The Underground Storage Tank Lead position is located within the Eastern Regional Office of the Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP). The mission of the Toxics Cleanup Program is to "To protect Washington's human health and environment by preventing and cleaning up pollution and supporting sustainable communities and natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations."
The Underground Storage Tank Lead position serves as the Eastern Region's senior environmental specialist for UST compliance, technical support, corrosion protection, facility inspections, and enforcement.
Some of the Key work activities of the Underground Storage Tank Lead position are:
In order to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of USTs and prevent of releases of hazardous substances to environment the Eastern Region's senior environmental specialist for UST compliance independently conducts UST inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions on sites.
Demonstrates use of "Significant Operational Compliance" guidance and best professional judgment.
When needed, prepares administrative orders for Section Manager signature on violations of UST regulations.
Provides expert testimony when applicable for the Pollution Control Hearings Board, case reviews, and court cases involving UST regulations and investigations, including technical support to the Attorney General's Office.
Provides regional historical perspective on those enforcement actions requiring more than field penalties (fines greater than $2000 or enforcement orders).
Coordinates special or complex UST related work in the region, and serves as the section's corrosion protection expert.
Independently documents UST system information and records compliance related data in files and applicable database(s).
Reviews UST related submittals (e.g., checklists, etc.) to ensure databases and files contain accurate information.
When requested, recommends new or modified performance measures related to UST compliance to senior staff or management.
Coordinates and responds to federal agency inspections and investigations for violations of the UST regulations.
Provides guidance to new or junior UST inspectors, including but not limited to enforcement.
Educates and provides technical assistance to the regulated community and UST service providers upon request and as directed.

Provide efficient operation of the tank farm facilities.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals in the tank farm; provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of tank farm customer orders.
Ensures compliance with all State and Federal labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.
Inspects and checks tank farm equipment and facilities to ensure that all equipment is in good operating condition.
Ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.
Makes monthly inspection of plant fire control system.
Maintains warehouse stocks after they are received and ensures that aisles and warehouse floor is cleaned and cleared of merchandise.
Prepare a monthly list of all-empty containers, un-repairable pallets, distressed stock, and miscellaneous non-usable materials and submit to Warehouse Manager.
Exchange workers with other warehouse sections as needed.
Complete inspections and paperwork associated with hazardous waste generation and waste pickup transport.
Any problems with regard to tank farm operation should be brought to the attention of Warehouse or Operation's Manager.
High School Diploma, or GED with additional schooling or equivalent business experience.
Should have 3 to 5 years of experience with the Company.
Training in Contingency Plan (OTC-053) and Hazardous Waste (OTC-239).
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

Ability to respond to emergency response situations
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Ability to respond to emergencies and direct Emergency Response Teams
Ability to operate all warehouse equipment
Ability to work varying and extended hours

Working in a two-person team, the Tank Assembler is responsible for assembling plastic frames and glass pieces to make various sized aquariums. They are in charge of spreading adhesive on all seams and edges of tanks to develop a waterproof seal. After completion they will conduct a quality check on each tank. The starting pay for this position is $13.00; once training is completed the rate of pay will vary depending on your work performance and production output. The average piece rate of this position is $17.00, with many employees receiving over $20 per hour. MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Working in a two-person team, receives prepared frame from Silicone Applicator.
Place individual pieces of glass into frame and add plastic frame top.
Reach into assembled tank and smooth all seams using finger.
Move completed aquarium to curing table.
May add masking tape to hold glass pieces in position during curing.
Align all edges for perfect 90 degree corners.
Inspect for quality.
Count and report number of finished units each day.
Assist partner with setup.
Obtain raw materials and supplies.
Properly handle and dispose of broken glass.
Control and maintain an appropriate work speed to match the partner's (Silicone Applicator) work speed.
Report daily production totals for the two-person team.
Clean up work area.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
Desire to be in control of your earning potential!
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work as a team member and work cooperatively with an assigned partner
Perform repetitive tasks with speed and accuracy
Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Must be able to stand/walk for a 10 hour shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
Plant environment with periodic visits to the office area of the plant.
Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
