To drive and operate various farm machinery and equipment to assist the manager in the planting,cultivating, harvesting, packing, and marketing of farm products for the Welfare System. Responsible to maintain farm equipment and machinery.
Required education and experience normally developed through academic classes, apprenticeship, and relevant experience in a mechanical field and three years equipment and machinery operation experience with ability to operate and maintain a wide range of equipment. CDL (class A) drivers license preferred.
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience (normally two years mechanical experience) in equipment maintenance and repair. Ability to use basic mechanic and maintenance tools including a welder. Ability to determine what type of maintenance various pieces of equipment would need and follow a maintenance schedule.
Demonstrated aptitude for operating above listed equipment. Must have a basic knowledge of sound safety practices relating to farm production. Requires heavy physical labor including pushing, pulling and lifting.
Lift equipment and tools weighing 60-70 lbs by hand or hoist. Climate is hot and humid and conditions can be dusty and dirty. Nature of farm production can require weekend work.
Able to wear required safety equipment and clothing as required. Able to traverse ditches and fences to perform duties on farm. Able to work around and use chemicals such as found in fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.
Able to sit for long hours on noisy, vibrating equipment in dusty, hot, wet or cold environment. Able to climb onto machinery and utilize gears, pedals and steering mechanisms simultaneously. Able to distinguish differences in sounds to determine possible machinery malfunctions.
75% Drives and operates one or more farm machines, such as tractors, trucks, and harvesters to perform specified farm activity such as cultivating row crops, cutting hay, and harvesting wheat. Drives tractor and operates designated towed machine, such as seed drill or manure spreader to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops. Prepares harvesting machine by adjusting head or depth of digging and cutting blades according to type, height, weight, and condition of crop being harvested, and contour of terrain. Moves switches, pulls levers, and turns knobs and wheels to activate and regulate mechanisms.
25% Inspects defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Maintains as well as repairs various pieces of equipment. During off season months, performs major mechanical work taking equipment apart, repairing and replacing parts short of a complete engine overhaul. Keeps a maintenance log on each piece of equipment serviced. Uses tools, gauges, manuals, etc. when repairing equipment. As required, performs machinist work and operates a welder to fabricate and repair equipment.

Farm Equipment Operator
We’re hiring for a full-time Farm Equipment Operator in Tanner, Alabama (just East of Huntsville). You will be operating various farm equipment such as a sprayer, combine, planter, tractor-trailer and tillage equipment. You will assist with light maintenance and be able to jump in other tasks as needed by the season. You will be working with our precision ag technology. Essential Job Functions
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Unload solvent tanker trucks per SOP.Unload solvent & propellant rail cars per SOP.Verify receipts for railcars and tank trucks – report inconsistencies to supply chain person
Assist propellant tanker truck driver in unloading propellant into propellant tanks per SOP.Use and hook up pumps, filters and hoses for chemical & waste transfer.Collect chemical & propellant samples and bring to lab for incoming inspection/testing.Record data from scales, meters and gauges in the tank farm area & send out inventory report on daily basis. Description •Receives/dispatches jet fuel, gasoline, diesel fuel, avgas and glycol via pipelines and trucks.
Samples and tests products for quality control and perform inspections and basic maintenance on facilities, fuel systems and fueling vehicles.

STATEMENT OF JOB
The Boiler Operator operates 400 hsp boiler to generate heating and processing steam, sampling and testing water from the boiler and boiler feed lines, making manual adjustments of valves to correct steam pressure, fuel-air ratio and regulating water entering the boiler house and manufacturing areas. Maintains daily log on test results, regenerates Zeolite water softeners, performs emergency minor repairs and blows down boilers daily. Operates Murray boiler when Keeler boiler is down for maintenance by monitoring charts and switching fuel supply from gas to propane as directed. Monitors, controls and assures proper chemical supply in waste water treatment plant.

1.Collects water samples (2) from the boiler and boiler feed line and performs routine tests by observing points or color changes as solutions are mixed and added. Tests are performed to determine alkalinity, total dissolved solids and phosphates. Results are recorded on Water Analysis sheets. Water is treated so as to bring it within prescribed limits for water softness.
2.Prepares Boiler Plant summary sheet, performance log and makes calculations such as efficiency and evaporation rate according to established formulas. Prepares daily Industrial Discharge data sheet.
3.Regenerates Zeolite water softeners by back washing filters, preparing salt brine, according to established procedures.
4.Operates boiler by performing a variety of operations such as manipulating valves that control steam used in production, checking items such as water and air temperature, and recording on Data Sheets.
5.Performs emergency minor repairs on pumps such as tightening, packing.
6.Daily backwashes filter.
7.During power failures, notifies production areas when there will be steam interruption if anticipated.
8.Insures proper operation of waste control equipment by checking caustic and acid pumps to insure their operation, checking caustic and acid tank levels and line to locate leaks. Places sample jug at pumping house outlet daily to collect sample for testing.
9.Monitors waste control panel by reading outlet and inlet pH monitors. Caustic and acid barrels level indicators and caustic tank temperature, and insures automatic equipment is operating. Also monitors outfall lift pumps, including determining exceptions to prescribed limits of outfall.
10. Repairs or troubleshoots pollution equipment or calls in Maintenance or Waste Control personnel for assistance.
11. Contacts natural gas and fuel suppliers for procurement in the event of fuel interruption.
12. Charges lime softener by filling tank with water and lime and other chemical daily.
13. Takes sludge sample from Graver Tank and determines % of sludge in boiler feed water daily.
14. Performs safety inspections to insure safe boiler operation by such activities as manually lifting the high pressure relief valves and low water cut out switch by lowering the water level in the boiler.
15. Assist boiler relief operator during boiler inspection and preparation.
16. In the event of fuel interruption, have the ability and training to change over the fuel requirement.
17. Performs housekeeping and related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
