ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for operating and troubleshooting all material blending systems.
Responsible for cleaning all material system filters, socks and canisters.

Extruder Operator Or Trainee 2Nd Or 3Rd Shift MZ
The extruder operator is responsible for set up and efficient machine operation in our extrusion process in order to produce quality roll goods in desired quantities. Pay rate is $16.07 with $1 differential for second or third shift for a total of $17.07 per hour. This opening is for our Mazomanie, WI plant. The schedule for third shift is 10pm-6am Sunday through Thursday. The schedule for second shift is 2pm to 10pm Mon-Fri.
Completes machine start-up, making needed adjustments for temperature and die opening, and monitors finished product to be certain quality is acceptable.
Periodically checks product and various machining gauges, making necessary adjustments as required to be sure color, dimensions and uniformity are acceptable.
When necessary, changes rolls of finished product, weighs roll and records net weight on roll and production record, puts finished roll on skid and bands finished skid together.
Makes changeovers when going from one product run to another.
This may require changing dies, polish rolls or setting up dryer for hydroscopic materials.
May at times operate grinder to prepare scrap for re-use.
Uses care and caution in the operation of all machines to allow for safety of self as well as other operators and helpers.
Reports any machine problems that can not readily be repaired to Extrusion Manager for assistance.
Operates forklift for moving materials and equipment (forklift license required--training provided).
Directs operator helper in obtaining needed materials before and during runs and before changing over.
Reads and understands operators manual and updates individual manual with operating conditions as well as repair information.
Keeps machinery and work area neat and clean and completes required machine lubrication.
Notifies Extrusion Manager of any machine problems and may assist in their resolution.
Notifies general manager of low inventories of materials, packaging materials and repair parts.
Assists operator trainee in receiving necessary information and skills to become an operator--This will require times when trainee will be allowed to take over operation under operators supervision.
The Extruder Operator must perform a skilled level of work in the application of a compounded rubber stock that is applied to a customer roll through the extrusion process. Assignments are received in the form of written instructions through the schedule board and the plant factory order. Work methods and procedures are determined by company policy thru the SPI manual. On the job training will be provided that meets these specification and requirements and the employee is expected to maintain these standards after completion of training period.

About the Position: This announcement may be used to fill two (2) vacancies for a Master Tender (Dual Rate), XH-5784-08, in the Maintenance Section; on the Illinois Waterway Project, located in Peoria, Illinois, and on the Mississippi River Project, located in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
This position is dual rated to the position of Master, Towboat, XH-5784-12. If qualified and possess appropriate U.S. Coast Guard License/Certification, during the absence of the Towboat Master you may be assigned to perform the duties of Towboat and Tender Master in a dual rated capacity.

Operate and oversee the operation of a single or twin-screw pusher-type towboat.
Support combined land and floating plant units engaged mainly in the maintenance and repair of lock and dam structures.
Tow barges and other floating plants up to and including 1500 tons on both short and long range tows, shift/move/spot plants on location, and transport personnel/supplies/equipment.
Pilot the boat and controls the operation of engines by means of pilot house controls.
Exercise care for the safe operation of the boat and have working knowledge of the river, navigation aids, and currents in order to successfully pilot boat, either light or with tow, by day or night.
Oversee and direct subordinate personnel in their operations and activities. Make assignments, resolve problems, and train personnel to maintain a safe and efficient organization.
Maintain boat and engines in operating condition. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the equipment operated.
This is dual rated to the position of Master, Towboat, XH-5784-12. If qualified, during the absence of the Towboat Master you may be assigned to perform the duties of Towboat and Tender Master in a dual rated capacity.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A pre-appointment physical examination is required.
This position requires annual physicals.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
Must possess a Master of Towing Vessels upon Western River Merchant Mariners License and maintain the license.
Position requires employees to wear and use protective clothing and equipment.
Normally stand a regular 10-hour watch but are on call at all times.
When serving aboard towboats, may be required to quarter and subsist aboard the vessels when other lodging and food facilities are not readily or conveniently available.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Master Tender (Dual Rate)~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience and/or show the ability to; operate a towboat to maneuver floating plant on short and long range tows to move and position plant units engaged in maintenance and repair activities and assist in making repairs to machinery and equipment.

Physical Effort: You will exert continual effort in pushing, pulling, and depressing the various levers and controls required for boat operation and be subject to strain caused by vibrations plus the jerking and jolting motions of the vessel. Occasionally, you may be required to lift and carry items or material weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Boat operation is normally within the confines of a pilot house which protects you from the elements and can be heated. However, you will be exposed to all weather conditions, traffic hazards, unpleasant heat, fumes, noise, and injuries associated with boat operating and decking, working around heavy equipment, etc., such as equipment overturn, falling into hazardous water, etc., for which prescribed safety gear and practices such as hard hat, life preserves, etc., are required.
