At this level the associate has demonstrated the proficiency to do their job with only limited help while maintaining performance objectives on standard work processes. This includes recognition of routine problems and the ability to keep the process running by making appropriate adjustments to correct the problems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrates ability to effectively use tools introduced at Level 1 in order to complete adjustments needed in the trainer's absence. This includes the following: using necessary machine controls for adjustments, die and holder end and side shifts, understanding the set-up card, understanding the die and part identifier (a.k.a. UTNS#), capable of checking dies for proper installation, cleaning/inspecting of dies and holders.
Capable of completing cell PVD Boards.
Understands the purpose and operation of Pyrometer Infrared Camera.
Capable of performing daily and weekly machine maintenance.
Capable of basic Heater operation.
Capable of basic robot operations and adjustments as required.
Capable of basic Trim Press operations and adjustments as required.
Understandings of proper re-heat procedure.
Knowledge of process differences when dealing with exotic materials and material segregation.
Qualified to perform in process inspections.
Recognize and comply with all applicable Swagelok procedures.
Understands and interprets production schedule.
Perform start-stop procedures including, but not limited to: machine and conveyor start-up, loading of raw material, and machine shutdown. • Perform simple commands on the control panel.
Perform simple and advanced changes, adjustments, and set-up to tooling and fixtures.
Complete records and forms.
Check forged parts visually and dimensionally according to quality standards.
Recognize and report machine malfunctions and part discrepancies to supervisor.
Preset tooling as required.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual machine maintenance.
Correct problems for set-up, non-conformance, tooling and machining processes.
Make suggestions for process changes that may improve machining operations.
Assist with associate orientation as assigned.
Perform job related administrative tasks using SAP.

High School diploma or equivalent
Basic computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).
Able to read and follow work instructions.
Familiar with operation of PLC interface screens.
Requires the use of hand tools, SAP, and standard work.
Must have good mechanical aptitude and be able to utilize a micrometer, caliper, and 6" rule to gauge parts. Preferred: • 2-4 years of forging experience preferred.
Knowledge of products and processes is also preferred.

Support production of precision forged vanes and approval of manufacturing processes for the demanding environments of next generation turbine engine applications. Drive implementation of corrosion control plan for aluminum parts. Act as a liaison between MPE (engineering) and Columbus Forge (operation).
Support disposition of airfoils non-conformances by working with MPE design material engineers. Participate in root cause corrective action and monthly management corrective action board meeting to help improve production processes & part yield.
You will interact with materials & processing engineering, manufacturing engineering, component integrated parts team, quality and module centers with some travel to MPE in East Hartford, CT.
Work closely with MPE modeling groups to model final part shape, optimize forging process to improve parts yield and reduce the production cost. Further the understanding of chemistry-thermomechanical processing-properties relationships, microstructure evolution and resulting residual stresses from forging, heat treatment, tweaking & machining processes.
You should be proficient in the physical and mechanical metallurgy of alloys and associated processes.
Familiarity and or expertise in some of the following areas is required: Alloys ingot casting; conversion; forging; heat treatment; machining; inspection processes; and material characterization (mechanical, physical & metallographic).
To be successful in this position, you should have the following experience:
BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace engineering
5+ years of experience in material data analysis, quality systems, material selection processes, and material specification and interpretation
The final Grade/Level for this position will be based on Qualifications and Experience.
US Citizen due to government contract programs requirements

Federal Mogul Motorparts' chassis plant is looking for several Forging Technicians to work 2nd and 3rd shift, due to growth and retirements. MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Determine stain color to be applied.
Will calculate and measure ingredients and follow directions regarding proper mixture of sealer, stain, and top coat finishes.
Visually inspect for cracks, holes, excess glue or other blemishes that would affect finished appearance.
Fill, sand or correct any blemishes.
Spray entire cabinet with stain.
Wipe/sand cabinet to remove excess stain and check for uniform color.
Apply final coat of spray sealer.
Conduct final inspection of product.
Perform daily and weekly maintenance on spray gun.
Complete daily production paperwork.
May assist with other woodshop duties as needed.
All other duties as assigned.

Grinder / Finisher
A growing precision grinding department is seeking an experienced Grinder / Finisher. This is a “direct-hire” position that operates CNC grinding machines in the Park City area.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Setting-up, editing programs, trouble shooting, and operating machines. Use a range of manual measuring tools to inspect machined parts is required as well.
Desired Requirements for the Grinder / Finisher position:
- Ability to set-up, edit and operate CNC ID / OD Grinding Machines and/or CNC mills & lathes.
- Must have an excellent understanding of GD&T.
- Previous Studers, Voumards or Okuma cylindrical grinder experience preferred.
- Prefer previous work experience in either ID and/or OD grinding. CNC grinding experience is required but manual experience is a plus.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to established procedures.
- Proficient reading and understanding blueprints along with understanding CNC programs. Previous FANUC controller experience helpful.
- Ability to manually inspect machined parts and verify conformance to given specs.

Selects and mounts proper tool in burr gun. Also determines what will be removed by belt cleanup.
Conduct dimensional inspection as required using B/P, height gauge, caliper, MIC feeler gauge and check gauges, etc.
Manipulates tool or parts to remove unwanted metal. Dimensional inspection will be done at this time.
Completes paperwork on travelers as required.
May transport finished pieces to next operation stations ensuring paperwork is complete before movement.
Instructions are provided on job assignments and equipment. Operating difficulties. Able to interpret routine traveler and tech card instructions.
