Description of Work
We are currently recruiting a Food Service Supervisor who will direct tasks of food service personnel in food preparation and cooking activities to fulfill the menu requirements. Work involves evaluation of menus and directing the work of the cooks to provide food production sufficient for the institution's needs. Will require evaluation of food needs, inventory oversight and ordering of the necessary food and supplies. Work is reviewed by a kitchen manager or food service director for quality and quantity of food production and for adherence to establish sanitation standards.
Work schedule: 40 hours per week; rotating shifts and weekends.
Salary Grade: GN04

Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) is a certified Medicare and Medicaid facility nursing home that provides a continuum of care to both adults with severe and persistent mental illness that also have long-term medical conditions requiring residential, medical and nursing care, and to adults with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or other related dementia. LNMTC facilitates high quality skilled and intermediate nursing care throughout four Nursing Unit Floors and an Alzheimer's Unit that operates 24 hours seven days a week, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises opening &/or closing of Food & Nutrition Services Department; replaces absent personnel as appropriate.
Supervises patient and cafeteria meal delivery & service.
Ensures menus are ready for patient food service and oversees meal delivery.

Must be able to read, write English at 12th grade level.
Nutrition Education/Supervision coursework preferred.

Food Service Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Manages, supervises and coordinates assigned activities associated with Food Service and may be required to assists with the preparation, assembly and service of meals and performance of duties and assignments in the University Health System Cafeteria/Food Service Department. Compiles and maintains all data required for variance and yearly budget reports.

Ensure that all applicable training takes place for the FOH associates on a weekly, monthly or annual basis as needed.

The Department of Retail Services is a university run operation consisting of both residential and retail food service units, as well as 20|20 Catering, vending and concessions.
Under the direction of a Food Service Manager, the Food Service Supervisor is directly responsible for managing the daily operations of multiple units, units as assigned. This position will oversee: Taco Bell & Burger King (franchises), and Vending & Concessions. Units have their own full-time Food Service Assistants, and are operated mostly by part-time student staff. All FT and PT staff report directly to the Food Service Supervisor. Responsibilities include operating the units' standards, staff hiring, scheduling, supervision of training, inventory control, product quality, ordering, sanitation, and cash control. The Supervisor will be directly responsible for dealing with the franchise representatives on standard compliances, the public, special promotional programs, merchandising, and marketing.
Hours of Operation: Typically, the incumbent will be working Monday through Friday, 1st shift (8:00am-4:30pm). Nights and weekends availability is needed if there are special events or training of personnel. Position also requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Salary: This position comes with a competitive salary and benefit package. The minimum hourly pay $20.50 per hour; appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.
- At least two years of supervisory and/or lead worker experience in multiple franchises restaurant/retail environment.
ServSafe Food Handler or similar certification;

Cash handling experience in a retail environment;

Experience with disciplining/terminating staff;
Experience working in a large volume and fast-paced environment -with gross sales in excess of $1 million;
Experience working specifically in Taco Bell and/or Burger King is preferred. Experience working in both restaurants is highly preferred. Experience working in both restaurants in lead worker capacity is strongly preferred.
Experience working in a higher education setting. Further experience working in higher education setting in a retail or similar area is strongly preferred.

Food Service Supervisor
1.Supervise Food Service Workers, Dishwashers, Cooks and Janitors. Provide supervision and direction to workers regarding job requirements and performance, including assigning task responsibilities for the crew each day. Complete monthly assessment forms, performance evaluations and communicate client, employee and customer issues to Project Manager and make recommendations for correction and discipline.
2.Support crew members by providing timely and thorough training and feedback. Oversee new worker training and ongoing training for all members of the crew.
3.Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and assuring proper use of company resources. Obtain tools necessary for the job to be completed. Inform the Project Manager of any needs which cannot be satisfied with current equipment and supplies. Advise Project Manager in timely fashion as additional supplies are needed. Maintain equipment by performing preventative and minor maintenance.
4.Maintain quality control standards. Complete regular inspections and promptly correct any deficiencies and rectify any customer complaints.
5.Assist crew in completing contract required tasks. Serves portions of food on trays and/or plates. Prepares the dining and serving areas by setting up counters and tables. Prepares pot and pan area, utilizing the three sink method, as required. Scrapes excess product from dishes and utensils prior to washing. Empties trash containers as needed. Mops up any spills and completely mops the kitchen floor at the end of the shift.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
2 years of combined food service experience which may include serving, food ordering, preparation, cooking, dish machine and beverage dispenser operation, preferably in a cafeteria or banquet type environment, with at least 1 year experience in a supervisory or training role.
Currently possess Food Sanitation License, CPR Certification and First Aid Certification (or be able to obtain license & certifications within 6 months of employment; cannot fail Food Service exam twice in a 6 month period)
Must pass criminal background check
Must pass various State and Federal registry checks.
Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria, maintain valid drivers license and be 21 or older to drive.
