As the Associate Principal Scientist on the Flavor Technology team, you will drive the development, application and commercialization of new flavors and taste modification technology tools in support of Pepsi's global business growth. In-depth knowledge of flavor application processes and best practices for flavor end use in beverage. Extensive understanding of flavor delivery systems including emulsions, extractions and blends as well as their use in beverage. Capability to modify existing flavor formulations to deliver specific profiles
Successfully transition from bench top prototypes to large scale commercialization in support of global growth initiatives. Understand technical roadmaps, hurdles and key challenges. Final flavors are plant-friendly and sustainable. Knowledge of flavor application and beverage sample preparation techniques
Drive global innovative projects. Identify, accelerate and execute fast to market approaches to meet project goals. Deliver winning taste profiles to consumers while meeting cost targets
Play a key role in supporting the screening/evaluating novel taste modification technology tools, responsible for rapid implementation into different bases and beverage products; become proficient with taste modification toolkit as it relates to performance, cost, regulatory, etc
Collaborate and work under the guidance of senior flavorists and scientists. Interface and build strategic networks and effective working relationships with different functions and vendors as necessary to support project work
Ability to work safely in a lab environment conducting, evaluating and assessing flavor prototypes to fit concept or performance specifications (functionally or operationally feasibility)
Strong technical background with emphasis on flavor creation and taste modification technology. Proven track record in flavor creation; commercialization and hands-on bench capability.

Certified Flavor Chemist preferred
A proven track record in flavor development and hands-on bench capability; successful creation and commercialization of flavors including extracts, emulsions and blends; in depth knowledge of essential oils and other flavor raw materials.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the flavor library and customer sampling system
Maintain an organized and clean flavor lab.
Compound liquid and powder flavors and adjust formulations based on input received from Flavor chemist.
Create new formulations proactively to increase flavor formulation knowledge.
Prepare for monthly flavor tests by studying SFC syllabus and using industry publications with the goal of taking first SFC formal test (apprentice) after year 5 and second test (certification) after year 7.
Perform typical flavor laboratory activities e.g. distillation and liquid extraction.
Operate QA equipment such as balances, pH meter, refractometer, flash point analyzer, GCMS.
Maintain and update database of flavors and associated documentation.
Prepare documentation including Product Specifications, SDS, Nutritional, SOP's
Work in conjunction with the flavor scientists to follow project outlines.
Support applications with projects as needed.
Maintain inventory of needed supplies and ingredients and procure same as required.
Record information including lab methods, results and general observations.
Take assigned samples for lab analysis and shelf life studies
Ability to move packages weighing up to 25lbs.
Read through Standard Operating Procedures and help update.
Work courteously and tactfully with laboratory clients, the public and employees.
Perform other duties as assigned
Requires a Bachelors' degree (B.S or B.A.) in Chemistry, Food Science or related field.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel and possess good report writing and communication skills.

Product Quality: Accurately makes cheeses, creams and enzyme reaction flavors by formula. This position requires the employee to frequently use senses of sight and hearing when judging product quality and mechanical aspects.
Safety and Sanitary Compliance: Has a comprehensive working knowledge and performs the safe operation of a variety of equipment such as, but not limited to, reactors, mixers, packaging, etc. Complies with all FDA requirements and follow GMPs. Maintains swabbing and sanitation schedule, so that sanitation levels are consistent with AIB standards.

The Flavor Operator, under the general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of appropriate seasoning coverage on product.
Essential Job Duties
Monitors and replenishes seasoning and/or toppings on overhead to ensure proper seasoning coverage on product.
Properly plans ahead for product/seasoning changeovers to efficiently change from one product item to another.
Keeps tumblers/scales and work areas clean, wipes equipment down in accordance to the allergen program.
Prepares tumblers/machines for re-work of product.
Immediately reports any equipment problems to the maintenance team.
If qualified, operates machinery if necessary.

Prepares batches according to shop floor paper instructions.
Read, Collect, and Analyze analytical data from stills and extraction equipment. Utilize analytical lab equipment such as hydrometer, densitometer, etc., alone or in coordination with QC Department or Process Engineer.
Upon completion of batches, ensures timely backflushing of materials to maintain inventory accuracy.
Operates electric and/or gas sit down and electric reach trucks as required.
Individual must have good working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, SAP, Excel, inventory control and maintain highest levels of sanitation in and around their work area.
Push/pull 400 pound drums and lift 50 pound bags as required.
Compare information on ZFIS to ensure proper packaging and amount of material against customer orders.
Capable of wearing full-face respirator when required for handling of specific materials.
Individual must be able to work unsupervised and handle unexpected situations, especially when working on the off-shift.

The Utility Extractor extracts, sorts and reviews utility invoices according to the department and customers' procedures. This position also prepares freight invoices.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Agissar extractor associate responsibilities:
Extracts mail from an Agissar machine, sorts utility bills, other mail inserts, checks, terms and invoices based on mode, number of pages, etc.
Uses multiple separator sheets to organize utility bills going to scanning.
Performs a manual review of utility invoices to ensure compliance with customer and department procedures
Separates bills, which do not meet client and/or department standard procedures. Attaches standard reject form and forwards to the lead for review.
Preps freight invoices for scanning. Removes staples, organizes bills in a neat, orderly manner and assures barcodes and paper is proper for scanning.
Reviews and complies with new or updated client and departmental procedures.
Discards old procedures and files updates as received.
Performs minor troubleshooting on the Agissar machine when necessary.
Shows initiative in presenting problems and possible solutions to lead or supervisor.
Maintains the work area in order to present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned and works overtime as required by management to ensure timely completion of all accounts.
