Assists in setting up and operating thermoplastic extruders and associated production equipment to convert plastic resins into blown film for flexible plastic sheeting, tubing or bags. Performs manufacturing operations which will result in efficiently producing a flexible product on a timely basis that meets all the customer's product specifications.

Reviews Production Order Form specifications to insure the correct equipment, packaging supplies and raw materials are available to produce a product that meets the customer's specifications.
Assists in performing equipment production setup under the direction of the Lead Operator or his designee. Set ups may include but are not limited to the following production equipment:
Sets up and controls extruder, die and tower to set film dimension and thickness.
Sets up and controls treater stations to prepare film surface.
Sets up and controls in-line bag machines to set film dimensions and characteristics.
Sets up and controls winders to set film dimensions and characteristics.
Sets up and controls post gusseter to set film dimensions.
Sets up and controls folder to set film dimensions.
Sets up and controls in-line press to set printed film.
Sets up and controls separator to separate film.
Periodically observes and checks finished film coming off the production lines and if detects sub standard product takes immediate corrective action to eliminate any causes of sub-standard product.
Under direction of the Lead Operator may train team members in correct operating procedures, safety and quality policy procedures.
Monitors production equipment to insure equipment is operating properly and under supervision of the Lead Operator performs routine maintenance on equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
To perform this job successfully, an individual is expected to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Learn to operate two extruders, processing raw material into rolled sheet.
Learn to make process and machine adjustments that produce quality rolled sheet
Use simple measurement instruments to verify quality specification are being met during the process
Use machine readings to verify quality specification are being met during the process
Accurately complete daily production documentation.
Clean and inspect machine as needed at each roll change.
Operate and make minor process adjustments to ensure product quality and process stability. Notify Supervisor or Extrusion Lead of the need for more complex machine adjustments.
Perform Operator level preventive maintenance (PM).
Perform process PM (i.e., clean chromed rollers, clean die lip, change screens, etc.)
Effectively communicate with crew members sharing information to ensure team is working toward production goals.
Help install dies, mandrels, containers, heating coils, press tools, extrusion heads, and runout bridging in press using hand tools.
Identify and report basic equipment issues to the Maintenance Department in accordance to current policies.
Accurately complete daily production line documentation.
Help with machine repairs as needed.
Tape and position roll stands as needed.
Accurately print and apply product labels.
Fill in for other extrusion employees, for relief periods.
Support Pactiv's Good Manufacturing Program (GMP).
Work safely and help keep work area clean and free from product contamination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This department is responsible for extruding aluminum. Aluminum extrusion is the process of shaping the metal by forcing it to flow through a shaped opening in a die. The result is an elongated piece of aluminum with the same shape as the die opening. It is used in glass framing for a multitude of applications
This position is responsible for putting cut metal in racks or containers, assisting the saw operator and visually inspecting the product for quality flaws

Extruder Operator I is responsible forprocessing products from non-complex color compounds in a safe and efficientmanner, according to specifications and procedures. Addsthe color mix to the feeder by using a tow motor to lift the color pot up tothe platform, and setting it in the proper slot.
Producescompound samples according to specifications by using production equipment,devices and instruments (i.e. extruders, scales, feeders, classifiers,pelletizers, dies, dials, calibrators).
Createspellets, under the guidance of the team leader or Level 3 co-worker, by runningthe compound through the extruder to the pelletizer, through the Gala orcooling trough, through the sizing screens, and into a shipping container.

When an operator is in creel the other operator needs to be at controls in creel section unless multiple ends are out on various tricots. When this occurs the supervisor or lead person will have someone to assist at the controls.
No operator needs to be under the eye board when machine is running at full speed. Can only be under the eye board when running in creep or slow mode.
No reaching over the chains in the beaming area.
Use UHMW stick to smooth and straighten out ends coming off the tricots or running onto the loom beam while the Beamer is running.
Maintains clean and orderly work area.
Works safely and orderly.
Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to the above job duties.

Experience of sufficient length to prove competency in multi-layered blown film extrusion (experience with 5, 7 and 9 layer lines is a plus) . Results oriented.

The production operator is assigned to a specific cell or work area on a production shift. He or she is responsible for the efficient operation of the production equipment and required to perform the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Maintain operation of multiple lines, including loading gaskets and packaging end product for shipment.
Visually inspect product for quality assurance purposes.
Measure and record pipe dimensions as required. Take the proper action according to SPC Charting
Control dimensions to maintain pipe specifications with direct supervision.
Move bundled pipe from work area (scrap and good product).
Assist in production line start-up activities and changeovers.
Follow all operational and safety procedures.
Cut and band scrap as directed.
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area per established housekeeping standards.
Understand Belling Operations.
Report any equipment malfunctions, product defects or unsafe conditions immediately.
Read and Understand SOP's contained in Operator Manual
Relieve and assist other operators as needed.
Work as a team with other personnel.
Other duties as required
Follows all SAFETY rules per orientation.
Possess the skill and ability to purge a line down with supervision.
Proper stacking of pipe in lifts.
Perform visual inspection for quality of pipe; seek higher authority when in doubt.
Remove gaskets from scrap pipe. Pipe with gaskets will NOT be placed in the scrap cart.
Knows and can display how to get all quality readings from the pipe.
Can accurately fill out and use the Control Charts to maintain weights at or below goal
Is responsible for assisting supervisor and manufacturing personnel during changeovers.
Areas included but not limited to:
Changing tank rubbers
Putting in pull pipe
Cleaning around beller, spray tanks, vacuum tanks and the extruder
Checks print strip
Performs assigned task during start-up
Is responsible for recording vacuum on vent system and notifies supervisor or leadman on any low vacuum.
Can completely and accurately fill out operator sheets.
Is responsible for cutting any quality samples assigned by QC.
Can communicate all issues to both leadman and the supervisor.
Maintaining clean, organized work area
Is responsible for keeping gaskets loaded in beller when running gasketed product

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English. Communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work well with lathe operators, shift leaders an office personnel. Shares information with co-workers as needed.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
