The Spirit of the Position:
The Flagger directs traffic and helps keep the flow of traffic moving on a specific route and/or direction. This position might also require some minimal customer interaction. Attention to detail and ability to handle a high volume of cars is preferred.
Principal Job Duties:
Greet customers and display a caring attitude, develop a rapport with the parkers in your assigned area.
Assist customers in lots/garages and help direct traffic.
Promote good customer relations by consistently showing a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
Must work with or without supervision.

Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May cleanand prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, perform demolition activities, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.
Support UIC incident free safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for the safe performance of the job, both for personal safety and that of fellow workers. Take necessary actions to stop or correct unsafe behaviors or conditions and, if appropriate, report them to the site Supervisor. OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Card preferred
Ensure safe traffic controlling using Traffic Control methods.
Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures
Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as asphalt.
Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers.
Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
•Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:
Must have prior experience flagging.
Proficient with all hand and power small tools
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures for effectively completing project
Must have Flagging Card
Must have 2 year's of general labor experience.
Must be punctual to work schedule.

Warn laborers and drivers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers.
Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
Record license number of traffic control violators for police.
Give hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic.
Write and review maintenance and incident reports for on-site issues or concerns.
Valid Drivers' License with good driving record.
Valid Flagger Certification by the State of Colorado.
Knowledge and skillful implementation of federal and state regulations for work zone safety and traffic control.
Knowledge of manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) guidelines and the translation of this to control traffic by using proper devices and techniques.
Knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and the ability to abide by them.
500 hours experience in traffic control flagging.
Basic understanding of construction job sites.

The Raceway Flagger position provides a lookout for any issues on the track that
might be a danger or cause an accident. The Flagger will keep tracks free from

The starting wage rate for this position depends upon the division and job classification for which you are hired, and can fluctuate between divisions for the same job classification.

JOB DESCRIPTION (General Information):
Your POSITION or "JOB CLASS" (ATSSA Flagger) and your starting salary are set at the time you are hired. Both are determined by the Personnel Director, and the supervisor and division to whom you are assigned. Their decision is based upon the completeness of your application, the interview process, your references, and your values and behavior, your talent, your previous construction experience, your job knowledge in our line of work and finally, how well we perceive you to "fit in" with our employees and management philosophies.
Any future promotions and/or pay increases are determined strictly by your work performance, continuing knowledge and attitude at the time of your evaluation.
Your primary responsibilities as a ATSSA Flagger is to follow all policies and rules of Flippo Construction Company, Inc., and to physically assist in each phase of work to be done, which includes, but is not limited to:
1.Must have a current ATSSA Certification Card.
2.Be on time for work each day at the time specified by your Supervisor.
3.Show up for work each day, unless otherwise directed by your Supervisor. In the event of illness which prevents you from working, you must call the dispatcher (at the yard you work out of), prior to 6:30 a.m., to inform your Supervisor of your status. If your illness requires you to be off for 3 or more days, a doctor's slip will be required before you are allowed to return to work.
4.Always are in or near your work area during the day unless you are directed otherwise by a Supervisor.
5.Attend weekly tool box talks and all other company safety meetings.
6.Read, understand, and follow at all times the 25 Basic Safety Rules of the Company. Follow all other safety rules.
7.Take directions from your Supervisor or in their absence their designated competent person.
8.Work in all types of climate or weather conditions, unless there is a threat of immediate danger.
9.Flaggers perform duties such as removing debris from the road or working on road construction themselves.
10. Submit to a "random" drug/alcohol test upon request by the Human Resources Department.
11. Be available to work 40 hours per week. Be available to work overtime, if required by your Supervisor. (All hours worked over 40 hours in a continuous pay period will be paid at time and a half).
12. Upon request by your Supervisor, be available to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, if required.

The position of an ATSSA Flagger requires the individual to possess the physical and mental ability to perform the following tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day. A flagger must be organized, agnatical and attentive to what's going on around him. He must work well alone and as a member of a group, since directing traffic is often a team effort. He should possess strong communication skills, as he needs to relay traffic information to other flaggers and construction workers or report accidents to law enforcement officials. Flaggers should be professionals and courteous, even when dealing with agitated drivers.
1.Negotiate rough terrain.
2.Carry and use trade associated tools, equipment, or material up to a weight of 95 pounds.
3.Push, pull, load, and unload tools, equipment, or materials.
4.Stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb, or walk.
5.Purchase, wear and maintain safety equipment as required by the type of work you are performing or when directed by your Supervisor or the Safety Department. These items must be purchased/worn immediately upon employment.
6.Know how to identify fuels (gasoline, diesel, mixed gas), and know which fuel is used to operate each small tool and compressors.
7.Know how to identify and safely operate all GENERAL EQUIPMENT to include air compressors, arrowboards, rollers, Bidwell-Concrete Screed, gas testers, fire extinguishers, etc.
8.Know how to identify Company TRUCKS to include compressor, service, dump, plate, boom, vactor, and lowboy.
9.Know how to identify Company EQUIPMENT to include backhoes, loaders, trackhoes, cranes, bobcats, etc.
10. Possess the ability to understand, remember, and follow work related instructions or methods.

We are currently seeking a Flagger to join our team.
Controls movement of vehicular traffic through sites in which tree trimming is performed.
Directs movement of traffic through the site using approved traffic signals.
Moves from job site to job site as necessary.
Uses a stop and slow paddle and flag, each of which weighs approximately less than 1 pound.
Works in all temperatures and weather condition and will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.
Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to grip and turn traffic control sign frequently.
Must have good vision and be attentive.
Must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
Must be able to verbally communicate with other crew members and fully understand instructions and information.
Must have transportation to and from the show up location.
Must pass a background and/or MVR check.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have a Flagger Certification Card.
Must be willing to join the local union.
