Responsibilities You will serve as a Sewing Machine Operator in the Cadet Uniform Factory
, located at United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. You will operate a standard high-speed industrial sewing machine, performing a number of operations in the manufacture of items of the cadet uniform section work. Some of the duties you will perform include: Use specialized sewing machines to create buttonhole eyelet, bartack, over edge, cylinder, and chain stitch. On a required basis, other duties may be occasionally performed such as hand sewing, alterations or repairs, depending on the workload. Identify completed garments according to size and lot and apply bar coding tickets. Fold Bundle or box completed garments. Position fusible reinforcements onto cut parts and feed into automatic fusing machine.

Thread machine, winds and changes the bobbin.

Assist in the manufacturing of industrial slings, tie-downs and wire rope:
- Ensure that all materials and auxiliary supplies are available prior to beginning work
- Start sewing machinery at the beginning of a shift and test it for proper functionality
