This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Area Manager with salary level dependent on skills and experience. The role is responsible for the planning and management of field engineering activities and requires active involvement in harvest unit and road layout, road construction and road maintenance activities and harvest unit scheduling/planning.
Employ professional engineering skills in the planning and field implementation of road layout, road construction, road maintenance, cable/ground-logging systems, and harvest unit layout.

Full participation in the management of expense and capital budgets.

BS Forest Engineering or Forest Operations. (Individuals who possess a comparable degree (e.g. Civil Engineering) along with forest operations experience will also be considered).
Two years of forest engineering experience is desired.
Candidates with northwest regional field experience will be strongly considered.
Must be highly motivated, a self-directed team player.
Familiarity of northwest forest practices rules and permitting processes.
Ability to interact with state and federal forest practice regulators.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Strong analytical skills w/ proficiency in use of personal computers and related software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Geographical Information Systems are highly desirable with desire to learn.
Valid driver's license is required, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year).
Operational timing or weather constraints may require occasional weekend work.

The WFIRM Postdoctoral Research Fellow will participate in a new multi-year effort to develop and test novel biomaterials and "bioinks" to advance bioprinting technologies for future manufacturing or tissues and organs. The applicant will perform a variety of complex tasks including polymer chemistry, polymer modification, material mechanical testing, development, characterization, and testing of hydrogel biomaterials, implementation of biomaterials to create 3D tissue constructs through bioprinting, biological and functional tests for verification of tissue construct viability and function. The technician will be provided with a variety of procedures and techniques previously outlined by established protocols and other scientific data related to the production of tissue engineered constructs. Specific duties will include basic and advanced polymer chemistry protocols, cell culture and expansion, hydrogel biomaterial characterization, physical characterization of biomaterials, assembly of 3D constructs using biofabrication and bioprinting techniques, collection and organization of data, and assisting in the preparation of reports and manuscripts. Chemistry, chemical engineering, or polymer chemistry background a plus, or biomaterials/materials and bioprinting background a plus.
Education/Experience: Ph.D. with a focus in the biological, chemical, or physical sciences, or biomedical engineering.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: n/a
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
Experience in chemical reactions and polymer chemistry.
Experience with development and testing of biopolymer and synthetic hydrogel biomaterials.
Experience in biofabrication technologies such as bioprinting, for creation of tissue engineered constructs.
Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science background a plus.
