Concrete finisher: finish concrete including sidewalks, aprons, ramps, slabs, retaining walls and curbing.

- Operates a screed to level freshly placed concrete according to grade and depth specification
- Smooth concrete surface using either a hand trowel, long handled “bull float” powered float and/or riding trowel machines
- Cut joints/grooves in concrete with edging tools to help control cracking, as well as layout and saw cut joints with an early entry saw
- Set and place forms to proper elevations and location, prepare the base and install proper reinforcing
- Install anchor bolts, steel plates imbeds and other fixtures into freshly poured concrete and/or pattern or stamp the surface to provide a decorative finish
- Valid CDL Class A or B license
- Must understand ADA compliance
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
- Skill in smoothing, finishing freshly placed concrete, applying surface treatments and restoring concrete surfaces.
- Work overtime as required
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.

Performs ID drifts.
Pressure test mandrel to engineering specifications using hydro test pump and chart recorder or straighten mandrels after heat treat.

SUMMARY: Grinders are responsible for performing grinding and finishing work on sheet metal products for secondary operations without any cosmetic flaws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate standard manufacturing equipment.
Deburr, buff, or polish materials to specifications.
Examines and feels surface of work products part for defects.
Removal of defects, scratches, excess weld material, and burs to produce a smooth unmarred surface.
Selects grade of abrasive disks, wheels, and belts according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder.
Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts.
Prepare products for secondary operations such as powder coating and plating by achieving a Class A finish without any cosmetic flaws.
Use of precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of product for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
Ensure that safety devices are operative.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Minimum of high school diploma, or related, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Smooth and finishes surfaces of poured concrete, such as walks, sidewalks, roads or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools
Align forms for sidewalks, curbs or gutter; patch voids; use saws to cut expansion joints; check the forms that holds the concrete to ensure they are properly constructed
Set and align the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed and float
Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
Monitor how the wind, heat or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process

Sprinkle colored marble or stone chips, powdered steel or coloring powder over surface to produce desired design or pattern

Concrete Finishers,Concrete Pour/Finishers
The Trades Small Capital Project construction crews of the Park and Recreation Department are responsible for the construction of 8-12 capital projects, totaling $1 million, annually. Capital projects constructed by our crews may consist of walks/trails, playgrounds, shelters, retaining walls, multi-purpose courts and parking/roadway improvements and may be located in any of our 281 parks.
We operate two separate crews all year around. This position requires basic construction knowledge and skills, as well as familiarity with typical construction equipment and tools. The City of Fort Worth Park and Recreation Department, Planning and Resource Management is recruiting for a concrete finisher to fill the vacant position of a Skilled Trades Technician/Concrete Finisher.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
The selected candidate will perform construction of small capital projects, including but not limited to the following: playgrounds, sidewalks and trails, shelters, parking lots and roadways, paver installations, brick work and roofing. The successful candidate must have the ability to finish concrete, set forms, tying rebar, some knowledge of erecting shelters or commercial playgrounds, paint, perform strenuous manual labor tasks, and willingness to work in all kinds of weather and overtime when required.
