Must complete all mobile equipment inspection sheets before starting shift:
HS5.8 w17A - fixed rail overhead hoist
HS5.8 w18A - overhead mono-rail
Fill out appropriate mule operation checklist
Obtain JDE Press Work Order from the press operator.
Trim off stretch scrap.
Cut material to the proper length to satisfy requirements.
Cut excess for scrap. Inspect material for defects.
Weigh one stock length per die run writing the weight on the Press Work Order.
Stack metal on the pallet ensuring method of stacking is not causing damage.
Perform dimensional inspections on extrusions.
Record quantity on order ticket.
Attach copy to pallet.
Report production into JDE/KPMS system.
The employee is required to follow all Health & Safety requirements listed in the applicable procedure & work instructions

Americhem has 3 Extruder Operator I positionsavailable on 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts.
Extruder Operator I is responsible forprocessing products from non-complex color compounds in a safe and efficientmanner, according to specifications and procedures. Responsibilitiesalso include setting up, operating, and tending extruding machines used inprocessing products. The incumbent is expected to perform the job dutiesunder the direction of the team leader or Level 3 co-workers There are openingon 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.
Holdssafety in highest regard by making good safety decisions, following safetyprocedures, watching out for the safety of self and others, contributing tosafety improvements and participating in safety programs.
Appliessafety precautions by transporting materials, tools, and equipment withoutincident to work and storage areas using hoists, carts, dollies or otherequipment.
Startsthe work process by checking the work assignment board for the campaign numberto verify proper product identification and then pulling the work binder andlabor sheet with specifications.
Prepareswork area for compound production by retrieving color mix, selecting thecorrect die, screw, and cutting blade.
Workswith the team leader or a Level 3 co-worker to determine machine setup byreviewing and following product specifications noted on the labor sheet(s).
Setsup or changes over extruder by setting feed rate and temperature, enteringspecification onto the extruder screen, attaching the correct die, andattaching the correct blade to the pelletizer.
Setsup extruder screen by entering specification number, campaign number, andsetting water temperature for the Gala.
Completeswork order specifications by installing, replacing, and changing machine partsand attachments.
Addsthe color mix to the feeder by using a tow motor to lift the color pot up tothe platform, and setting it in the proper slot.
Producescompound samples according to specifications by using production equipment,devices and instruments (i.e. extruders, scales, feeders, classifiers,pelletizers, dies, dials, calibrators).
Createspellets, under the guidance of the team leader or Level 3 co-worker, by runningthe compound through the extruder to the pelletizer, through the Gala orcooling trough, through the sizing screens, and into a shipping container.
Checksthe quality of pellets, under the guidance of the team leader or Level 3co-worker, by pressing a sample to ensure there is no 'salt/pepper'(light/dark) mix.
Reprocessespellets that do not meet color specifications (i.e. mix of light and dark pellets)by placing pellets into the tumbler to remix and re-rerun through the injectionmolder/extruder machine.
Preparesproduct container for shipping by retrieving the correct type/size container(e.g. drums or totes) and printing the barcoded shipping label.
Changesmachine settings throughout the process, with the guidance of the team leaderor Level 3 co-worker, by adjusting functional parts of devices and controlinstruments using various types of settings and tools to assure productquality; recording changes on the labor sheet.
Monitorsthe production process by troubleshooting problems or operation errors on theline that affects product quality and reports issues to the team leader orLevel 3 co-worker.
Makesadjustments and troubleshoots production errors (e.g. feed speed) by applyingmathematical calculations.
Completesprocess by updating the labor sheet with the final specifications, adding thespecification sheet to the work binder, updating the work board, and finalizingthe packaging by adding the shipping label to the container, and placing thecontainer in the shipping area.
Preparesreport of product production by collecting and summarizing information andtrends on the production checklist.
Documentsprocessing specifications and labor hours, by entering information ontocomputer screens, in reports, forms and/or logs.
Finishesthe production process by using a tow motor to move completed material toshipping, updating the work board with the project status, and returning thework binder to its proper place on the self.
Keepsmachinery and mechanical equipment operational by performing preventivemaintenance (i.e. check, clean, lubricate, adjustments/repairs) tasks onmachines and equipment (i.e. extruder, mixer, feeders, pelletizers) with theguidance of the team leader or a Level 3 co-worker.
Conveysequipment problems to the team leader or Level 3 co-worker by documenting andsharing machine error messages or information obtained from visual inspections.
Investigatessources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening forproblems, using precision measuring, and testing instruments, and notifying theteam leader or Level 3 co-worker of potential problems.
Cleansand prepares extruder and die for processing new batches by tearing downmachines, using hand tools and cleaning solution or other equipment to removethe color compound from the extruder and its parts.
Recordsmachine performance of produced material by maintaining written documentationor logs of calibrations and speeds.
Identifiesmachine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance by conveying the need tothe team leader and maintenance.
