Under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, the Blender will manufacture a variety of dry powders within set specifications to be used by a wide variety of external customers in the food industry. The Blender is responsible for the quality of blends, accurate completion of all paper work, sanitation of blender and blending area, and meeting all sample analysis requirements. This position also performs packaging job duties as required.
Follow work instructions and a job card to verify all the raw ingredients are present before beginning the weighing process
Weigh and add reach raw ingredient in the specified order according to the job card and mixing instructions
Accurately document all lot numbers for each component onto a batch sheet for traceability purposes

Blender Operator – Lancaster, Texas (1901285)
This position has the knowledge and demonstrates ability to operate state of the art mixers, pumping equipment, hi-speed mixers, and tinting equipment in the production area. Follow process orders from beginning to end and record all pertinent information. Individual will add materials at specified quantities and times, observe temperatures and or mixtures and record necessary batch information, and take, conduct and record samples at designated times to ensure timely, consistent, quality batches. Once quality controlled and approved, Operator will package finished material in appropriate packaging. The main responsibilities are the following.
Accurately and neatly record data and follow batching process orders. Giving them to the shift leader in a timely manner to ensure inventory accuracy.
Efficiently operate PLCs, recipe system, and equipment, adding raw materials at designated times and observing operating temperatures ensuring timely completion of quality batches per production schedule. Minimize and rework scrap material.
Trouble shoot equipment and process difficulties, taking corrective action to prevent the loss of material or production time. Communicate with other batch operators and maintenance personnel when difficulties arise.
Operate a forklift in a safe manner to eliminate inventory damage and accidents.
Package of finished goods when necessary.
Count and solve simple math problems, +, -, x, /, to accurately record chemical additions, lot numbers, record scale readings.
Must have strength and flexibility to bend, push, pull, lift, and climb.
Lift products (up to 100 LB) as required, and perform general labor work

FUNCTION: Transports and delivers finished feed to cattle daily by performing the following duties.

- Corrects mistakes by shoveling over fed quantities back onto truck, notifying manager of mis-feeds and cleaning up spills.

- Maintains a clean truck by cleaning out trash, wiping out, and washing according to schedule.

Bulk Feed Driver
Operates a commercial motor vehicle to transport agricultural products between Southern States Cooperative, Inc. (SSC) facilities and to customer sites within a designated region. Load types may include dry and liquid bulk products, equipment, and/or packaged merchandise. Products are based on division and facility location, and range from fertilizer, crop protectants and treatment products, to feed, seed, and farm supplies. Represents SSC in a professional manner to customers. Assists with various warehouse and facility operations. Strictly adheres to government regulations and SSC operating procedures while working independently. Vehicles meet Class B designation from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR).
Essential Job Functions
Communicate with facility management and counterparts to assess daily merchandise delivery and operations needs. Assist with planning delivery schedules and routes.
Safely operate SSC commercial vehicles to transport bulk loads, including dry and liquid fertilizer, anhydrous ammonia (NH3), crop protectants and other treatment products, palleted merchandise, farm supplies, and related equipment to proper destinations in accordance with SSC polices, DOT regulations and local traffic laws.
Load or assist with loading of dry and liquid bulk products. Verify load documentation and inventory availability. Effectively operate equipment controls on vehicle and at facility according to standard operating procedures for bulk loading. Monitor scales, meters, gauges, and terminal controls to verify weight/quantity. Utilize proper equipment to load or assist with loading palleted merchandise, equipment, and farm supplies.
Off-load or assist with off-loading merchandise at destination by dispensing from tank or utilizing forklift and material handling equipment to unload palleted merchandise, equipment and farm supplies. Review shipping documentation with customers. May load bulk fertilizer and crop protectant products into spreading vehicles.
Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspections. Maintain mileage and fuel logs. Review and complete shipping documentation including bills of lading, reports, documentation, and automated systems accurately and in a timely manner according to standard operating procedures for documentation. Review all documents prepared by receiving team members.
Represent SSC in a positive manner through professional and courteous communication with customers and business partners. Review account details with customers during deliveries. Provide information on delivered products and equipment. Collect account payments. Confirm future deliveries with customers to maintain their required inventory.
Properly utilize and maintain equipment and vehicles. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repair to keep equipment and vehicles in good working condition. Notify supervisor of vehicle and equipment service needs to ensure timely repair or replacement.
Depending upon location and business need, may perform a variety of functions to assist team with daily operations, including but not limited to: taking soil samples at customer locations, mixing bulk fertilizer according to custom formulas, loading customer vehicles, utilizing a forklift or other material handling equipment, and performing warehouse operations including receiving and inventory management.
Depending upon business need, may also operate box trucks, pick-up trucks, flat beds, and/or other vehicles to transport merchandise between SSC facilities and customer farms, production sites, and residences. Deliver, handle, load and unload a variety of packaged merchandise, including: seed, fertilizer, crop protectants and other treatment products, as well as feed, farm supplies, equipment, and/or plant material.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area by keeping tools, equipment and supplies in proper places. Minimize waste and properly dispose of waste material. Perform all related cleaning of equipment, vehicle and work areas according to Housekeeping Plan and SSC procedures.
Perform work safely as to not cause harm to yourself, customers and property, co-workers, equipment, or inventory. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Operate all equipment and vehicles according to SSC policy and government regulations. Comply with OSHA regulations, Southern States Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, work rules and policies.

Gravimetrically blend simple and complex mixtures into high and low pressure cylinders as specified by production orders.
Use conventional gravimetric blending methods in conjunction with liquid injections and sample cylinders to manufacture high quality mixtures to customer specification.
Proficiently perform gravimetric calculations to account for the effects of vapor pressure, compressibility, temperature etc.
Effectively manufacture master solutions for liquid mixtures.
Reviews SDS for all chemicals to be used prior to handling.

Promptly reports all safety concerns and good catches to management.
Quality Control & Maintenance
Ensures scale calibrations are performed annually, quarterly and checked weekly.
Verify minimum gravimetric add-weights are met as required by production order.
Check all scheduled maintenance is performed on time. Including but not limited to vacuum pump oil changes, manifold integrity checks, QC N2 samples etc.
Maintain accurate and current inventory of incoming and used raw materials.
Ensure prefill inspections are completed as required, faulty or leaking cylinders are taken to cylinder maintenance.
Understands and adheres to all standard operating procedures as established in the relevant Quality Manual.
Record all fill data in log book.
Complete file electronic back-calculation sheets.

Feed Mill Maintenance Supervisor
Supervises and coordinates the P.M., diagnosis, and repairs on mill equipment.
Performs administrative duties of maintaining records, writing reports, and personnel matters involving maintenance employees.
Prepares work schedules, set priorities, assigns duties, and supervises maintenance personnel.
Orders parts, searching for best parts at best prices, and handles billing paperwork.
Handles timecards, discipline, and other personnel matters of maintenance employees.
Trains maintenance personnel.
Supervises upkeep of all tools.
Schedules and coordinates any outside contract repairs.
Manages labor costs, overtime, and material usage.
Maintain inventory of needed parts.
Monitors mill throughout the day.
Documents compliance with Sanderson Farms, Inc. feed mill preventative maintenance program.
Prepares maintenance schedules for all equipment.
Performs other duties as required.
Key Working Relationships
Reports to the Feed Mill Manager who provides general supervision as well as specific assignments.
Maintains a close working relationship with all supervisors concerning maintenance of plant equipment.
Maintains a close working relationship with hour mill employees concerning upkeep and maintenance of plant equipment.
Works closely with the accounting department to ensure proper billing and payment of parts and outside contractors.
Academic: High school diploma or equivalent or related experience.
Experience: Two years of experience in feed mills; knowledge of welding electrical, and mechanical.
Personal: Identifies with the values, philosophy and mission of Sanderson Farms, Inc.
Ability to supervise and to communicate with others.
Ability to perform necessary paperwork and record keeping.
