Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all operations that occur during the assigned shift. These duties include following the production schedule and making sure all supplies needed for production runs are available.

Startup and operate the vacuum loading system including the vacuum control panel.
Knowledgeable in the operation, function, and cleaning requirements of the dust control system.

Perform a cold start of the extruder
Properly shut down the extruder
Make the proper die bolt adjustments
Perform a screen change when required
Shim the extrusion die for the proper sheet width
Measure and set up the roll gap of the extrusion system

Perform a material change on the extruder.

Should be able to trouble shoot maintenance issues with the extruder with minimal maintenance assistance
Knowledge of how to extrude PET, CPET, PLA, and Polypropylene material
Startup the thermoformer
Shut down the thermoformer
Calculate and adjust for the proper line speed
Adjust and set the proper heat profile for the material and product that is to be run on any Thermoformer
Recall a recipe for production run
Startup the trimpress
Shut down the trimpress
Make proper feed adjustment changes
Make canopy adjustments on the trimpress
Operate the under press grinder
Operate the sheet grinder
Clean out the under press grinder
Ability to use SAP for the following functions – operator activity reporting, resin issue, box inventory lookup, finished goods confirmation, and production work order release.
Check moisture content on PET material using moisture analyzer
Make sure product that is produced meets or exceeds minimum standards for quality packaged finished goods
Must be able to use part ID measurement tools and record quality information from those checks
Correct any quality problems immediately when notified by packers
Perform quality checks, such as part weight, proper form, lid fit, sheet thickness, water leak test, and CPET oven test, on production at specified intervals and record results on proper paperwork.
Must abide by all food safety regulations such as Good Manufacturing Practices and sliver control procedures
Must be able to track quality results using SPC methods as trained
Ability to read the production schedule, look up box locations in SAP, and check box inventory for box labeling requirements
Able to maintain and explain visual boards on the line
- Prior Extrusion and/or Thermoforming experience

The Operator is responsible for the direct supervision of assigned Custom Films production lines. Must know blown film basics, troubleshooting, extruder drives, heaters and controls. Operators know how to start up and shutdown production lines. He is responsible for packer compliance with established safety, quality, quantity, housekeeping and disciplinary standards.
Review production orders and begins process of starting line up or keeping lines in production.
Responsible for all processes, equipment and packers on assigned lines.
Must meet production, quality and quantity standards. Train packers on all procedures associated with ISO and it's guidelines.
Assures proper set-ups and quality checks. Organizes work for smooth operations.
Organizes and completes tally sheets, documentation on work orders and paperwork for completion on quantities.
Assists in training packers on how to do quality checks, gauge, length, width and weight and does follow-up on production to make sure product is being produced to specifications and documents paperwork.
Trains the packers on how to drop the rope and thread up the post gussets and bag machines. Make necessary adjustments and settings to equipment so product is in compliance to work order.
Can operate all aspects involved in a start-up, process control blending system, recalibration and control panel, printing press and bag separator and can take a line down properly. Must be able to troubleshoot the majority of problems on extrusion, bag machines and winders. Adheres to PPE guidelines when putting up a bubble and changing screens. Advises packers of order changes to ensure proper materials are ready for the new order.
Run the lines efficiently so scrap is at a minimum. Assists other packers and Operators when their lines go down or there is a manufacturing problem. Moves equipment in and out of manufacturing area for production changeovers with a pallet jack or forklift. Routinely feeds the Automatic Scrap Recovery system to limit the amount of scrap. Gives packers relief on lines for breaks and lunch periods. Replaces broken or worn out hand equipment and makes sure the packers have all of their PPE available and in use. Must be willing to work twelve-hour shifts and overtime when needed.
Must have good math skills. Able to add, subtract, divide, multiply decimals and weight grams.
Able to read; must be able to read English text, blueprints. Write, speak and understand English directions/instructions.
Writing skills required: Must be able to communicate in writing with all levels of organization in English.
Able to work overtime on any shift on short notice.
