Production Supervisor – Spacecraft Structural Assembly (Split Shift Day – 11AM Start Time)
The production supervisor for Dragon structural assemblies is responsible for the Crew Dragon vehicle primary and secondary structural assembly, sub-assembly, and test for capsules and trunks. Critical assembly tasks the group performs include capsule and trunk precision drilling, primary structure builds, thermal protection integration including heat shield mate, and final capsule checkouts. This supervisor is responsible for the overall on-time and zero defect deliveries of Dragon 2 capsule and trunk to the final integration work areas.
Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow.
Works closely with the manufacturing and responsible engineering teams for new production introduction on first builds.
Resolve Material Review Board issues.
Lead and manage a staff of ~30 technicians including all performance management related tasks.
Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed.

To oversee and direct all activities relative to the electrical and pneumatic assembly function, including tryout and de-bug, as it pertains to cost, quality, and delivery of client products.
Lead and enforce safe working practices throughout the plant and all customer sites.
Responsible for the proper execution of safety procedures/ training as outlined and identified by client Automation management, MIOSHA, and OSHA. Organize and follow-up as required with safety team responsibilities and confirm execution of required tasks.
Follow and enforce good housekeeping practices as defined by leadership throughout the plant.
Responsible for housekeeping in the following areas of the plant:
Electrical Assembly area,
Pipefitter Assembly area
Around any machine that is being worked on by any direct reports.
Lead good craftsmanship on jobs that are being built by assuring that procedures/practices are in place that will assure quality workmanship by all department personnel.
Responsible for compliance to all established administrative and quality procedures as outlined by client Automation leadership. (ie: QS-9000TE, ISO Made 2 Manage, etc.)
Responsible to complete a quality check of all machinery relative to electrical and pneumatic function and verify that machines/units are ready for buy-off and that all equipment shipped is of quality construction. Follow-up/enforce completion as required in process QC check sheets. Follow-up/enforce completion as required QC audits.
Responsible for prioritizing the daily activities of all Electrical/Pneumatic Assembly departmental activities/personnel to assure delivery dates that are compliant with established due dates. (Daily work assignments, panel builds, panel delivery, etc.) Works in close conjunction with the Mechanical Assembly Supervisor during build, tryout, de-bug, and tear down to assure proper prioritization of work and proper communication between departments.
Responsible to determine and execute proper manning requirements for the department(s) based on current and future capacity needs. (This is done in conjunction with the Operations Manager)
Responsible for assuring that all department equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition at all times. This includes all of the electrical and pipefitting requirements for the building (Man-lift, compressor, threader, Benders, Lights, porta-bands, band saws, Porta-Mags/Drills). This function includes defining a proper PM plan and arranging for PM's and corrective action when needed.
Responsible for making recommendations about the purchase of new equipment and/or eliminating old equipment.
Responsible to assist with the teardown and packaging of machines/units for shipping; especially as it pertains to electrical panels and components.
Is an active participant in subcontracting decision making for the electrical/pneumatic processes. This is done in conjunction with Purchasing, Operations Manager, Scheduling, and/or Controls Engineering.
Provides necessary feedback to Scheduling, Assembly, Purchasing, and Management relative to specific cost and timing issues.
Responsible for monitoring company-established measurables and reprioritizing or adjusting systems/procedures to obtain the desired results. Also, responsible for documenting, record keeping, and presentation to management of measurables.
Responsible for the organization of Electrical/Pneumatic department data (both printed and electronic) and effective and timely communication with all other departments concerning this data.
Assists Controls Engineering in the proper design of electrical and pneumatic circuits.
Works with the Controls Engineering department on cost and timing improvements, Engineering Changes, and Continuous Improvement activities.
Lead the change process: recommend, initiate, and follow-up as needed on engineering changes and document according to ECO procedures. Document changes per ECO process using the kiosk located on the shop floor. Only applicable when the system has been set-up for Electrical prints. Mark-up/Red-Line schematics as needed.
Work on continuous improvement projects as needed.
Responsible to fulfill all administrative requirements for hiring, firing, discipline, merit recognition, and technical development of all reporting personnel.
Responsible to determine training needs of department personnel and work with Operations Manager to determine best way to execute those needs. Mentor and develop Leaders.
Must maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with all client personnel and actively participate in problem solving with other departments as it relates to Electrical/Pneumatic Assembly issues.
