you may be required to undergo a drug and alcohol-screening test.

Maintenance Mechanics perform a variety of activities to maintain plant equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition.
These activities include but are not limited to:
Following all safety rules and practices
Performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels
Performing emergency/break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations
Accurately using measurement and test equipment
Performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed
Maintain clean and organized work area, and cleaning up work area as part of completing assigned tasks
Accurately and completely preparing and maintaining maintenance records and other paperwork
Trouble-shooting and solving problems
Maintaining teamwork with other associates
Performing other duties as assigned by supervision
Individual must possess the following qualifications:
Requires strong electrical and mechnical skills and aptitude
Strong troubleshooting skills
Written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work well as part of a team
Preferred skills in pneumatics, electrical, PLC and hydraulics
High School Diploma or GED required
Post High School training preferred
Ability to read, write and speak English
Ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices
Well rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience
Ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team
Corrugated Industry Maintenance experience preferred
Must be willing to work OT including Saturdays and Sundays as needed

In this role, you will:
Make simple jigs and fixtures from part prints
Operate a variety of machine tools with a high degree of skill
Perform setup and operation of CNC machines: lathe, O.D. and I.D grinder, manual grinder and mill
Ability to use basic gauges, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, ID mics, etc.
Perform setup and operation of CNC machines: lathe, grinder, and mill
Apply advanced knowledge of mechanisms and machine operations
Make parts from blueprints to close tolerances
