What you'll do:
Load and unload laminate reels on / off winders, run the machine and recording reel transactions.
Closely monitor product quality, assuring first quality material shipped to customers.
Report machine breakdowns / faults, possible quality defects not marked in coating and other process disturbances to supervisor.
Report process and or mechanical difficulties.
Coordinate with supervisor and production planning to optimize the material / order flow.
Assure adequate operating supplies and informing purchasing of any shortages.
Perform other tasks as specified by the Quality Management System.
Who you are:
You have any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School education and 1-2 years' work experience in an industrial setting.
You have previous work experience in paper/paper converting industry or experience working with web-handling equipment desired, previous Slitting / Finishing of pressure sensitive laminates preferred.
You are able to work well within a team required.
You have well-developed problem solving skills, including the ability and willingness to apply a systematic approach to the process.
You are computer-literate, basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills, you are able to understand and adhere to written work instructions.

Specialty finishing converting area consists of multiple machines and or processes that add value to our customers finished product. In doing so, there will be specialized instructions written, verbal, and technical drawings required for the set up and running of this converting equipment. As part of the value we provide to our customers, all specialty finishing operators will be required to set up and operate multiple high speed converting assets. Attention to detail, flexibility, problem solving skills and teamwork are a must.
Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
Knowledge of the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
Regular attendance is required. May be required to work some overtime.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.

Operate and maintain a basket case packer. The primary work schedule for the operator is a 12 hour rotating shift.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Understands that SAFETY comes first and is directly related to productivity.
Must be willing to participate in incident reviews, notifies leads / converting manager / supervisors of safety problems and enters notification/s into SAP system.
Complies with all company and department safety, training, quality, productivity and security procedures.
Ensures accuracy in recording of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machine. This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements (written and database), machine logbooks, checklists and SAP.
Monitor for inefficient operation and makes minor adjustments as necessary and/or notifies and assists (as needed) the gluer operator in resolution of such issues.
Understands glue monitoring and control systems on the case packer (including some minor gluer machine controls).
Understands and participates in the Standard Work system and takes full ownership of working environment.
Will show up for work 15 minutes prior to shift start time (6:45 AM/PM) to participate in shift meeting, unless otherwise directed by supervisor or converting manager.
Responsible for communicating through the gluer operator/leads / manager / supervisor to printing / cutting operators regarding quality issues with the printed and/or cut material.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or converting manager.
Will assist in "breaking out" operators as needed. Understands and monitors the quality of product being produced and maintains per requirements.
Participates in lean manufacturing teams and contributes to the overall process improvement in a cross functional basis.
Ability to enter information into SAP, parts logs and utilize ei3 system.
Must be willing to complete all training required / pass task evaluations / document training / maintain certification

May operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations that are fed collated sheets or signatures and perform such functions as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering and delivering or stacking completed books, magazines or catalogs. Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine. Direct crew though all aspects of production. Monitor quality, output and productivity.
General knowledge of the more complex bindery machines (i.e. fully automatic binding machines (perfect binders), multiple station collators and multiple folding units, either individually or combined) to perform the full range of standard and specialized folds of printed materials. Thorough knowledge of the set up, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of one or more bindery machines to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating and cutting of printed materials to complete a combined finishing product.
Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements which indicate the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided; independently makes decisions on the type of equipment to be used. Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock. Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials.
Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines. Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.
