ITW Commercial Construction is seeking a Senior Flatwork Engineer to identify and develop professional relationships with concrete flatwork decision-makers in concert with Territory Managers to successfully communicate PNA's product portfolio value proposition in support of national and regional sales initiatives.
This role may be based in Houston or Austin TX.

Identify and develop professional relationships with key concrete flatwork decision makers in concert with Territory Managers
Collaborate with concrete flatwork decision makers (e.g., owners, engineers, architects, flatwork contractors, tenants, realtors) to understand project needs and design criteria to provide a value engineering proposal
Prepare and deliver targeted presentations (technical and general) to decision maker audiences regarding performance-based designs, value engineering, alternate bidding, flatwork design, life-cycle cost analyses concepts, and the PNA product portfolio value proposition
Work independently, or with other in-house Design Engineers, to provide project-specific design optimizations for concrete flatwork projects
Provide technical/engineering training and support to TMs through interpretation of internal/external engineering references and through communication with other local concrete flatwork experts
Contribute to technical and competitive analyses that leverage local, regional and industry market data and trends to create tools to be used by Territory Managers to educate, inform, and influence the selling process
Engage in industry associations and local engineering organizations (i.e., ACI, ACPA, ASCE) and owner/developer focused tradeshows to foster relationships and become a recognized concrete flatwork engineer within the groups
Develop a proficiency using ITW Business Principles to effectively manage engineering engagements and sales processes to maximize results

Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master degree preferred
5+ years of concrete flatwork engineering experience required
Professional Engineer (PE) license or evidence of working towards such required
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to read construction drawings and analyze project specifications
Ability to identify and influence decision makers in the engineering specification process
Results-driven self-starter able to manage multiple priorities with highly effective follow-through skills
Strong presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Overnight travel required up to 50%

THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION
Under close supervision, performs a variety of grit blasting, hand and bench grinding operations to remove casting defects and smooth and finish the surface of welded castings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works to appropriate process control and quality procedures for finishing operations.
Reads and follows shop traveler instructions.
Operates manual and automatic grit blast equipment and handheld pneumatic and bench grinding tools and equipment.
Selects appropriate tool to perform basic and routine exterior and interior surface finishing, scraping, deburring, to remove visual casting defects from the part.
Performs "dig out" on selected castings according to NDT Department instructions.
Selects and correctly mounts proper tool in burr gun. Also determines what will be removed by belt clean up.
Manipulates tool or parts to remove unwanted metal. May perform simple dimensional inspections.
Prepares the casting defect area for weld repair by grinding proper weld repair cavity.
Exercise care in handling and operation to avoid surface damage, cracking or over stressing of parts and to obtain required finish, dimensional and inter-relational tolerances.
Detect and report defective parts or unusual conditions to lead or supervisor.
Perform job functions within training and ability as assigned by lead or supervisor to meet daily throughput goals.
Follow all prescribed safety procedures and wear PPE as prescribed in Hazard Assessment Form for the job.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions within standard procedures.
Requires eye hand visual and manual dexterity to operate manual grinding tools along with continuous mental or visual attention requiring alertness.
Physical demands to lift up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to wear PPE for finishing and grinding.
Reports to the Finishing lead person and the Finishing supervisor.
EDUCATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Requires the use of shop math plus decimals, fractions, formulas, specifications charts, tables, and adjustable measuring instruments requiring interpretation, preparations and posting.

Perform hand finishing of milled parts and skins using hand and power tools to remove machine marks, burrs, irregularities and blemishes. Complete and fair machined contours, edge finish, surfaces, and form-specified radii and chamfer on edges per BAC specifications.
Job Responsibilities include:
Employment in this position also flexion/extension, handling, standing, use of low impact vibratory tools, walking, twisting and bending at the waist, carrying and lifting less than 10 pounds, pushing/pulling less than 10 pounds, rotation of head/neck, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm, ears and feet.

Obtain and read manufacturing plans and engineering drawings, as required, to determine area to be worked.
Remove burrs and break edges using routers, scrapers, and sanders.
Work with and assist higher classified employees to finish detailed parts and/or skins.
Use air powered hand sanders to remove machining marks, surface irregularities, and mismatches.
Break sharp edges of parts, as required, prior to hydroform and stretch press operations to prevent cracking of parts.
Clean surfaces using solvents and/or water, as required.
Use hand trimmers and machine trimmers to remove tooling tabs.
Use hand-held power tools with rotary files, abrasive wheels, and sanding discs to fair contours, finish edges, chamfers, and radii.
Mark parts using vibrator pencil, steel stamp, or tags.
Package parts, (protective wrap, inter-leaf), as required.
Check own work for conformance to specification.
