1.Operate and monitor Extrusion lines insuring that all process standards are followed closely, therefore, producing a good quality product. Coordinate operator assistant work .
2.Discuss operation with off-going operator to determine the condition of the line.
3.Observe yarn style, coding, and special conditions.
4.Make a visual check of operating conditions every half hour and record data as required. Maintain operating conditions at the desired level.
5.Coordinate duties of operator assistant as required to insure proper operation and top quality yarn.
6.Keep reclaimable waste clean.
7.Insure that nip rolls, winders, or any other equipment is in good working condition.
8.Inspect each rack of yarn before releasing yarn to Beaming.
9.Change screen pack according to schedule, clean quadrant lens and target.
10. Take designated packages to lab for lab checks.
11. Perform any miscellaneous duties as required by supervision.
12. Obey all safety rules and regulations.
13. Report any accidents and/or injuries, no matter how slight, immediately to supervision.

Job OverviewThe machine operator produces product by following standard operating procedures, setting up, operating, adjusting and maintaining various production equipment. Main Responsibilities
Set up extruders, in accordance with instructions on production sheets.
Operate extruders with constant attention to metering equipment, improving run speeds, product quality, scrap removal.
Fill hoppers, attend to resin boxes and mix resin as required.
Check gauge, size and quality of the film at least once per roll.
Change rolls as required.
Fill out necessary paperwork as instructed by management.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Operate all equipment with special care to avoid damage, and report any equipment problems to management immediately.
Train new employees to the best of their knowledge.

Move and control reels of garden hose weighing up to 1200 pounds. Body strength and stamina must be sufficient to perform these duties 50 times per shift.
Remove tooling and properly reassemble using basic hand tools. Basic motor skills are required to perform the necessary mechanical aspects of this job in an efficient manner.
Tolerate summer heat of 15 degrees above outside temperatures.
Body agility to enable bending, stooping and lifting hose, tools and other items needed to perform the job. Body strength and stamina must be sufficient to perform these duties 25 times per shift.

Extrusion Operator - Primary - Night Shift
SHIFT: D Shift
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Must be able to proficiently operate an extruder, letoff, take-up, and any other piece of equipment necessary to manufacture the required quality product for the operation required in the assigned extrusion area
LINE: Report to shift supervisor / VS Manager
STAFF: Interfaces with other extrusion operators, managers, and supervisors
Must safely operate and keep clean any piece of equipment necessary for manufacturing a product, which conforms to the quality requirements.
Must read and understand the masters, process sheets, and SOP manual, which are necessary to operate the equipment and manufacture the product.
Must complete and maintain all required paperwork necessary in the operation including DMR, inspection sheets, tally sheets, and DMT.
Must use all required hand tools necessary to set-up, take apart, and operate the extrusion equipment.
Must perform all required quality control checks and inspections to assure the product being manufactured is meeting all required specifications--this includes using micrometers, OTDR, gauge block microscope, and any other equipment necessary to meet and assure compliance.
Must be able to operate the various extrusion lines in the department if assigned.
Must be able to manufacture and maintain a quality product that meets required specifications.
Must keep equipment and area clean and organized.
Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language (i.e., the language of all plant directives) for required document control, equipment operation, and supervisor/peer instructions.
Must perform simple mathematics so as to be able to understand process sheets, masters, and SOP manuals, and keep accurate accounts of materials produced, scrapped, issued, and returned to and from stock.

Must understand and comply with all policies and procedures of Berk-Tek. This refers to attendance, breaks, conduct, and so forth.
Training period is approximately 15 weeks.
