The extrusion operator performs all the tasks associated with operating the bulk roll films extruder following the standard operating procedures. You will work a 12-hour shift from 6:45 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. on a 3-1-3 schedule (night shift).
This posting is for the Engineered Films Plants Concord facility and is subject to shift alignment. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply, with those currently in the Concord Engineered Films Plant receiving first consideration.
Activities and duties may vary dependent upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Operate and maintain all processing and material handling equipment within the film extrusion process.
Follow process procedures or instructions from line operators and team leaders.
Monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production specifications.
Set up machines requiring high level of precision and the interaction of multiple variables.
Load raw materials, determine and manage machine controls and unload finished product.
Perform routine tests and check product for multiple characteristics using standard measuring devices, including calibrated measuring tapes.
Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Surface any malfunctions or abnormalities of equipment.
Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
Jobs may be of short, medium or long duration requiring frequent change in set up and variation in cycle. Adjusts set up and process operations accordingly.
Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste or rework in the process.

Job Description Summary:
This position is tasked with the efficient and safe operation of different types of specialized extrusion equipment. This position is required to maintain accurate and legible production reports. Extrusion operators are responsible for machine set ups, changeovers, selecting dies and changing dies up to 10 per day. They are responsible for all quality related aspects of our internal and industry (UL, NSF) specifications prior to shipping or being ran through any secondary processes. Lack of attention to detail in this area could result in significant amount of product scrap, impacting quality yield, delivery and cost. Operators will handle basic troubleshooting of the various extruders and auxiliary equipment, conduct daily preventative maintenance checks, and elevate any issues to the Area Lead if they are not able to address it themselves. Safely operate forklift equipment to move pallets of product to proper location. Operators are expected to be active in our Continuous Improvement program to help make the business more successful.
Shift: C Shift (nights) 4 days on
- 4 days off, 6pm-6am
Safely operate computer-controlled equipment according to procedures, major processes include: perform die (tool) changes, changeovers, in-process checks and adjustments
As reels fill to capacity, perform necessary reel changes per written procedures
To verify product quality, accurately uses precision measuring devices to monitor pipe dimensions
Accurately and legibly record all required data on production report (hardcopy or electronic)
Maintain work area to company 6S standards by keeping all tools and equipment in designated areas; perform operator Preventative Maintenance on equipment
Collect and submit Quality samples as required

Will operate an extrusion line in a safe and orderly manner at Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) to manufacture a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate equipment to produce finished goods to production specifications.
Set Machine up to SOC using the appropriate conditions found in SAP
Use the Human Machine Interface(HMI) to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC to safely make a quality product
Perform Rate adjustments with in SOC allowances.
Understand Blender Operation, and perform Cleaning, Adjustments, and Changeover
Perform Line start up and Line shut down
Understand and safely operate extruders
Winder and extrusion line threading with rope or film

Ability to use SAP to fulfill job functions

Technician, Plastic Extrusion - Transcatheter Heart Valve
The Technician role is an exciting opportunity within the Transcatheter Heart Valve Extrusions Manufacturing department. This role will perform a variety of extrusion manufacturing support tasks, including manufacture of extruded tubing components and participation in engineering development projects.
Responsibilities include, though are not limited to: performing tasks associated with product development, training of machine operators, product transfers between facilities, and on-going process optimizations. This position will serve as a manufacturing Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the extrusions process and may act as a manufacturing conduit between R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and other key cross-functional partners to acquire new or improved processes/designs into production.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Act as a higher level SME - Assess all extrusions operations and provide feedback and suggestions to engineering on new designs and on existing methodologies/work routines.
Interact with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to assess product defects and model specific support for MRB.
Conduct critical documentation reviews of part drawings and manufacturing SOPs to facilitate development of assembly processes.

Evaluate revisions and tooling for new procedures with Engineering, including providing feedback on the feasibility of designs and process steps.
