An Electrical Craft Helper assists a skilled journey-level worker engaged in one of the electrical trades. Typical assignments involve the maintenance and construction of electrical systems for buildings and facilities; installation and maintenance of overhead or underground power distribution systems; or shop repair activities. Apprentice training opportunities leading to craft positions are available in some departments.
Six months of full-time paid experience as a helper in an electrical trade; or
Successful completion of one of the following:
Completion of at least eight months in the Utility Pre-Craft Trainee training program sponsored by the Department of Water and Power; or
Hayden Electricity Course sponsored by the Department of Water and Power; or
Pre-Electrical Craft Helper training course presented by Los Angeles Trade Technical College; or
The 120 hour Electrical Technician/Electric Utility Worker class presented by the Los Angeles Unified School District; or
The 600 hour Electrical Technician/Electrical Distribution Mechanic Trainee Program presented by the Los Angeles Unified School District; or

The next multiple-choice test administration will be held in a single half-day session on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2019 in Los Angeles. Candidates will be notified later by e-mail of the time and location of the multiple-choice test. Additional test dates will be added as needed.
For future test administrations, candidates may have the option of choosing to take the multiple-choice test in-person at a City facility or on-line. Those who choose to take the multiple-choice test on-line may do so as instructed from a remote location, which may include your home or City facility, using a computer with a webcam and a reliable internet connection. Prior to appointment, eligibles may be required to pass a test of physical ability administered by the appointing authority which may test areas of upper and lower body strength, flexibility and stamina.

Driver Helper will be responsible for delivering orders to customers in a timely manner and good condition while maintaining a professional demeanor along with using preferred work methods to perform job safely and successfully while satisfying the customer.
Load and unload truck and/or company vehicles by hand or by use of a hand truck or dolly.
Unload and verify all returning product with the appropriate check- in personnel.
Pad, stack, and secure items in position in order to prevent damage during shipment.
Deliver and stack merchandise on customer premises.
May operate company non-commercial vehicle to deliver product to customer as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
Accurately count and deliver orders.
Assist Drivers off-load products to customers.
Able to lift up to 90 lbs. (Average case weight is 50 lbs.)
Deliver food and related items to customers by unloading product from trailer and transporting it to specified location.
Work overtime as required.
Perform job safely and participate in on-going safety awareness efforts.
Adhere to established work schedule and attendance standards, and be punctual to work and meetings.
Able to count money and keep account of merchandise
Two-wheel dolly experience
Equipment operations experience
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent

Ability to lift up to 90 lbs. and climb in and out of truck throughout the day

Verifying that parts are dimensionally correct in comparison to blueprints and labeled correctly
Touch up parts and attach ID tags by means of GMAW/MIG welding
Sort parts and send them to the appropriate assembly shop
Track labor per order appropriately
What it takes
Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
Previous experience operating a forklift
The ability to pass a 1G flat weld assessment
The ability to operate an overhead crane
The ability to read a tape measure and use a caliper
The ability to maintain an organized working environment
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
